Wow! that is an amazing post. You just posted my dream trip with my 11 year old son, he has the same enthusiasm of fishing as your young son and I have always told him that we will do a fly in together. My wife isn't big on fishing trips and my daughter is becoming more interested in girl things than the fishing. I have been told by the boss (wife) to arrange the fly in for myself and my son and send the girls on a spa weekend, I would like to do this before he gets to the age when I am not as cool as his friends anymore. If you wouldn't mind sending me a PM with some info on your trip, like a ballpark price of what that package cost you and type of tackle you packed. I have done boat in outposts before but I am a newbie to fly ins so it seems Hearst is high on your list, great posting and it looked like a father and son trip of a lifetime ( you are truly a good Father and have a great Son by the looks of it).

Today I took the day off to take my son out fishing as he has a week off between the summer day camps I have registered him in. My in-laws watch my son and daughter so I thought I would give them a break for a couple days this week, my daughter is in camp this week but off for a week later this summer while my son is still in another camp ( have o figure out something to do with her for a couple days, maybe the beach and a mani/pedi day for her). Well we went to Port Maitland in the morning but not much biting other than Gobies ( the seagulls were well fed). We left and spent a couple hours at the Binbrook Conservation Area and this is what he hit on his last cast of the day with just a worm and hook. I don't know who enjoyed the one on one time more, him or me? Was very hot out though and had to call it early.

Haven't posted much but have followed the updates on your daughters condition, Jen and your family are definately in our prayers. She looks like a fighter and with the support that your family and friends are giving her it definately helps in the fight. BELIEVE.

Took a fully charged deep cycle and used it to power my fishfinder in a rental boat for week last year, worked all week without the need for charging. There is very little draw from a fishfinder.

Tough on the South end,spent most of the time trying to keep the kids busy. We got into a lot of bass off of any points entering the narrow channels but nothing of major size. The weather was very cool with a lot of rain, nobody reported catching anything of significant size. It is a real big lake so locating the fish can take some time, but I believe it can have some potential for good sized fish. I imagine the North end would be pretty good as it doesn't receive nearly as much pressure but that will have to wait for another trip. You are looking at about a 30 to 35 mile run to the North end around islands and channels so it would be very time consuming to get there.

Hey, I'm ok not eaten by any bears! I thought I had gone back in time there for a moment, wish I was actually 6 years younger again. I wound up going to the Gogama area instead but hope to fish the Chapleau area in the future. By the way no bear encounters in the Gogama area on that trip.

Spent a week on Onaping last year, Walleyejigger is right that the launches are on the south end of the lake. It is a very long lake so will take a long time to boat out to the north end. Lots of islands and bays so it is easy to get lost if you are not familiar with the lake, spent most of my time on the south end because I had small kids with me. Takes some work to locate the fish on the south end, beautiful area though.

Gerrit gives good advice, you can sample the plaster but that only tells you about that small area other portions around the house may contain asbestos. I believe it is best to take proper percautions for yourself, quality masks/respirators, spray down and good ventilation and you should be ok. Its all about keeping it from getting airborne, most vermiculite insulation is actually ok but some that came from a particular mine does contain asbestos. It is generally ok if it is not disturbed, I have seen tests from the same attic where some areas were fine and others had asbestos.

Lew, Sorry, I haven't been on for a while and would have chimed in. You did get good advice though and appears that you did a good job. I would have recommended the same processas ch312 and the Mapei Planitop X as well, it is great repair product. However you did a nicer looking repair than some of the guys that I have seen in the business.

Valens for sure, even Binbrook Conservation. If you can rent one of the row boats and drop a hook and worm there are plenty of fish and the chance for some decent bass. If the kids get too hot then you could hit the beach.

Absolutely, it was also nice to disconnect from the Blackberry and Email for a week.

