  1. Sounds like his passenger is Portuguese because I believe I understood some of the things he said. I will not translate!
  2. When I grew up fathers rods seized, child arrives home and explains what happened, child recieves a brief whooping and learns lesson and never does it again. Today child arrives home, child recieves whooping, child calls childrens aid, father charged and child removed and told it is not their fault and require special therapy. World heading to hell in a hand basket, sorry am I thinking out loud again!
  3. I had 2 of the WalMart specials and they lasted 4 years and was great having a second battery to switch to if necessary. Was on a weekend trip once up north at a camp with no electric, 2 batteries lasted the 3 days it was great.
  4. Hamilton pier has been closed down since the summer, the Burlington side is open. They will be working on the pier a little longer still as they will be doing some more restoration to the Hamilton Harbour end of it. We have supplied some of the materials for the job and the pier was in desperate need of restoration.
  5. I weighed in at 245lbs on new years day after the first year at my new job as an outside sales rep for a construction supply company ( lots of lunch meetings, driving around and coffees on the jobsite). I was leading a concrete forming crew before that always worked off the calories and stayed in shape. I got back in the gym and just adjusted my alcohol consumption as well by about 50% too, 2 porkchops and salad instead of 4 pork chops and loaded bake potatoes and has resulted in a drop of 25lbs and back into my 34 jeans. The goal was 45lbs by the end of the year. Congrats on your success.
  6. I had an older one in the house ( 15 years old) and i would say it was at least another $75.00 a month in Hydro for me. The heater eventually went on it, was about $1000 to repair, we just got rid of it. It was a nice thing to have from time to time though.
  7. Truth is the CO doesn't need to prove the over limit, the simple fact that neither of those fishing could identify which fish in the pail were theirs they are all in violation of the regs and you have technically violated the limits by not being able to identify which catch is yours. Unfortunate situation, but a violation is a violation whether you were aware or not.
  8. my condolences to you and your family, little boys love their grandpas.
  9. We started as a Pair but are now a Full House! ( Sorry couldn't resist).
  10. Sorry you had to do it Cliff, I am in the same process. I have a lab/rodesian ridgeback cross that is 12 years old now, he has been a cherished member of the family but I am seeing him struggle upstairs and being tentative with his right leg (hip). A dog will never let you know they are in pain or suffering, I believe I will be in the same situation as you soon so I can understand how hard a decision it is.
  11. If you are ever in again ask for me, I may be there or on the road but I will see what I can do for you. Who are you working for CH312, you can PM me on that rather than hijacking the thread. Sorry to hear about having to waterproof the basement Ryan, feel free to PM me if you need any info after all having been in the foundation business for a while I have a bit of experience in the waterproofing end as well. It isn't rocket science but takes alot of elbow grease!
  12. I am the Outside Rep for the Hamilton Location of Form and Build Supply. If you work in concrete in the area there is a good chance you have been in, if not come by sometime and ask for Jerry. We are on Lancing Drive off of Nebo Road.
  13. I would check with the local building department because CH312 was correct, garages normally would require at least a 4 foot frost wall be built for the foundation, just a slab is normally not adequate for a garage like it is for a shed. Have done plenty of foundation walls in Hamilton and the GTA for garages when working for the forming company. The Ready Mix companies will be able to help you with the proper concrete required and amounts if given the dimensions and slab depths, and up here it is cubic meters not cubic yards. Get in touch with me if you need any densifiers, epoxy floor coatings or trench drains for the shop, I now work for construction materials supply company and can help you with any things you might want to add. Best of luck with the job.
  14. I was thinking of booking Auld Reekie this summer to but I have sent them 2 inquiries via their e-mail and still no response after more than a week. I guess I will just call this week, I met and talked to the owners of Gow Bush Kon Lodge on Gowganda Lake at the fishing show last week. Pretty nice people and the prices were reasonable, Auld Reekie does look a little nicer but Gow Bush Kon could be another option for you to.
  15. I used to live on Edgemont South and Main St.( not too far from you). One night I heard some noises in my driveway beside the house, I peaked out the window to see 2 guys crouched by my basement window. Myself and my 100 pound black lab/ rodesian ridgeback cross went out my front door to greet them. Well they crapped themselves and take off through my yard and over the fence just before my doggy reached them and they kept running! I scared them so bad they left their tools and stash behind, turns out they had broken into a bunch of cars up the street and were checking their stash in my driveway because it was dark there. The cops were able to reunite the owners with their stuff but they still had the damages to their vehicles. About the car insurance in Hamilton it is true, I moved to Stoney Creek Mountain ( Paramount and Mud area) my car and house insurance dropped a combined $925.00 for the year just because I passed that imaginary Hamilton line.
  16. Prayers and thoughts going your way, keep the faith. Doctors and Hospitals today are capable of amazing work today.
  17. Excellent words , enjoy your beautiful family. "Work to live, don't live to work!"
  18. Even if the condesate pipe leaked it likely would not have been enough water to soak a pile of clothes and the carpet, likely came from another source.
  19. Did the whole Disney thing 2 years ago, all the parks got the daughter all done up at Cinderellas castle etc. Expensive but very enjoyable with the kids and wife. Done Aruba , Cuba, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, don't just sit on the beach we rent jeeps on hit the roads, horseback riding in the mountains, deep sea fishing, bass fishing and a little scuba and snorkelling. Very enjoyable, to just lie there I might as well stay on the couch. This year it looks like a family trip in the summer up towards Gogama, got to change it up and I want the kids to appreciate the outdoor activities available to us here in Ontario.
  20. Welcome aboard, I come and go from time to time based on what is going on in life at the time but a great board to be on. I don't do any ice fishing but have had good experiences on Cooks Bay during the soft water season for pike, perch and bass.
  21. Wow! that was some quick thinking, I am glad you are OK and nobody was injured ( definately get checked out if you don't feel right over the next few days). That is truly neighbours coming to one anothers help at its best. I experienced a kitchen fire about 11 years ago, pot of grease burst into flames on the stove while unattended ( forgotten). It wicked up the cabinets and had reached the ceiling when I discovered it, I just dialed 911 grabbed the dog and got the wife out. Fire Department was there in no time but the kitchen was gutted and there was major smoke damage ( amazing what smoke does to your house and belongings). We were out of the house for 9 weeks for repairs and lost a number of personal items but we were ok and that is what insurance is for. I have always had a fire extinguisher in the house since then but if it is growing too big let it burn, it isn't worth your LIFE! Good work, sounds like you had a good handle on this one.
