Destroying my Kenai. It's sled isn't meant for towing behind a skidoo. The bigger Clams are great though. Just heavy.

Happy Holidays fellas!!!! And Joey wherever she might be???

If you still can, pick up a Symetre before they're done. They're work horses for the money.

Your favorite meal, snack, in the hut while fishing
Moosebunk replied to npt1's topic in General Discussion
Usually just a tuna sammy, lots of butter and pepper. Some old cheese and maybe a big dill pickle. Like me some jerky or Jelly Bellies for a snack too. -
Would like to see a painting John. Pam Adellaire(sp) was once a regular member here who took on painting Hancock Peak, a picture of a cabin up near Moosonee. Dan who's another member here tattoo'd one picture onto himself. Bit of a shutterbug so it's always rather flattering to have people like the photos, even to that degree. Maybe Bren and I will find that muskie again next year. With her bananas, she was the best luck in the boat this year by far. Hard to decide whether it's fall or spring fishing I like better around here but it always seems both seasons fly by too quick. Just wish there had been 2 or 3 more outings to find that esox. Thanks for the kind reply, Happy Holidays to you too. My girls are angels and I'm one lucky man to have 'em but you're right Joe... time flies. Summer applying to Universities this past week and Leah starting highschool next fall it's kinda hard to believe. Thank ya fellas. Happy Holidays and a big ole sturgeon to you both for the new year. I still wanna puke when I think about it. Happy Holidays to you and yours too Jay! I heard that she loves to fish. lol Great person, lots of fun to fish with.

This past weekend the boat got tucked in the garage for the year. The lakes in the valley have a little frozen skim forming, the snow is falling and waiting at the ready is the ice gear. Past few months between work there have been more than enough days to chase fish around home. It turned into a great season for really BIG fish... and not exactly what I had been expecting either. "The Autumn Arms Assault" weighs in on it all so if interested, please read on... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/the-autumn-arms-assault/ Thanks as always, and Happy Holidays to all OFC'ers!!! Bunk.

Believe they are done and doors closed here in Ottawa now. Always liked LeB's. Personally never an issue with service. Mail order was excellent all the way to Attawapiskat and Moose Factory during those years too. Too bad.

They weren't at the top here either. Didn't figure on ever fishing them actually. Glad to have done so. With you on this Brian, tarpon are at the top, atlantics and roosters. Can see tarpon coming next. Hook up to landing them ratio is about 1 in 8to10. Salt water kings! Thanks Simon. Can't help with Antigua but if it's fishing like what was done in Florida I can maybe give a few general ideas that might help. Good luck there.

Humpbacks, Halos & Misty Maple Moonshine.
Moosebunk replied to Moosebunk's topic in General Discussion
John... I deal with enough bucket emptying at work some days. lol I'd rather be like a bear and just ***t in the woods. Camera (now in the shop getting repaired) has a polarized lens cover. It makes colors pop, cuts down on glare and is easier to keep clean. Without it, colors are certainly more dull in the photos. As for the coho specks and muskie sized pike... Well, it's really only about 70% EAP that does that. lol. Some are more privileged than others. lmao! -

Thanks guys! Obviously love the place cause if I think about it, there's probably over 100 hours just in driving back and forth to it a few times a year. Nipigon is as close to the remote arctic a guy can go, without having to fly anywhere. And we know there's awesome fish to be had. -
Keep or no keep... the fishing must have been fun. Used to love keeping me a few 34-36 inch range teeners caught through the ice. Cedar planked then smothered with baby scallops in maple, garlic butter and it was a total gastrogasm!

Pending New WR Ling Caught in NWT!!!!
Moosebunk replied to DRIFTER_016's topic in General Discussion
Had read somewhere that the heart of Bear isn't a laker.. but a giant ling instead. Maybe it swam the Mackenzie. -
32 or 36. Medium... or medium/light. Pretty well only use the Premier Ice Rods from St.Croix. Never an issue. Great for eyes and lakers.