Well just got back from Lake Onaping just north of Sudbury with the family. Weather wasn't the greatest this week but we made the best of it. It is a big lake and the best fishing is on the mid to northern stretches, didn't feel like doing the 20-30 mile runs in the boat with the kids so we stuck to the south portion and it was pretty good for keeping the kids busy. We located some rocky points that held lots of small SMB, no records but you hooked one every cast once you located them we would get about 30 off of each of these points when we located them. Lots of SMB around but never got anything of major size but I was concerned with keeping the kids busy with fish, mission accomplished with hook and worm or worm tipped jigs. Never got into any pike or walleye but some guys coming back from the northern parts had some nice looking walleye. Had to do my best John Candy impression one night when a bat flew into the cottage and the kids had a blast with the chipmunks taking peanuts right out of their hands. They were amazed to see a hummingbird and a woodpecker for the first time.It was nice to spend the week with the family with no cellphones or internet to distract us. Decent place for the price and cabins are going under renovations so should be pretty nice in the next couple years, thanks Serge and Tuula at Northwoods for a nice week. I would do what Bryan recommends in Option 2, I know his work. I work for a supplier of his Form and Build Supply in Hamilton and he knows his stuff. I also have an additional 9 years of foundation experience, you have serious problems there. In addition to Bryans recommendation I would add a french drain style system around the perimeter of the house. Dig a trench about 1 foot deep and 8 inches wide about 2 feet from the house all around where the lot slopes towards the wall put in a base of crushed stone and place weeper with filter in the trench, fill around with more crushed stone. This should catch and redirect surface water before it reaches your foundation. The horizontal leak doesn't look like a crack or failure to me but rather a cold joint from the original concrete pour, basically they were waiting for additional concrete and the other concrete set up before they could pour the balance and as a result the concrete doesn't become one but leaves a void that water is able to enter. This area would be a weak point though especially if there is no rebar in the wall, you should monitor these areas for movement! I will be heading up to Lake Onaping for the week of Aug 11-18 and have heard that the bait pricing is pretty expensive. I stopped at Bills Baits on Hamilton mountain and they sell a half flat ( about 250 worms) for $30.00 or full flat ( about 500 worms) for $45.00. Sounds like a good price to me, anyone recommend anybody else in the area that sells flats or half flats for a decent price?

Whenever we rent a cottage and boat the wife will join us in the boat but doesn't fish, she hangs out and catches a tan. I had someone telling me the other day that if she was in the boat and there is enough rods that she may use one, she would need to have a licence. Last time I checked a licence was for fishing, not the possibility of fishing. We are going to Lake Onaping in August and she will be joining me and the kids in the boat, there will be more rods in the boat then people but I don't think she would need a licence to be in the boat with us? Anyone else ever hear this from someone before?

I had one on my boat and it only had a 40hp 4 stroke, is it necessary maybe but for the small price it is worth it. Just last week I was waiting to turn onto a street and watched this guy towing a boat go over a set of railroad tracks, his motor flew up completely horizontal and came crashing back down against the transom and did a couple smaller bounces. That type of bouncing and shock definately is not good for a transom or motor, it was only a 25hp and I wonder how far or how many times he was towing that way.

You don't have to hide it either, it is perfectly acceptable to import the only ban is the application. So put it in an unmarked bottle before you spray if you have a neighbour that may rat you out.

Manitoubass2 ,I am never going to say that steroids are not valuable in medicine. They have definately helped many for treatment in many applications. As for my experiences with the other athletes around me at the time I can't say that their personalty changes were from the steroid use or just them acting that way because they felt more aggressive because they believed they were tougher by using them. I do not know what type they were using and didn't care as it was their decision, all I could say is that having known these people before, during and after their use I noticed different personalities and levels of aggression. I can't attribute the reasons for it but the timing all lined up with their use. No worries about anyones comments here as this is a tough thing to understand as most of us could never imagine taking our own lives (myself included)and I hope the thought never comes across any of our minds. I will remember Junior Seau as the player he was as he really beat up on my Raiders when he was in San Diego, great linebacker and was heavily involved in the community from what I had read about him. I really feel for his Mom after seeing that news conference, it is interesting that he is the 8th player to pass away from the 94 Superbowl Chargers.

Loved this band growing up, makes you realize you are aging when the people you idolized growing up are passing away. RIP Adam and Junior.
