  1. As you well know Chris, it's all that planning and dreaming which can make it that much more special, or even tear it apart sometimes. Because of having a completely new location on Nipigon this spring, an unguided and new location on Great Bear and this Nunavut fishing to plan for as well, it was all some huge country to prepare for. And there was little help. So yes, to see it but also fish it all really well IMO for first time trips, it was exciting then and just great memories now. The original draft was cut to shreds when I asked my wife to proof-read. This story actually began with a full paragraph of a very graphic and tragic scene that will always be scarred into mind now. It went deep and I felt it sucked readers right in fast with just the first few words. It also finished the story with an outcome of relief but also, sadness, tears and some hope. If BassAddict above thinks this a "masterpiece" (thanks Paul) then I kinda wish people got to read it when I thought it was, because so much more of the "Child" referred to in the title had to be removed for professional reasons. There have been "glimpses" every time that unfortunately I want to share but have to leave out of these types of reports. Was a cigarette smoking, bass playing, "skatenerd" punk too as a teen. And so the jump, the halfpipe beside the basketball court, and kids being out and about doing kid stuff was great to view from a high perched apartment window and balcony above. The ocean in the background too... it all makes for good inspiration to travel and see such things through the work I do. Can't help but share Rick, there's just so much to find cool about these places. Thanks for the kind words as well bud. "I'm not even peeking. I will save it for a long cold November afternoon after my sinus surgery to brighten my day. I might have to peek at that Neon colored Salmonid. What the??? Photoshop? Nope, I well know of your talents. I look forward to it Mr. Bunker." Sinus surgery! UGH!!! Cringe John, cringe. That's right up there with eyes, testicles and the continual sawing and hammering during hip and knee replacements of surgeries I have watched that make me wanna pass out. Good luck. Please enjoy the reads in recovery. Thanks for reading guys. Thanks OFC too.
  2. Done and easy fix. All good now.
  3. The short version or the long? To summarize here, I spent a few weeks in Nunavut this August working in an awesome little place named Taloyoak. This tundra town in the Kitikmeot region is Canada’s furthest north settlement on our mainland. Rugged and very remote, here Arctic life and culture rule. Lucky to have free time and a fishing pole, on some days off I was able to search and find char, lake trout, caribou and more while out on the beautiful barren lands. A full story with many outdoor and fish pictures is posted at my own website if looking to view. Link below... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/a-nunavut-nomad-ii-taloyoaks-caribou-char-child/ Here’s just a few pics of that recent experience north... Thanks for reading. Bunk. Here’s just a few pics of that recent experience north.
  4. Tying is a great way to pass those winter months. Quite an enjoyable past-time Brian. Nice score dood! One thing of note, the "Head Cement" truly is head cement. It's old school laquer and it will make ya dizzy for days and blur your vision. If you're into that cool, but if you're not, remember to tie in a well ventilated area.
  5. Reminded me of a return from Hearst to Moose Factory. Friend and pilot John flew us nearly the whole stretch low over the Missinaibi and Moose Rivers. Hell's Gate, ThunderHouse, Moose River Crossing, etc., it was a joy to see those places up close and personal without a week long canoe trip attached.
  6. Very sad Cliff, your touching words. My condolences.
  7. Can you send him 2000 kilometers this way Rick. Driveway here could use a little touch-up. Sounds like a great young lad. But really, aren't most when they're after our daughters....? Keep a watchful eye. lol.
  8. Quite a cool read Mike! Love the Larry for tuning into the precision troll game as the river is suited well for that. Big fish to be had trolling too. But this is great to read and great for you man, because it is an awesome fish, it is your evolution and it kinda inspires me personally to expand and experiment more on the Larry as well. Congrats on that biggun!
  9. Knew the fishing would be great and you'd do well. Good to see ya back pounding water. Slave is a beast for lakers and pike... likely the best lake on earth for big fish of that one-two combo. It was good to see ya too, couldn't believe it's been 10 years. Talston looks to be something amazing. Agree with Dave too, have heard great things about early season at Trout Rock. Probably only Spring Bay and some other spots on Athabasca could touch these two fisheries for size and numbers, and Midnight Sun in the Yukon for behemoth fish too. Nipigon however could compete. Solid report dood! Anyhow... lets getchya a muskie next.
  10. Yes, it is weird. That's fishing and a fish that grows on ya BIG time... but plenty of us don't have those years of it you do. Well, gotta head out muskie fishing now... and tomorrow.
  11. 10th Anniversary Friday. Thanks for reminding Terry.
  12. Dock spider scare, memories and ghost, northern lights, birthdays and family time, and plenty adventure for fish... all of it great and the white sunglasses make it even better. You do find yourself in some wonderful Ontario gems quite often Chris, keep going and keep the reports coming. Excellent pics in this one too, like those swirly fire lights.
  13. Did you take up fishing again Lew? Tell us you at least boated one muskie this season.
  14. Never do anything fun Simon. Ever!!! Totally over-rated fun is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpExZZL1fIc&list=UUHv0q0bT80q8-KrLfDR3-zw&index=15
  15. Good idea John. Should save some of the writing for the long, cold, deep freeze months too. Will be far less fishing come then. OK... beat up and skinny as a broom handle. Can't embarrass the guy... lol. Looking forward to your arrival here for some weekend in the future. We go play lots!!! Howdy stranger from the south. Thanks! Hope you get to knock some St.Clair fall giants out of the park these coming months too. Thanks for reading gentlemen.
  16. We had never seen anything like that laker either. It is truly the darkest trout, a real cool catch for the kiddo. Hit a rock shoal at 4mph which didn't kill the prop but did bend it out of shape. About 20 minutes later I smoked another shoal at same speed. That did it in. We kept fishing though cause it wasn't until about 7-8mph that the boat would start shaking. Good thing we did cause Brenda caught her best muskie an hour or so later. Last report was a long one, this one not so much. Two, maybe three more reports will close out the year. Thanks for representing dood!
  17. Two days to travel home recently from work in Nunavut gave ample time to piece together this summer fishing report. Despite being away and busy so much, weather often dismal and dreary, it's crazy to believe that within the short windows found, how friggin' awesome the fishing has been here in the valley. It kinda made it tough to leave each and every time for other things. The lake trout were on fire, some of the biggest gar came out boiling and the muskie fishing erupted. Hoping that fall can keep cooking too. The story and buffet of pictures are served fresh below if anyone's at all hungry... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/home-sizzlin-gar-greys-skis/ Thanks for reading gang... Bunk.
  18. Is Flickr cumbersome and slow Rob, or do you find it quick and easy to upload many images at once like PB?
  19. Absolutely still use them!
  20. When it comes to fall fishing and you might get soaked out there, I just put a cheaper rainsuit over my reasonably priced wet gear. Have the Bone Dry pants... Have the BPS Qualifier jacket. Both older now, both a little leaky here and there, but when it's pouring I pull out a Coleman rainsuit kept in it's own little baggy in the boat, and put it on over top. Nothing gets ya then. If it's a warm rain... who cares. If buying a single fall suit I'd just go Viking. You'll sweat wet before you get rain wet, but it'll be a warm sweat. lol.
  21. Sadly saw nothing. Spent the time stabilizing a 9 years olds C-Spine, sewing body parts and giving life saving medications. ATV versus bicycle, no helmet, picked his little body up off the dirt road with a GCS of about 7. He may not see the sun or moon again. Heard the eclipse was a little anit-climactic though.
  22. Can only hope others will do the same for all of us, in our futures. Nice!
  23. Little Zamfir with the rising sun. Seemed befitting actually.
  24. It really only takes people one muskie to start their madness. Nice one Bill.
