  1. What part? I’ll see you out there? I’ll be around the big sound
  2. nope, can only be totally replaced. very pricy
  3. That’s how most musky days end lol especially on g bay sinker…I can’t tell you the number of days I’ve fished musky on g bay and I’ve still never caught a big one hahahaa that’s why saturday, running the boat wide open, money on the line, 5 fish….there’s nothing better
  4. I think you are just trying to deal with some unfinished business from last fall lol damn musky guys are like vegans…WE GET IT, you musky fish! Lmaooo
  5. It’s the most wonderful time of the yeareerrrrereerrr forecast looks ok….rain seems to have backed off, gonna be windy though. Might make it a bit tougher for the guys wanting to find some of those still bedded fish. me personally, I’m fishing a friends derby on the tri lakes, put a bit of cash down, fish all day, come back eat some steaks drink some beer and shoot the poop cant frigging wait, I’m already out in the driveway, re-cleaning the boat lol head up tomorrow, rig rods and make final preparations. For zone 14 next Saturday, it’s my first opener at the new place. Done a very minor amount of scouting while laketrout and pike fishing. Haven’t seen a bass yet, but I have and idea of where they will be. I’m up there for 10 straight days so I should start figuring something out by weeks end. It’s been a number of years since I’ve had a totally blank slate and didn’t just go to my favourite honey hole to throw topwater on opener morning. I’m most excited to see if I can find some largemouth though, I’ve looked at some Satellite photos and have come up with some ideas, but I haven’t seen the areas in person. did a ton of work on the boat over the winter, I’ve used it laketrout fishing but I’m extra excited to see how things run up on the grass and on the shoals! where are you headed?
  6. You’ll need to check cross compatibility. minkotta are real dinks about this stuff I had a gen 1 terrova ipilot and bought a terrova pedal, same connector same everything except it included an anchor button on the pedal and it wouldn’t work. trust me…I’ve been through my share with those guys. There’s a Garmin on the front of my boat now because of it.
  7. If it’s a gen 1 it’s the pedals fail with the motherboard. The pedals are impossible to get. Basically your only option is to replace the motherboard and buy a new pedal. At that point you’re almost at the price of a new powerdrive. I went through this myself and Jimmer did too
  8. What gen powerdrive? If it’s a Gen 1 you are basically screwed. gen 2 the motherboards can be replaced for about $3-400
  9. The bass boat industry legitimately sold out of boats in 2020. All brands. it’s basically impossible to buy a motor to repower. guys that bought lowrance forward facing sonar in December are still waiting for delivery. Those are some strong indicators. nice fish by the little man, he’s a lot younger than I am and has my personal best tied.
  10. this all depends on how you fish of course. But for smaller rigs, the tinner is kind of the quiver killer. A tiller kinda just does it all. The one thing its best at is that you can throw it in basically absolutely anywhere that a boat can get into. A tiller fishes somewhat like a bass boat, but gives you the options of a Deep V. Obviously the ride isnt there, but thats such a minor detail in a day of fishing. If you like being on the trolling motor and casting for fish, nothing beats a bass boat...but you cant troll or downrig in a bass boat...well you could hypothetically because anything is possible, but you get what im saying. If bass boats didnt exist id definitely be in a tiller without a question, unless I had a stupid amount of flow to buy a big old alumacraft or lund tyee.
  11. you made the right choice...for fishability in 16 foot or smaller boats..tiller or nothing.
  12. its true....nothing and I mean seemingly nothing can resist a fly. I dont think ive ever seen a fish turn away from one
  13. had to share this one with the newfy inlaws...they loved it.
  14. i run into these things throwing cranks against rock piles in the kawarthas. I also like catching them through the ice, but to catch em on the fly rod would be the ultimate. Really really cool to catch crappies up shallow. I guess now is the time for that!
