  1. That is a score. I'm wondering if there's any left around here now? Just to have a second one at that price would be mint!
  2. Hoping for some more warm weather. Ottawa River, Larry and Quinte were slow to cool and the fish a little funky in the warm bath we had last week. Should be a couple weeks of prime fishing to be had yet.
  3. That's what I thought too. The right person for the job she raised solid points. Sadly though, I often find that once Council's make up their minds to make changes such as this, without "first" seeking public input, that public input later becomes merely a production. Shawna shouldn't be speaking to have them "reverse" a decision. My bet is one or two people with ties to council uses the park, doesn't like hunters, and that squeaky wheel is getting their grease. As it was said, there has never been an incident and the likelihood is slim to none there ever will be.
  4. Work contracts. It's like being retired. All work when I work, lots of play when I don't. All that may change for the worse in the New Year though... The few I fought were, in different ways too. The big bull was exhausting, like a big sturgeon but bigger and faster initially. Only a marlin and friend's yellowfin has shown more power. It's not always true. Thanks for checking this one out gang. Only a couple more to catch up on to end the 2016 then it'll be a long haul to the next. During the down time over the winter, rewriting/editing some old reports to throw up on the site I may post a few here for any interested.
  5. Had watched the first 5 seasons while in Nunavut last winter. Got home, told Bren she's gotta check it out, she got hooked, and so ended up re-watching it all again... Almost as good the second time and you're right Terry. Finishing up Luke Cage which is so-so. Just finished Marco Polo and Suits which I thought were both good. Need to get back onto Narcos. Walking Dead died for me a few seasons back but, it's my 17 years old's favorite show and part of our weekly quality time and convos so it good that this season they've taken it up a notch. So far been liking most of it. Dana Carvey's recorded stand-up show had me laughing through one morning too.
  6. I was a newbie to this, still am. And during the week everything from carrying bags, towing carts, fighting fish, taking pictures, baiting, rigging, casting, driving, etc., was all teamwork. I'd doubt any one single angler could safely land the 250+ pound bull sharks on their own, (especially in bigger surf) so it was good we had extra able bodies to help in every CPR way. The smaller sharks though, could see me wanting to return to cast topwaters for them and tarpon. They could be more manageable. Reeling in that bull from beginning to end was a single tug-of-war that was great fight, but not something that needs repeating anytime soon. It was actually a challenging trip in many different ways
  7. Down in Florida there was this hurricane named Eddie that made a big ole mess to clean up. Couple days later my hairy, pale ass landed in the Sunshine State for a week of shark fishing. Teeth and grit, sweat and spit, I'm rather thankful to the surf, sands and fish God's for some southern hospitality, delicious subs to-go, full moons and rows and rows and rows of razor sharp teeth that didn't bite any toes off. Bring your towel and drink and come hang on the beach... but just beware of JAWS! Full report here... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/hurricane-beaching-big-bully-sharks/ As always, thanks for reading. Bunk.
  8. Slobby lakers, log pike and football smallies... three species to easily fall in love with the chase Steve. Great season again!
  9. Beauty! Just the way every November day should be,
  10. My Lord!!! I really have a hard time believing St.Clair can suffer a slow bite. That place is unfair for numbers and action. Well done!
  11. I think you guys suffered most because of that bottle of Ardbeg. Like a Laphroig or Dun Bheagan, that there I find has to be one of the most rugged and harsh drams to swallow. Fitting how that works into your story of a big days effort for some final rewards. Solid report!
  12. A heckuva fall report to wake up to Joey. Some perfect days spent. I'm with Chris too, inland bows are usually really weird, splake too. You do well. Great laker!
  13. Maybe should have joined ya for a day. Tougher skiing up on the big rivers this past week.
  14. $125 Rob...! You can't go wrong. They're all pretty much the same but I replaced a 2-man Instashak with the Rapala and I think the working parts seem more durable on the Rapala. The Instashak lasted me 3-years but there were a coupe little tweaks necessary to make it last longer. I did put a shart-tonne of use on that Shak and wasn't always gentle (400km's bouncing in a sleigh X3 and more) The 2-mans are great for heating up quick. Solo they're perfect, a kid no issue, a second adult and forget it.
  15. Good day to be outside today.... Tomorrow, not likely so much. lol.
  16. Agree with ya Brian on many points but probably these most. Came in just a half hour ago, poured a scotch and warming up here by the fire. Brenda came out with me today and we managed a small muskie on what was a nice day that turned bumpy on the St. Larry. A trooper we stayed out 3 hours into the dark cause she wanted to keep on the hunt for a fish on "her turn." (a true supertanker she lost in early October) She's really taken to muskie fishing this season and after spending much of the past week on the water with several old buddies from highschool, my dad, Brenda and alone, I gotta say it's always just great to be out there man no matter! Enjoy company as much as the solo time, to as you say, just think about the fish and life. Can't say yet if the boat will be away for good. Would like a crack or two at Quinte and another two muskie outings at least, but there's no pulling the trailer when there's salt and slush on the roads. Happy to have put in the time I did into fishing this past year and really quite stoked with how well all things went; especially because only an ice fishing trip had been planned and the rest was left all up to fate, really. Rick, if you haven't, you should read Doug's blog posts of his cross Canada trip. He's a great dood and it's cool you two met up out west. Once the softwater season ends, I'm actually looking forward to the break. So see ya around more I guess. lol.
  17. Outta breath reading about that first climb. Coffee got a little cool reading this one straight through. Well done man!!! A great sunny season full of awesome experiences for you... and some nice fish too.
  18. Today's lure prices are ridiculous. I look at companies like Jackall the past couple years, Live Target the years before that, and shake my head. Rapala is a proven winner for anglers around the world and their prices are lower. Hopefully people don't buy too much of the over-priced other options. Would hate to see all other reasonable lure companies look to raise prices within the margins. You gotta take those there beasts Slide, and drag'em just behind the boat on St.Clair with a long bite leader to keep 'em in your tackle box for later.
  19. He is Shayner! Would love to see him on a Bogie return too. He'd do it if he can. What should happen with Nipigon is a cabin gets rented for 9 anglers, 3 to a boat but go for two bloody weeks. Any rainy days we just play poker straight through. Thanks guys!
  20. Ditto! Really liked using the 3-piece travel rod for the month up north this past summer too. They made/make a "walleye class" rod that had great sensitivity and was an excellent jigging stick. Casting wasn't as great with it though. Do "like" Shimano rods although I'd rather find alternatives. Compres have been fine but some Crucial and Clarus rods purchased have had problems. Fenwicks are always on the radar nowadays, solid price point.
  21. "Until I grabbed it and released the gases..." lol Warmer up there than it is here...
  22. I guess "Dutch" is European... Measures in centimeters. That could be a first here. Great fishing regardless.
  23. This Autumn the Agent Stevie Zebco and I snuck away for a short Fishin’ Mission out on the big Lake Nipigon. As always, he and I rolled with some punches and kinda sorta just made it up as we went. Finding some friends along the way, we took in some night time campfires and day long hooksets. Not entirely your typical turn of events and not entirely your typical fish either, but with the Agent along anything is possible. As always, it’s yours to read into if ya want... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/humpbacks-halos-misty-maple-moonshine/ Bunk.
  24. This is a tough question... Probably a white bucktail jig. Specks, lakers, pike, walleye, muskie, smallies and pike have all been caught on one.
  25. Banner that in the rec room Simon! With some fish mounts.
