  1. Very cool indeed. Now I'm going to tell my buddies I pretty much know Trent lol. It does beg the question though, does he fish?
  2. Thanks guys. It's like the old saying "if you want to win a farting contest, you got be willing to **** yourself" err something like that. Skunks are a definite possibility. I know places with lots of pike, and places with big pike. Still looking for the spot with lots of big pike.
  3. Got out for some late ice pike fishing this weekend with a couple of buddies. We set out 6 tip ups ranging from 6 - 18ft. Two live suckers, and four dead baits - two sumo herring from Nipissing and two regular sized herring. 8 hours in we still hadn't had a flag and it was starting to look like one of those days. The area doesn't produce many fish but it does have some monsters. At about 5:20pm I glanced over at the furthest (6ft) tip up for the millionth time and I had to blink twice. FLAAAG!! Ran over and saw the T spinning. When I set the hook, it felt heavy but it came to the hole relatively easy, I said to my buddy "I don't think it's that big". Well, I think it must of heard me because it ripped off all of the line I had pulled in and then some. It took some doing to get it's head pointed up the hole but it worked out well because my other buddy was ready to take a wicked pic. My buddy wanted a pic of her tail in the hole when I was releasing her but she wanted none of it. One more fish from the same hole about 20 minutes later - again on a regular sized herring, and that was it. Tried again on Sunday for the last day of the season but I should have known I'd used up all my luck already lol..
  4. I'd work on itemizing everything in and around the cottage that will need to be replaced. There is virtually no way that you'll remember everything but everything lost has a replacement value - from the bed sheets to the utensils. I had to make a claim a few years back- forgot that each of the reels I lost had ~$25 worth of Powerpro on. Best of luck.
  5. Picked some up around the same time last year. Can confirm that late ice pike also love eating them.
  6. I'd go with a woolly bugger or an eggsucking leech. And Jay, I love pike but I'd have to give it a stern talking to, before releasing it in to a pool with brookies.
  7. You can get in to Black from Moore, if you think Moore might get a little small after a few days.
  8. I'd say 90% of the "whitefish" I see from Nip are actually very large herring. She did good to get an actual whitey. I've been out with Reed's about 15 times and I've never got one - though I did see a big school of them on the camera one time.
  9. I used to golf lots. I still do, but I used to too. I think I'd take Hank on both ends of fins and skins.
  10. Good Luck at the shows Bruce. I agree with B, but anyone not fishing should definitely consider trying to make it. Really good mix of new and used gear and some really good deals to be had for the bargain hunter.
  11. Dang! Did you tow the Car and the Rowboat with the sled? I heard about these through the grapevine, nice to see some pics. I bet if the whitey's could like this post, they would lol.
  12. Not sure, but the defenders may qualify as "winter tires" for insurance discount purposes. Would probably make your decision a little easier if they do. FWIW I've got Goodyear Duratracs on a '14 Tacoma and have been very happy with them.
  13. It depends, if quality fish are moving through the area, it can pay off to wait. If there is no evidence of quality fish, then moving is definitely in order. Sometimes it doesn't take much either.
  14. Looking good huzzsaba. Couple of tips for your gear. The hub can turn in to a kite easily, I like to sink an anchor before I even take mine out of the bag if there is any wind at all. Treat your auger well and it will treat you well, but one bang on the ice could render it useless. It's so much easier to cut with blades in mint condition that it's worth every effort to keep them that way. Good luck on Cooks.
  15. That's a nice pickereye but I'm almost as impressed about the keeper perch. And it looks like a fine spot for a beauty of a hut. Looks like some thought went in to building that. Mind sharing how deep you're set up in? Strikes me as the kind of spot that could cough a big pike or two as well.
  16. I'd make sure you want it cut first. Depending on your boat the 60" shaft may come in handy on some of the bigger waters. Especially if 45" is already too short. I was in Aikmans recently and he had Minn Kota opened up so I'd say it's still a certified repair place. I've always had good service from Rocky's too.
  17. Exactly. Doesn't hurt to check with the baitshops but only trust your spud bar. Way too many variables with questionable ice, and the cost of a mistake is too high to trust anything else.
  18. Dangerous for sure. This means the rest of the ice now has somewhere to move to if the winds come up again.
  19. Me too, but then I like all tackle shops. They actually have a really good selection for a little shop. Maybe not great if you're looking for intel, but if you need bait or tackle, it's a good shop. Norland Convenience, is also a good spot if you're not going as far as Minden.
  20. Paging chris.brock. And good for you Lou, "he who casts last, laughs last" or something like that.
  21. I'll take it if you still have it. PM on the way.
  22. You can probably thank me for the hot bite Sunday morning. I decided to leave Saturday night lol.
  23. Stupid Quinte walleye, I knew I should have headed north. Good to see Colin got all of his terminal tackle kinks worked out just in time. Kind of surprised Stan didn't beat him to the line at least once lol.
  24. Good stuff as always Bunk. When I saw that first pic of Clive, I thought you're beard had got away from ya a bit lol.
  25. Nice going Dave. A golf course and peacocks, sounds like a hell of a back yard. I heard you guys did well down there on the Harris chain - way to represent.
