  1. My Simms have lasted me about five years so far and I never used to get more than a season out of a pair of cheap waders. Granted I haven't done as much bush whacking as I used to. I picked mine up at Angling Specialties in Mississauga and got a better deal than the box stores were offering.
  2. Pretty sure that's an alligator gar. Cool pic.
  3. ^^Makes sense. I think the curious part is that all of their stomachs were empty not so much that the bite was tough. Were they mostly long and skinny?
  4. The flyrod is almost definitely unnecessary but, if you love using it - then bring it. The portage to Welcome isn't bad at all really. I'd plan to double it and bring some luxury items including the flyrod.
  5. I use a two twist clinch knot for quick strike rigs. The knots ain't pretty and they don't cinch up tight but I haven't had one fail..... yet.
  6. As Brian pointed out - the Ice Armour suit is not a float/survival suit. The Arcitic Armour is. Fishing World also carries the Striker Suits - worth a look as well if you`re there.
  7. I'll second Reeds. They launch out of Sunset Park in North Bay. I was there in a bugalow about ten days ago and the fishing was very good for perch and slot walleyes.
  8. Biggest I've seen was about three pounds but the record is over six. Most of the ones I've caught actually had one faint red dot with a blue halo if you looked close but yeah, those are Rory's.
  9. Thanks for the great day guys. New friends, beautiful lakes, awesome weather and even a few fish to top it off. You're right, you can't beat a trip like that. It's funny, a few weeks ago I was praying for an early ice season - now I'm hoping it holds off a couple more weeks. And chris.brock is selling himself short - He's like an encyclopedia for the area.
  10. 10:00am tee off at Millcroft in Oakville today after a quick morning fish down in Lake O. I'd rather be icefishing but I guess that's a first world problem.
  11. Port Credit and Marie Curtis Park would be the closest. They may pull the docks but I don't ever remember them closing the launch.
  12. The Royal should do you just fine. Never figured out what made it royal, but lots of room for parking and a good location.
  13. I'll second Chris's advice. I'd be very surprised if he didn't save you a pile. Plus, John knows a thing or two about the local laketrout population.
  14. You can try this one - https://earthdata.nasa.gov/labs/worldview/?switch=geographic&products=baselayers,!MODIS_Aqua_CorrectedReflectance_TrueColor,MODIS_Terra_CorrectedReflectance_TrueColor~overlays,sedac_bound&time=2014-04-19&map=-82.889404,44.088867,-78.670654,46.116943 It's a little more user friendly and loads alot faster.
