  1. Quite a cool read Mike! Love the Larry for tuning into the precision troll game as the river is suited well for that. Big fish to be had trolling too. But this is great to read and great for you man, because it is an awesome fish, it is your evolution and it kinda inspires me personally to expand and experiment more on the Larry as well. Congrats on that biggun!
  2. Knew the fishing would be great and you'd do well. Good to see ya back pounding water. Slave is a beast for lakers and pike... likely the best lake on earth for big fish of that one-two combo. It was good to see ya too, couldn't believe it's been 10 years. Talston looks to be something amazing. Agree with Dave too, have heard great things about early season at Trout Rock. Probably only Spring Bay and some other spots on Athabasca could touch these two fisheries for size and numbers, and Midnight Sun in the Yukon for behemoth fish too. Nipigon however could compete. Solid report dood! Anyhow... lets getchya a muskie next.
  3. Yes, it is weird. That's fishing and a fish that grows on ya BIG time... but plenty of us don't have those years of it you do. Well, gotta head out muskie fishing now... and tomorrow.
  4. 10th Anniversary Friday. Thanks for reminding Terry.
  5. Dock spider scare, memories and ghost, northern lights, birthdays and family time, and plenty adventure for fish... all of it great and the white sunglasses make it even better. You do find yourself in some wonderful Ontario gems quite often Chris, keep going and keep the reports coming. Excellent pics in this one too, like those swirly fire lights.
  6. Did you take up fishing again Lew? Tell us you at least boated one muskie this season.
  7. Never do anything fun Simon. Ever!!! Totally over-rated fun is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpExZZL1fIc&list=UUHv0q0bT80q8-KrLfDR3-zw&index=15
  8. Good idea John. Should save some of the writing for the long, cold, deep freeze months too. Will be far less fishing come then. OK... beat up and skinny as a broom handle. Can't embarrass the guy... lol. Looking forward to your arrival here for some weekend in the future. We go play lots!!! Howdy stranger from the south. Thanks! Hope you get to knock some St.Clair fall giants out of the park these coming months too. Thanks for reading gentlemen.
  9. We had never seen anything like that laker either. It is truly the darkest trout, a real cool catch for the kiddo. Hit a rock shoal at 4mph which didn't kill the prop but did bend it out of shape. About 20 minutes later I smoked another shoal at same speed. That did it in. We kept fishing though cause it wasn't until about 7-8mph that the boat would start shaking. Good thing we did cause Brenda caught her best muskie an hour or so later. Last report was a long one, this one not so much. Two, maybe three more reports will close out the year. Thanks for representing dood!
  10. Two days to travel home recently from work in Nunavut gave ample time to piece together this summer fishing report. Despite being away and busy so much, weather often dismal and dreary, it's crazy to believe that within the short windows found, how friggin' awesome the fishing has been here in the valley. It kinda made it tough to leave each and every time for other things. The lake trout were on fire, some of the biggest gar came out boiling and the muskie fishing erupted. Hoping that fall can keep cooking too. The story and buffet of pictures are served fresh below if anyone's at all hungry... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/home-sizzlin-gar-greys-skis/ Thanks for reading gang... Bunk.
  11. Is Flickr cumbersome and slow Rob, or do you find it quick and easy to upload many images at once like PB?
  12. Absolutely still use them!
  13. When it comes to fall fishing and you might get soaked out there, I just put a cheaper rainsuit over my reasonably priced wet gear. Have the Bone Dry pants... Have the BPS Qualifier jacket. Both older now, both a little leaky here and there, but when it's pouring I pull out a Coleman rainsuit kept in it's own little baggy in the boat, and put it on over top. Nothing gets ya then. If it's a warm rain... who cares. If buying a single fall suit I'd just go Viking. You'll sweat wet before you get rain wet, but it'll be a warm sweat. lol.
  14. Sadly saw nothing. Spent the time stabilizing a 9 years olds C-Spine, sewing body parts and giving life saving medications. ATV versus bicycle, no helmet, picked his little body up off the dirt road with a GCS of about 7. He may not see the sun or moon again. Heard the eclipse was a little anit-climactic though.
