  1. Little to be humbled about catching that fish of a lifetime. lol Now "That's Real Fishing." Exciting stuff. It's a great pike, good on him.
  2. Hahahahhahahahahhhahhaha! Great one Geoff. lol
  3. Well done Pete! They'll post that episode up publicly at some point so be sure to link us to it from here.
  4. That was great Simon. Snook are a tonne a fun and feisty buggers too. Betchya wish that tide stayed in all day long.
  5. She was always wonderful here at OFC and online elsewhere. Sorry for your loss Paul, she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
  6. MY GOD!!! The young fella was so cool to watch! A mind for every little detail. Well done!
  7. Mike, Have caught so many pike in all sizes and places on a Williams Whitefish C90 silver Nu-wrinkle. Don't just cast and retrieve, jerk and pause it too. And of course, the Johnson Silver spoon for the weedy spots, Vibrax or Mepps spinners, dressed or not. Williams T60's... buzzbaits, crankbaits,... this could get ugly.
  8. Bill is a great fella, Max too. I think we were all thankful for the fishing and opportunity. You know Smitty, Rob's already planned to camp out back at the same spot this season. To take a little break with some other friends, guide and fish for himself too. Can you imagine 10 cabins, 1000+ guests a season, 50-60 days guiding. He's up at 6:00am everyday, has supper around 10:30-11:00pm after closing the door to the office, unwinds an hour, sleeps and repeats... For six months straight. The dog stays pretty busy too... black bears to chase off and in the winter, Loki's gotta keep his wits about him cause the wolf pack loves sending one of the cute females up the driveway to tempt him out and into an ambush. The speck episode is good too. I'm biased tho. Like the pike a little more probably but you've read the report so you know how the speck show will end. A month later Rob returned to where we had caught all the pike. He had been telling some anglers about it and they begged him to guide them out there. All the fish were gone! They saw and caught nothing. Spring is for sight fishing, you know this too and, as written in the most recent "article" like post just put up at the site. Could go back next year and winds, weather, lake levels and such, change the playing field again. Thanks for the great reply too bud. Nice to know you're still reading and enjoying the reports. Solo Roady III along with the Nunavut Nomad were two enjoyable reports to put together this year. Was trying to convince Bill to consider another show. More big toothy warmwater critters. Check the inbox! Thanks gang.
  9. This past summer I had one new and cool opportunity to guide "The New Fly Fisher" T.V. show through Onaman River Resort on Lake Nipigon. Over five days, camped out on a quiet and remote island, we managed to film two full episodes in the one trip. Catching brook trout had been the main goal, but the pike fishing was so incredible as well that host Bill just couldn't help himself. A short write-up of how it came to be, which includes the link to the full first T.V. episode on the pike fishing is posted up... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/the-new-fly-fisher-t-v-giant-nipigon-pike-ep1/ Shouldn't be too long and the brook trout episode will come along too. Bunk.
  10. You could post whitey videos, say nothing of what you're fishing and by watching the rod tip still know that you're whitey fishing. Just the way they pull. Good you're finally on the board. Now get back and get more while you still can.
  11. Fun little vids! The kiddo is a natural. And a real cutie!
  12. Pay no mind to football all year long but if all games were scripted and played out like that, I'd be a huge fan. What a cool moment in sports history to watch.
  13. Been a part of many boards, and those that have two separate sections for fishing and non-fishing have never had any members complaining that what the board should do is, get rid of the two sections and have only one...
  14. WOW... A $750 reel. Tranx alot Shimano!
  15. Don't regret posting anything because we live and learn. With public sites they'res always a greater caution to "handle with care." Keeps it interesting... even challenging sometimes. It's living doods! The days of forum reports, blogs and even magazines are coming to pass though, sad to say... Much as I'm on Facebook, I'd throw that away if all boards could be what they were a decade a go. But yeah, with public sites and social medias comes lurking and even some other dark sides of human nature... it can be damaging and turn people off.
  16. You'll be fine! Run an 80 Terrova on the Rebel XL... batteries to the back though. That'll move you along great.
  17. Sweet green machine Chris! If it can be worked out I'd like to go from a 16 foot Rebel XL and into an 1875 ProGuide or Competitor 185. Tiller!!! That is all.
  18. Thanks a plenty Steve, Geoff and Miigwetch Rickster. Fish for now Rick and write about it here and there. One day we'll be old and grey and that'll be a decent time to write some kinda final word... if there's still a marble or two rolling around in this here head to do it.
  19. Wholesale! Heard of 'em. CAN prices after tax weeds? Good choices dood!
  20. Good hand auger is faster. lol Not...
  21. That is food for thought. Other than fishing... don't get involved much in the other stuff. Not on the forums. If you are going to post, sobriety and thoughtfulness can go a long way.
  22. No WFN here... gonna miss the T.V. show. But it'll likely be on YouTube later... Great piking and like the drone work. Busy working, site seeing and doing some on the ground arctic char research for maybe some future date.
  23. Felt haphazard yes... but maybe some method to the madness. Will likely be walking on 5+ feet of ice by this weekend and only wondering what swims beneath. Thanks again Jay. Let's try and meet up around Ottawa for a day out this year. Think that eye was near 14lbs... I think. 13lb, 14oz. A good one anyways but yeah, still not quite as sexy as the glowing orange char. Thanks for flipping over a page to take a look. Best fishes for the New Year!
  24. What he said! James... you got us jonzing! Some great fishing and feel required from a rocking boat for whiteys at those depths. Well done again!
  25. 2016 was a bit of a strange year for time management. Normally most plans with work and play are sorted out long before any days arrive. Last winter was in a funk though, wondering what was to come and by spring, nothing much had really changed. The seasons were passing by and I had to roll with it. In the end the year all came together better than I ever did expect. Seemingly found a work and play balance with the scales leaning heavily to the fun side. Along the way, caught a tonne of new species, personal bests and had some amazing fishing experiences from north to south. Sturgeon, arctic char, gar, pike, sharks and some other usual fish make up the bulk of the fish porn in this one. Any interested can read on... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/2016s-complete-fishing-finish/ Happy New Year to the gang here at OFC. Bunk.
