  1. Hmmmm... returned from vacation only to find this dick move made by PB. In their fine print, any users with a paid "Plus" account should continue to have normal usage, including bandwidth for 3rd party, until Dec 31, 2018 as long as their paid account has good standing. Luckily, I thought, with a Plus 20 account, this good grace would be given. In an even finer print though, PB notes they have the right to limit any excessive bandwidth use. Unfortunately today, after finishing what is one rather huge arctic report, all photos are not being supported. Everything prior to now, still good. I think all would agree this has to be the nastiest move a web provider such as this, could ever make. Reading their new plans, I want to vomit. Truthfully, with 1000's of hours into photos and writing spread out over the years, and surely many others with even greater life spent, PB will hopefully come under enough fire that they change their tune. If they shut down... I think personally, I'd be finished online. There's not enough time in a day to get back nearly 15 years. So what does IMGUR allow? And from FB... is it only "linking" provided but with no offsite 3rd party support?
  2. Lord I love that lake! Great shots floater. You're hooked now, you'll go back. So much to explore in that area.
  3. I'm with Terry on this! An honest angler's experience is greatly appreciated. Not sure how this one even got sold to you Cliff despite the luxurious brochure. To get to Armstrong station you have to pass by a million quality walleye and pike lakes... and time and driving equals money and energy. The price tag for your trip doesn't include that... but still, at $1800+PP here's just one example of a quality walleye fishery at almost half the price and 2/3's the drive... http://www.onamanlake.com/index.html Had fished this lake for an afternoon and evening while other boats were out there, but it never felt crammed, always plenty space to get lost on your own and walleye (as Tyler Dunn from here has also experienced) was incredible. Bigger average sized fish than usual too. Numerous other great walleye lakes would have been available out of Cochrane, Hearst and Nakina for less money as well. Have had some bad experiences on trips as well. Not every trip can be the best ever, most amazing, super epic, perfect experience. In fact, almost always is there something that could have been improved upon. Judging from your write up though, their cons weighed equal or greater than the pros, and at that price and distance, you could have done much better in finding at the very least, a more balanced trip or, one with fishing just as great but accommodations much nicer. It seems like you feel you got screwed... and that sucks because fly-in fishing trips are generally great experiences.
  4. Still doing research Rick! It's very fun and time consuming. Hard to break away from really. No novel or even publication could have the same effect. How do you get 100 pictures in there per outing, without just making it a picture book? Thanks for believing though brutha! Got into them too late... Sort of. Now I'd have to play catch up... but you know they'll never be the same again really. Past prime? Who knows... until they give us more. Klotz is some pretty big water just kinda sitting out there by itself. Can imagine that moons ago it was a real decent fishery, and at least being in that area there's plenty more bushwhack lakes to get into. Today, I don't think Klotz has much to give, and have never heard anything very good about that lake. StevieZ finds that, unless you've got a float plane or argo, many of the 11 corridor dishpan walleye lakes with easy access, are pretty spent nowadays. To have made that your first trip into Northern Ontario though, I can only imagine would have been a super exciting experience. And by our walleye standards around here, those lakes are still gems to fish. Have often wanted to stop and fish there actually. Klotz/Flint, Longlac, Partridge, Wild Goose, Kag... one could make a great trip out of exploring those lakes for a week and some.
  5. That many days and that kind of budget, you could do one helluva St.Lawrence roady. Couple days Ganonoque, then Cornwall, then Lac St. Louis area, and finish Lower Ottawa maybe..? Camps, lodges, motels along the way..
  6. Thanks doods Don't know if there's any better out there today. It's my favorite part of the band but there's still so much to like about their sound. Would like to see another album or see them live.
  7. You gotta go a little easier on yourself bud.. Somehow! More pain control and lay up awhile. Feel better.
  8. For a decade they've allowed free image hosting to the masses... Guess it's time they want something in return..? 15 billion images!!! Have had to pay for some years now. Every now and then things get glitchy, like today (which they've posted about changes being made) but otherwise they're purdy good! Might have about 4,000 photos in there now and I'm at 37% space used on a $40 annual plan.
  9. Personally can't stand these idiots who post a tonne of pictures and write on and on and on about their fishing... For awhile I tried the video thing and had some fun with making them. But it was just as much effort or more than the writing and hardly anyone viewed them. Personally, I like both but, if time is limited it's the video that will be skipped and I'll read a report and view pictures. Videos as well, are often just snippets of the full experience, same as a written report, it's just that the highlights are presented differently. At this site and others, there's very few videos I'll personally remember down the road despite liking many seen, but there are a good many reports by members who wrote excellent accounts of their fishing, that have stuck with me always. And this is probably because, a written word finds deep roots. It's like... all those times you've said or heard in life... "the movie was great, but the book was waaaaay better." A likely reason for that, books tend to draw you in much deeper... they deeply root.