Fishing Ontario's Last Frontier: Echoing Lake Report
Moosebunk replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
That place is a fish factory Chris, and those lakers have great colors. Was rooting for ya in the dock challenge, get your big silver dick award and dishes cleaned. Is it calling ya back or are you heading some place else next year? -
Some nifty innovation there Brian!

I'm totally with Rick. That is an incredible fish. An over 15 is very tough to go beyond. Consider yourselves lucky though, the fishing has been terribly slow. We had one good day 13 for 15 with 12 eyes weeks ago, then 5 for 7, then suffered my first ever skunk since starting fishing there in 2009. Most of the fish in the 8-10 pound range. but the reports getting back now... SLOW!!! It's so weird. People picking off fish one or two a day here and there. Little charter chatter. May get back once more yet...

My sister in law fighting for our outdoor rights
Moosebunk replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
Agreed! There's a season for hunting... there's no season on most other recreation and as Bill said, the hunters are the minority. -
That is a score. I'm wondering if there's any left around here now? Just to have a second one at that price would be mint!

Hoping for some more warm weather. Ottawa River, Larry and Quinte were slow to cool and the fish a little funky in the warm bath we had last week. Should be a couple weeks of prime fishing to be had yet.

That's what I thought too. The right person for the job she raised solid points. Sadly though, I often find that once Council's make up their minds to make changes such as this, without "first" seeking public input, that public input later becomes merely a production. Shawna shouldn't be speaking to have them "reverse" a decision. My bet is one or two people with ties to council uses the park, doesn't like hunters, and that squeaky wheel is getting their grease. As it was said, there has never been an incident and the likelihood is slim to none there ever will be. -
Work contracts. It's like being retired. All work when I work, lots of play when I don't. All that may change for the worse in the New Year though... The few I fought were, in different ways too. The big bull was exhausting, like a big sturgeon but bigger and faster initially. Only a marlin and friend's yellowfin has shown more power. It's not always true. Thanks for checking this one out gang. Only a couple more to catch up on to end the 2016 then it'll be a long haul to the next. During the down time over the winter, rewriting/editing some old reports to throw up on the site I may post a few here for any interested.

What are you watching lately, TV, Movies..etc
Moosebunk replied to ckewley's topic in General Discussion
Had watched the first 5 seasons while in Nunavut last winter. Got home, told Bren she's gotta check it out, she got hooked, and so ended up re-watching it all again... Almost as good the second time and you're right Terry. Finishing up Luke Cage which is so-so. Just finished Marco Polo and Suits which I thought were both good. Need to get back onto Narcos. Walking Dead died for me a few seasons back but, it's my 17 years old's favorite show and part of our weekly quality time and convos so it good that this season they've taken it up a notch. So far been liking most of it. Dana Carvey's recorded stand-up show had me laughing through one morning too. -
I was a newbie to this, still am. And during the week everything from carrying bags, towing carts, fighting fish, taking pictures, baiting, rigging, casting, driving, etc., was all teamwork. I'd doubt any one single angler could safely land the 250+ pound bull sharks on their own, (especially in bigger surf) so it was good we had extra able bodies to help in every CPR way. The smaller sharks though, could see me wanting to return to cast topwaters for them and tarpon. They could be more manageable. Reeling in that bull from beginning to end was a single tug-of-war that was great fight, but not something that needs repeating anytime soon. It was actually a challenging trip in many different ways

Down in Florida there was this hurricane named Eddie that made a big ole mess to clean up. Couple days later my hairy, pale ass landed in the Sunshine State for a week of shark fishing. Teeth and grit, sweat and spit, I'm rather thankful to the surf, sands and fish God's for some southern hospitality, delicious subs to-go, full moons and rows and rows and rows of razor sharp teeth that didn't bite any toes off. Bring your towel and drink and come hang on the beach... but just beware of JAWS! Full report here... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/hurricane-beaching-big-bully-sharks/ As always, thanks for reading. Bunk.