  15. honestly...and I understand the privilege and entitlement that saying this accompanies because I know health care workers have been put through the ringer. People have had family members die. People are experiencing long haul complications related to this illness. But if you are asking about me personally I have lost the one thing that literally aside from my family and girlfriend that I love the most, and thats just going fishing with my buddies. Absolutely ive done my best with the situation to have some work arounds. Last year twice I quarantined in advance and after to go and camp on my friends lawn to have a mini fishing derby with the guys, but that also meant I could only fish with one friend all weekend. In the winter I had friends come up and fish with me for the day in their own hut. But seriously the old days have been taken away from me by this stupid virus. Once again im not trying to complain because things could be worse, way worse...but im tired and ready to move on. Im lucky enough to be fully vaccinated, so I can for the most part do whatever I want on my own accord, but I still have to be extremely mindful of who I interact with for their own health. This includes primarily my immuno compromised mom and my girlfriends father. I also am still not allowed to go to my best friend's trailer to fish due to their "no visitor" policy. Heres what I want...and honestly I feel like it may happen sooner then later...but to say im waiting patiently for it would be an understatement. I want...to be able to call my buddies up and say "hey lets fish this weekend" and what that entails is us meeting up wherever the hell we want, with 2-3-4-5 of us, we arrive, we gear up and rig our rods, we wake up early, we have a coffee, we go fish all day, we come home, we play some poker and talk about our day on the water with some cold beers, we cook some steaks and we inevitably pass the Ef out early to wake up and fish again the next morning. Literally, for a guy like me, this is what I live for. Its my favourite thing in the world to do and its been taken from me. Maybe Im a cry baby, but maybe some people can relate to what I'm saying.
  16. seems crazy to me considering how bloody hot its been this spring.
  17. Spend a day casting and driving around out of a bass boat. it’s hard to go back lol im spoiled, my old man runs a newer 19.5 foot alumacraft with a four stroke yamaha just an absolutely beautiful fishing rig…and I can’t stand fishing out of it almost always. I like it when I have to fish when it’s below 0 in the fall, when waves are exceeding 3 feet and if you need to do any sort of trolling…that’s it. I’d rather fish a 2 foot shorter bass boat every other time. theres just something about being on pad and how glass bass boats drive, and when casting standing a foot off of the water with literally no obstruction
  18. I see guys unhook their boats before backing in and I always think to myself that they are insane.
  19. 4 out of 5 biggest walleyes were up shallow on clear sunny days throwing chatterbaits and jerkbaits for bass...go figure looks like some very nice table fare there
  20. Habs face real competition when they get out of the north and will be crushed. Watch the Colorado vegas series if you want to see some real hockey, and watch McKinnon. He’s what a real superstar looks like in the playoffs
  21. Here’s what threw me totally off, it specifically references the french river and its bass regulations in another section. Talks about wolesley bay being included, references a slot limit on bass but makes no reference to the closed season. the lake nip exclusions then reference waters of the French river and gives a bunch of specific instructions on where that is and has a third Saturday in June opener but doesn’t reference wolesley bay specifically. Just a complete mess.
  22. thats part of the problem here...$1000 fine? They had over 100 fish in one outing. Something tells me its somewhat easy to make that $1000 back and get back to commercially fishing again in no time.
  23. you are indeed not. This was actually clarified directly by the Ministry after a bunch of catch photo and release tournament style guys brought it up. The Ministry came out with the following statement Dear Bass Tournament or Event Organizer, The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) recently announced changes to the Fisheries Management Zone 20 (FMZ 20) bass seasons effective January 1, 2021. New for FMZ 20, is a catch and release season for bass (smallmouth and largemouth) from January 1 to May 10. Several tournament organizers have enquired about hosting catch, photo, measure and release events during the catch and release season. Taking time to measure, weigh and photograph a fish in a strictly catch and release fishery is not permitted. MNRF direction on what anglers must do with their fish when there is no legal possession limit is as follows: “If an angler catches a fish that cannot be legally possessed (e.g., during the closed season, prohibited size, exceeds the catch and possession limits), the fish must be immediately released at the place and time of capture. This includes fish that may be injured during catch. This information is available to anglers on page 11 of the 2021 Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary.” For further information on the immediate release provisions around catch and release seasons or competitive fishing in Ontario (generally) please contact: Dan Taillon Fisheries Section, Fish and Wildlife Policy Branch, MNRF [email protected] 705-772-8748