  10. Crap tonne of bass! Good job for the wee lad. Rob... you either kinda just grew more beard from not having one, or you've sprinkled on a little more salt and pepper than the last time I saw ya! lol
  11. How'd the annual walleye trip go Jay? Congrats "old" friend. You're there! Enjoy your last day tomorrow. Can't believe you're retiring actually... you'll likely still supply for as long as you can. Wondered a time or two Bill if you and your dad still make the trip? You nailed it with that picture. StevieZ was quoting the movie... I was tossing the "rags" about in my tent to try and make a bed. lol. Thanks Doug. Nice to know you're still around, you've been quiet here of late. Talked with Pat this week. Still not sure, gonna "maybe" aim for something next fall. My winters are getting busier with work... next summer there's two trips already on the go with likely a third to come and some work/char fishing in Nunavut. But I'd like to get there. Tool rules on the drive man! Thanks for reading guys.
  12. Thanks for reading fellas! Agreed... they aren't nice. But if they had all been deer flies or black flies that would have really sucked too. A reality on almost every trip. With this site there would be little worry... very protected for boat rocking except there were some stumps and debris at the landing that if the boat got sideways the hull or motor could take some damage. On the way out... well over an hour and about four hours to get everything on and offloaded to camp. Stevie lost three or four lures to pike while speck fishing and snagged one up. I lost a fly and lure to pike. We got one lure back, 5 days later when catching a thieving pike nearly 2 kilometers away from where it had stolen the lure earlier. That made us chuckle... Used to lose many more lures to snags but have learned an interesting "move" to make using boat, rod and right timing that gets them off 90% of the time in one shot without having to back up all the way to the lure. Even with Stevie, he quickly learned to be right on cue as to when to pop free. I remember years passed losing a dozen to two dozen lures a trip... But the pike weren't over-running the shorelines where specks were, so that helped this trip too.
  13. Annual spring trip out west to Nipigon is in the books. Won't be a late summer trip happening this year. My buddy Stevie and I tackled some all new water for us, putting miles and miles in the boat. It was great. Something very satisfying about researching and then exploring, while catching fish along the way. A total mixed bag of weather fronts kept fishing interesting but we pegged some real quality brutes this year, in great numbers too. It's a read as always, loaded with plenty pictures. You might like it given the chance... check out the link here! http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/nipigons-no-ragrets/ Enjoy the summer OFC'ers! Bunk.
  14. Do you know of anyone Rob has actually restricted from launching there? Did you yourself have problems? He's a pretty reasonable guy most days. Anyhow, happy it worked out for you floater. Wanted some all new water to explore so didn't end up seeing you. Was out on the lake all week. You did just fine on the fishing for sure. Our first time there I think we only got three specks. Big area to break down but you gotta start somewhere, every trip will get better and better. Looking forward to the pics.
  15. Got a pee bucket. Also store a cheap rainsuit, well waterproofed first aid, much of what's been said above and some tools.
  16. Not even your age John but beginning to think the same way for different reasons. Once the youngest if off to University in 4-5 years country living will be finished. Downsizing and into town... mostly because 6 months of the year or more, Bren and I won't be living anywhere but north for work. Good luck in the life change, you'll be A-OK!
  17. Blowing out that knee put some grey in that beard too. Getting moving dood!
  18. Great job! Would enjoy dropping one of those into the mouth of a ski or big laker for sure.
  19. 1. Sutton River Ontario. Brook trout. Have several inlaws and work friends who have gone and it's been something I've put off since around... ohhh about 2000-2001. 2. George River at Helen's Falls Quebec. Atlantic salmon, arctic char, brook and lake trout. "Almost" made it there in 2008. 3. Ekulak River, Victoria Island Nunavut. 80,000 arctic char push through a 2 mile stream during three weeks in late August. Chrome salt strong bullets. 4. Costa Rica tarpon. On the Atlantic side during May, through a couple different resorts, two anglers in a boat could potentially hook into a 100 tarpon over a week. 5. Panama or Guatemala. Roosterfish. 6. Anywhere for Taimen. 7. Anywhere in Nunavut for char or lakers. 8. Thinglevir in Iceland for big browns would be cool too. Three fish to catch... Atlantic salmon, tarpon and roosterfish. Outside of fishing I'd like to take Brenda to Scotland.
  20. Cool! Jigging over trolling always better. But whatever works to get fish in the boat.
  21. Moon cycle 28 days.... Menstrual cycle 28 days... The origins of "lunacy."
  22. And good people like you are the reason we survive!
  23. Resurrected!!! Because it was only just found for the first time. Awesome read. That'll get the pike slime juices flowing.
