If there where still brookies and Browns in the upper reaches of the Humber and tributaries, no one would talk about it on the internet.

How do you like the helix 7? Is yours equipped with side imaging? I'm thinking of adding one to my boat for the side imaging as its close to $800 just to add the module and side scan transducer to my Raymarine unit.

Careful now, once you start with the trolling it becomes addictive. You may never fish for those green carp again! I spend 70-80% of my fishing time trolling with the main or bowmount depending on species. I got my first tekota this year, just do it. Any reel that is smooth like silk with an angry king thrashing on the business end is worth the cash. I'm a convert! Those are some very nice fish, looks like a great week!

I bought my first Stradic at the old Yonge street store. My gramps also bought me my first rifle there when I was 16 and had just got my first FAC, it was a ruger 10/22. I'll miss them, even though the service was often awful and they were regularly out of stock on things. I won't miss the bald manager though. That guy doesn't rate a job washing dish, much less managing a retail outlet. -
They work pretty well Cliff. We've used one on top of the wood stove at the hunt camp for the last 4 winters.

I have a pair of cheapy Simms waders, they've been pretty good for a couple seasons so far. They where $150 on sale and apparently Simms will replace them one time, then your on your own. I've owned a ton of waders over the years and no way I'd lay out $650 on any set of waders. They all fail. I also know a couple guys who've spent the big dollars and had Simms offer repair only as well so full replacement isn't a guarantee. I believe in buying quality and often spend a fair bit on good gear, but in my mind Simms has entered the realm of ridiculous with some of their pricing.

There is nothing natural about grown men making death threats over a fish. Much less one that's not even a gamefish. Bunch of nonsense!

Your not the first guy I've heard that from about the older elite series. However it's the only lowrance unit I've ever heard that complaint about. Two of my good fishing buds run the HDS on their boats and love em!

Take a look at surgemaster. They use Honda motors but are less expensive than a Honda. We have one at Moms place, it's a good genny but not quite as quiet as a factory Honda unit. I have. A 3500 watt Canadian tire deal at my place. The trick is to maintain them and run them often. We've gotten many many hundreds of hours of run time off of cheaper generators at the hunt camp by maintaining them well. One day I'll buy a high end unit but for now the one I have does pretty well. I have a fireplace though and additional kerosene heaters to, so not running heat. In reality I think you'll be just fine with a 5k unit.

Last time I sold my house it was in the north GTA. Deposit was 25k. When bought my house in the sticks I paid a 5k deposit and that was on the high side. Houses routinely sell out this way with 3-5k deposits. The market is becoming more competitive here but the deposits are nowhere near what the GTA commands. Different speed.

I've owned all major brands at some point, and they all have pluses and minuses. If it where my money I'd look at a hummingbird helix or s raymarine dragonfly. You'll get lots of responses though. Everyone has their favorites.

Hopefully the wind cooperates for you! I can only go that far in my boat when the lake is glass and the forecast is perfect!

The last 2 weeks was the time to be on the lake for stagers. Fishing was great. I spent 4 hours bouncing up and down in big rollers this morning for only one rip. Go to st Clair

Extensive trolling kills deep cycles. I've killed mine in 2 seasons in the past. I troll until the motor stops pretty regularly. Not much will save them from that. Walmart had a decent grp31 battery for about $135. I've been using one all season and so far so good but I'll eventually kill this one as well. I'd just buy another and be done with it.

Who wants a mud shark that badly. I try to catch my bait just offshore if at all possible. What's the fun in 5 feet of water?
-
Pretty sweet deal for a terrova!
-
You have a shot at salmon if you target 20-40 foot of water. There's already small numbers of fish in some tributaries and the cooler nights will push fish into the harbour mouths. You could probably do ok very shallow at first light. There are tons of fish staging in 60fow at the moment off of other tribs. Try trolling some deep diving cranks, and have fun.

Ram mount all day. That's a pretty sizeable unit. I run a 7 inch screen on the medium size ram ball setup and its very solid.

Open water bass suggestions (lure, techniques etc)

I'm not a bass guy so don't have much expertise to offer, but I can say that whenever I am fishing depths of 10-15 feet or so, I can't seem to keep the things off of a rapala clackin rap. It's pretty versatile, you can fish slow or fast and running depth will correspond with how fast you reel. The brown and orange colour is my favourite. That's all I got! -
Gulp is one thing I don't keep in Tupperware or bags. Gulp tubs leak, pretty much always. Plano sells an aftermarket gulp container that doesn't leak for $10. I dump a tub of whatever gulp into it and then keep all my gulp in the boat in the one tub soaking in juice, except the maggots and micro baits. I also have one of those bass pro bags mentioned above for the odd time I go bass fishing. I keep it for rubber worms and tubes, creatures etc. it works pretty good as well, mind you I don't use it much.

A nightmare in Tupperware? I can't see how, unless your tournament fishing and need to have everything now. For the average joe it works great! Anyway, to each their own.
-
Go to Walmart, buy plastic locking liquid proof Tupperware container for $19.99. It contains 4 or 5 waterproof locking lid Tupperware containers inside useful for rapalas and other tackle. Throw all soft plastics in larges Tupperware. I use the Walmart Tupperware for a lot of my tackle, works great!

My buddy got $500 easy, no bargaining at the start of summer for exact same motor.
