  1. My local TSC was doing that last year. Got a bunch of good stuff cheap. They must've sent the last of it to one location.
  2. Fish slow, use real meat. Pickerel fishing isn't rocket science, but they can be finicky, and that's why I like fishing them!
  3. Opener.... Yikes! Shorten your life expectancy, take a job working shifts and never fish a weekend again!
  4. Good use of space! I like it.
  5. I've caught many pike and musky casting rapalas for pickerel on 8 to 12lb test, both mono and fluorocarbon. Once and a while I've lost a lure, but I've put enough of them in the boat to not worry about it. I don't know that I would bother with the expense of 80lb fluoro. When I do fish for pike specifically, I use a cheap fine black wire leader of about 6 inches long. I've never lost a fish with one, and I'm still working on a pack of leaders that I spent about 6 dollars on 10 years ago.
  6. One off prototype? I have a one off lure from a guy that tried his hand at lure design. That's my guess anyway.
  7. I don't own harnesses with anything other than Colorado blades.
  8. Very seldom had a snell fail. Surprised to hear. What kind of line are you using for harnesses?
  9. 17 days to go, and then other than the odd trout excursion, its pretty much all I will fish until the bows run again. Mind you, I catch plenty of pike, bass and muskie while targeting pics, but they are just window dressing. Have fun!
  10. I think it's a perception thing. I never had bluegill before until about 15 years ago a friend of a friend had us fill a pail on a weekend fishing trip, he cleaned em all and fried them for dinner. They where fantastic. I think most people consider them kids fish up here. Down in some states bluegill fishing is nearly an industry.
  11. Sounds like a good long weekend of fishing to me!
  12. You got it. I live on a street where one side is no parking. Every day the guy across the street parks right in front of my house, 3 feet from the end of my driveway. I can hardly ever park in front of my house if I want to clear the driveway for a project cause that guy is always there. I have to park down the steet because to the left of where he parks, another neighbour who only has room for 2 cars puts his also. Beside that there is a hydrant, so that's out. It's in front of my house so it should be available to me right?? No chance, public street. I'm just glad I live in an older neighbourhood or it'd be even worse. People fish our dock also, they also fish constantly in the bay beside our cottage. Public waterway, time to deal with it, all taxes aside. We do. Be glad you can afford to live on the water to start with.
  13. That's what I do with the wooden box I made for the front of my bike. Works pretty good.
  14. I use an air impact kit and compressor for working on my vehicles, but... my Milwaukee impact driver can remove the lug nuts on my SUV, which is torqued to 85 ft lbs. I've been pretty impressed with it, but no way would I go for a cordless impact driver for auto use. My neighbor uses a corded cheapy from Canadian Tire and it works great, smart move to wait for that one to go on sale!
  15. Who cleans away character??
  16. Sounds like a great show. After attending the ancaster swap meet, I think I'm going to skip the big shows and stick with the swap meets. They have more of what I'm looking for anyway, which is other peoples junk! I'm up with the kids also, and i'm tempted to check out the north Toronto tackle swap this morning, but it's 1.5 hours away and I'm just not that ambitious! Have fun.
  17. My fishing buddy and I wear inflatables on every trip now. I don't think that would've helped here though. Just a moments misjudgement or perhaps lack of knowledge. A shame all around.
  18. Walmart battery? Smallest one in the everstart wet cell category.
  19. Walmart Grp 24 on my nucanoe frontier 12. Should easily push you for 4 hours of moderate use.
  20. I will say one thing about Maui Jims, my son at 2 years old snapped the frame in half on my Mauis. I walked in to the Mississauga Maui Jim office, told them what happened and asked if I could pay to have the frames replaced. They gave me a brand new pair free of charge. That was pretty good in my books. But you pay a price for that kind of service.
  21. My last set was Maui Jim. I wore them for nearly 7 years and they are excellent sunglasses. I still leave them in our pickup truck for those times I forget my new ones. I cheaped out this time and paid $64 at Costco for a pair of Hobies. So far I'm very pleased with them and the lenses are great for the dollar value. Time will tell if they hold up. I only buy amber lenses.
  22. Do you mean while fishing by yourself, or out fishing with your kids or something like that.
