  1. Slobby lakers, log pike and football smallies... three species to easily fall in love with the chase Steve. Great season again!
  2. Beauty! Just the way every November day should be,
  3. My Lord!!! I really have a hard time believing St.Clair can suffer a slow bite. That place is unfair for numbers and action. Well done!
  4. I think you guys suffered most because of that bottle of Ardbeg. Like a Laphroig or Dun Bheagan, that there I find has to be one of the most rugged and harsh drams to swallow. Fitting how that works into your story of a big days effort for some final rewards. Solid report!
  5. A heckuva fall report to wake up to Joey. Some perfect days spent. I'm with Chris too, inland bows are usually really weird, splake too. You do well. Great laker!
  6. Maybe should have joined ya for a day. Tougher skiing up on the big rivers this past week.
  7. $125 Rob...! You can't go wrong. They're all pretty much the same but I replaced a 2-man Instashak with the Rapala and I think the working parts seem more durable on the Rapala. The Instashak lasted me 3-years but there were a coupe little tweaks necessary to make it last longer. I did put a shart-tonne of use on that Shak and wasn't always gentle (400km's bouncing in a sleigh X3 and more) The 2-mans are great for heating up quick. Solo they're perfect, a kid no issue, a second adult and forget it.
  8. Good day to be outside today.... Tomorrow, not likely so much. lol.
  9. Agree with ya Brian on many points but probably these most. Came in just a half hour ago, poured a scotch and warming up here by the fire. Brenda came out with me today and we managed a small muskie on what was a nice day that turned bumpy on the St. Larry. A trooper we stayed out 3 hours into the dark cause she wanted to keep on the hunt for a fish on "her turn." (a true supertanker she lost in early October) She's really taken to muskie fishing this season and after spending much of the past week on the water with several old buddies from highschool, my dad, Brenda and alone, I gotta say it's always just great to be out there man no matter! Enjoy company as much as the solo time, to as you say, just think about the fish and life. Can't say yet if the boat will be away for good. Would like a crack or two at Quinte and another two muskie outings at least, but there's no pulling the trailer when there's salt and slush on the roads. Happy to have put in the time I did into fishing this past year and really quite stoked with how well all things went; especially because only an ice fishing trip had been planned and the rest was left all up to fate, really. Rick, if you haven't, you should read Doug's blog posts of his cross Canada trip. He's a great dood and it's cool you two met up out west. Once the softwater season ends, I'm actually looking forward to the break. So see ya around more I guess. lol.
  10. Outta breath reading about that first climb. Coffee got a little cool reading this one straight through. Well done man!!! A great sunny season full of awesome experiences for you... and some nice fish too.
  11. Today's lure prices are ridiculous. I look at companies like Jackall the past couple years, Live Target the years before that, and shake my head. Rapala is a proven winner for anglers around the world and their prices are lower. Hopefully people don't buy too much of the over-priced other options. Would hate to see all other reasonable lure companies look to raise prices within the margins. You gotta take those there beasts Slide, and drag'em just behind the boat on St.Clair with a long bite leader to keep 'em in your tackle box for later.
  12. He is Shayner! Would love to see him on a Bogie return too. He'd do it if he can. What should happen with Nipigon is a cabin gets rented for 9 anglers, 3 to a boat but go for two bloody weeks. Any rainy days we just play poker straight through. Thanks guys!
  13. Ditto! Really liked using the 3-piece travel rod for the month up north this past summer too. They made/make a "walleye class" rod that had great sensitivity and was an excellent jigging stick. Casting wasn't as great with it though. Do "like" Shimano rods although I'd rather find alternatives. Compres have been fine but some Crucial and Clarus rods purchased have had problems. Fenwicks are always on the radar nowadays, solid price point.
  14. "Until I grabbed it and released the gases..." lol Warmer up there than it is here...
  15. I guess "Dutch" is European... Measures in centimeters. That could be a first here. Great fishing regardless.
  16. This Autumn the Agent Stevie Zebco and I snuck away for a short Fishin’ Mission out on the big Lake Nipigon. As always, he and I rolled with some punches and kinda sorta just made it up as we went. Finding some friends along the way, we took in some night time campfires and day long hooksets. Not entirely your typical turn of events and not entirely your typical fish either, but with the Agent along anything is possible. As always, it’s yours to read into if ya want... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/humpbacks-halos-misty-maple-moonshine/ Bunk.
  17. This is a tough question... Probably a white bucktail jig. Specks, lakers, pike, walleye, muskie, smallies and pike have all been caught on one.
  18. Banner that in the rec room Simon! With some fish mounts.
  19. Good on Pete, dood knows his skis! Well done for you and the Missus, great looking fish.
  20. Kids in T's and dresses in November... and slaying everything that swims. Very nice dad!!!
  21. First mouse in the garage tonight... WINTER IS COMING!!! Will hope to have a cold winter with little snow. That'd be perfect for the ice-mod-quad.
  22. Dang dood! That's a perfect getaway right there
  23. Never used anything but Shimano for muskie fishing. Have a Curado for the small stuff and Calcutta for larger. For casting if having to choose just one to try and cover a range of baits and sizes, I'd go Curado actually... Tekota 600LC for trolling over the Calcutta 400, every day of the week.
  24. Very nice eh! A busy woman who truly does loves her fishing, Ashley and I have been back and forth since April (I'm pretty sure, maybe earlier) on finding time to get out for a fish. Attending my good friend's wedding a short time back Brenda and I found ourselves seated at a table with Ashley and Eric. Well lemme tell ya, I kinda felt sorry for Bren and Eric because Ashley and I just kept drinking and talking more fish ti'll they finally closed the doors for the night. A long overdue day out it was on Sunday.
  25. Little late here but Congrats Lew!! 50 years is huge milestone. Great pic of the two of you back in the day.