  15. Can only hope others will do the same for all of us, in our futures. Nice!
  16. Little Zamfir with the rising sun. Seemed befitting actually.
  17. It really only takes people one muskie to start their madness. Nice one Bill.
  18. Totally agreed Chris. But what the hell can anyone do about it? I'm just honestly hoping now, that all those using the place for free, leave soon. Those that can easily move out of their plans, do so ASAP. Businesses look to other hosts that are cheaper, and go! That this is just a temporary threat, nightmare or whatever.. to drastically thin the herd and see who or what remains. As has been said, don't want to even think of the costs ahead... or work... or both which may come of this. Need a group of 10 to share an account there now, that'd maybe work under their new plan and rates for the 500 plus deal. But it'd still likely be the work to change everything that kills.
  19. Thanks fellas! For some reason, reading the replies just now I got thinking of Joey. Maybe it was the falcon pic.. I know this time of year she'd have some bird pics and some photos of the gang on their annual trip.... Bear, Slave & Athabasca were all one lake once. Lake McConnell believe it was. This cliffs in this area of Bear reminded me of parts of Slave and in other parts where it was a little more flat with some sand, it was like what I had seen on Athabasca. For what I know of Bear through photos, others and seeing some more of it as well, this part of the lake has to be the most beautiful because of the elevations, cliffs, hills and such. Around every corner, especially boating in from the big water to the furthest back bays, it changed some on route and was possibly the most interesting area I have fished lakers in the north. After trips like this Gord there's usually a few days of down time taken at home. Think it was said elsewhere, that this is just part of a fishing process. It's time consuming sure, can be work, but it's enjoyed and kinda necessary. Thank you for forgetting to grab the paper and the thoughtful response posted here. Gotchya back over at the site Brian. Thanks for that dood! I'm soooooo screwed now that Brenda's getting more into it. Doubles the cost eh! And, she cuts into half the catch. Sheeesh! Grayling are pretty cool... but not as cool than the thought and chase for 40-50-60+ pound lakers.
  20. Have had it happen too. Me on pier with a line attached to a shark and seadoo'er runs through line. Difference is, his seadoo got wrecked. The charter here is a dink... but bet he'll have a mess to deal with.
  21. This is a heckuva report man! The after dinner coffee got kinda cold getting through it! Geeeez, these guys that write a tonne and post pics!! Kill the cormorants. lol Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing man! That's alotta cool experiences wrapped up into a half season. You're lucky to have such close buds to share that with ya too. Nice to see the tattoo finished up.
  22. Exactly what I thought. Could sense that this trip was a bummer through that report. They have some better lakes up there as you know, and it planning down the road and you have any questions, drop me a line and I can probably help.
  23. There may be another day Bill. And this lodge is all about group bookings. After a great meal and some thick whiskeys, that was quite the story Doug told us. A highlight for sure. See above what was said to Bill. You've got a buddy or two to pair up with, AirMiles, etc... the bucket needs emptying my friend, maybe I could help. Thanks John. When I wrote that line and read it afterwards it got me thinking... there are actually two main character peckerless guys in GOT... and also a whole army of Unsullied. Readers in fact could get lost having to research who exactly I was talking about. Thanks for dropping in at the site guys and reading. Was worried with PhotoBucket that the changes would have me down and out for a long time rebuilding, and come Dec 31, 2018 it's gonna be rough the amount of work which may have to be done to switch all the photos of every report out, after finding a different provider. One thing is for certain, the choice that had been made to start the site was well and for good reason when I did it. Having everything all there now makes any changes ahead that less worrisome. At least it can be salvaged if need be. Because if and once the PB account closes, everything at this site and every other site is lost really... and that thought rather sucks. It's always been a fun hobby to me and for so many years a part my entire fishing process, but it's also alotta work and life, and nothing that needs to fade away just yet. Folks at this site and others, supporting these stories over the years, have genuinely helped the drive to fish more and better, and with that has come some great happiness and experiences. So thanks again all, for that. As long as there is an OFC to visit and post to, I will.
