Check all the terminals on the relay switch to see if anything may have fried inside. For service, check with Rocky's in Orillia. I know he does Minn Kota parts and service, but not sure about Motor Guide.

Little Missinabie Lake (a Fly in with Air Dale out of Wawa)
Chuck Enwinde replied to RickOnt's topic in General Discussion
Nice going Rick. Looks like a great trip. Interesting note about the whitey - it sure looks like a chunker. I think I remember Brock telling me that one of those northern whities won the blind taste test at the fish fry one night. -
Maybe one of these attached to the collar might help. https://www.amazon.com/12-Deerfly-Patches-TredNot-Strips/dp/B0038RO1YI

Looks like you can park there, and fish there https://www.google.com/maps/@44.3097289,-80.4864151,3a,59.8y,94.63h,88.07t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sDh1ClURzAjTUz9qpclhB7A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en Also all the fast moving streams in the area hold trout

Right on Matt, looks like a fun trip. Did you guys do a loop back to Brent or just there and back? I like the philosophy of keeping everything as light as possible right down to the ultra light pepper mill...... then throw a couple six packs in at the end.

Something doesn't sound right. Is it losing all power? The bottom 1/4 of throttle sometimes feels "empty" but you shouldn't have to let off to get power back.

JB's Fishing Depot usually has a pretty good selection of bigger swim baits. If I remember right, Adam ordered some of his from the UK and got a much better price.

I knew we'd received too much rain yesterday...

My 8 year old niece has determined that the two that hang out in my yard prefer cut up green grapes over corn. And that the hen "is a bit greedy". -
What should I look for in a Baitcaster?
Chuck Enwinde replied to LittleWorm's topic in General Discussion
I agree with what's been said. It's a worthwhile endeavor and you'd be better off to pick up a quality used reel. You can't really go wrong with darkwater's offer. You could also post a wanted ad in the classified section. Casting light baits into the wind with a line drive cast is probably the the most difficult, so do the opposite of that until you get the timing down. Heavier baits with the wind at your back and higher arching casts will end up in less backlashes while you're learning. Also side arm casting reduces the chances of "spiking" your first cast. -
Perch spinning rod and reel set up - Simcoe
Chuck Enwinde replied to guastels's topic in General Discussion
Me too. I find light action rods dampen too much of the feel. Chucking small baits or float fishing are about the only times I'll drop down to lighter actions. -
Perch spinning rod and reel set up - Simcoe
Chuck Enwinde replied to guastels's topic in General Discussion
I use a medium action 7ft rod and 2500 size reel. 8-10lb nanofil and usually a 3/4 oz drop shot weight. Granted I'm not in it for the thrill of the fight when I'm perch fishing. But this rig gets down to them quick if they are under you and if they're not, you'd be hard pressed to find a better searching rig. You can cast it a mile and work it back relatively quickly while staying in the strike zone the whole time. -
Ice was still good in Innisfil on Saturday, shoreline was ok too. Things could change quickly with the current forecast though.

G. Loomis GL3 Rod/Sustain Reel
Chuck Enwinde replied to 12 Volt Man's topic in Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Thanks Ron. And yeah B, guilty as charged. I was going to pick up a new Stradic, but when I saw I could get a Sustain and a nice Loomis rod for the same price, I couldn't resist. I have no excuse for the casting rod lol. And I still got those floats for ya. -

PM on the way. -
Still good a little up the road from Baysville, about 16`` where I was. ATV`s and sleds out and about. There is about 5 inches of fresh snow.

Hey Ronzo, I went out off Lockhart yesterday and was surprised at how much ice we lost in the last few days. Still fishable but the clock is ticking. And I'd say access at Lockhart is officially toast for machines. One of your neighbours tried with an ATV and it ended with a tow strap and a broken fender.
-
Nice going Jimmer . Access on the west side was not great either, you'd need a plank to get on now where I was. Ice was still 16" but the top 2" was mush by the afternoon.

Think I'm going to give it a day to hopefully tighten back up. Might be a bit sloppy out there right now. Thursday looks like a beauty day if you're up for another go.
-
You'll notice which way your line is "leaning" in areas with current. Sometimes on Quinte you need drill a seperate hole a few feet down current to pick up your bait.

Eye of Quebec indeed. Cool trip to a cool lake.

Purchasing a used boat from a dealer % rate
Chuck Enwinde replied to AKRISONER's topic in General Discussion
I'd agree with this. Two foot itis or a motor upgrade will cost you a lot more than interest payments. Get the boat you want. -
lures, and 1 lefthand baitcaster for sale
Chuck Enwinde replied to Snidley's topic in Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I'll take the floats Paul. B, you can have the line through floats. I'm up to Simcoe a couple times a week usually, we can figure something out. -
The Magic Lure, anyone recognize this spoon?

Are you referring to the legendary Drifter, then Tournament Drifter, then G.Loomis float reel? Blasphemy I say. -
Recommendations for a wknd ice bungalow trip
Chuck Enwinde replied to Smokercrafty's topic in General Discussion
. Reeds Outdoor Adventures are always on fish. Bear Creek has a very solid reputation. Ice Bungalows if you want a TV for the Leafs game. Rob Hyatt is another good one. Lots of choices but you may need to call a few to get a weekend rental this late in the game. -
Awesome fish Joey. Slick video too.
