Hewick is north of the 403 (and way north of Port Credit) and therefore closed. Anywhere below the 403 is open down to the lake.

You're right about that. I bet Wil showed him the spot though. lol.

Fiddleheads are way behind this year. Bumped in to a few of these though

First time I saw one in my bait bucket I chucked it in the bush for fear of unleashing a baby bowfin on a little brookie lake.

Local conservation areas (Hamilton)
Chuck Enwinde replied to lovetofish's topic in General Discussion
Problem is people seem to be rediscovering the outdoors at an alarming rate. And they all go where google tells them. I heard a few of the Halton Conservation areas were jam packed on the weekend. -
I used Crackerjack's on a trip up north and was a bit skeptical as it was a treble hook that was pretty deep. It popped out pretty easily. Seems like a handy tool.

You don't have to extend the arms if you put the camera close to the fish. The purpose of the photo is to showcase a great fish. Mission accomplished I say. Congrats to the angler.

Yup, all of those would be possible. Probably some largemouth in the slower water and rainbows have been stocked in the past.

Good CHEAP USED 4 x 4 SUVs or pick ups?

I think you're on the right track with the older V6 Rav4's - very capable vehicles. A buddy had one and it was surprisingly impressive off road. I think the "sport" edition has a towing capacity of 3500lbs. -
I don't believe in 17+ inch perch. A 20" with Simcoe proportions would be nearing 5lbs. Erie has had gobies for even longer and 2lbers are still rare. Edit: I just read the other thread and I'll take Chongers word for it because I don't believe in 8lb smallies either but I know Dave does lol.

The thing about the drill set up is that aside from the Clam plate - it's multi functional. You have a hand auger when you need it and a good drill when you need one. Trombly's had a couple of the E-drills at the ice show earlier this year- might still but you'd want to call first.

Hamilton Boat and Fishing Show impressions

My brother always hits me up for a few little roe bags before the show. His kids do alright lol. -
New record state fish, New Hampshire.

Probably right. I fished a tiny little lake that was supposed to be stocked with splake . A few locals walked by dragging 15lbs+ lakers. It blew my mind until one of them told me the hatchery gets rid of it's over sized brood stock there. They also weren't the prettiest specimens. -
There were a few but in this one Taro is taunting Jay while he misses 10 fish in a a row lol. Turns out Jimmy Seahawk is "not as peaceful as you think".
-
The cast got together for some ice fishing on the Red River. If your in to shenanigans, some of the vids are hilarious. If you can handle Taro - it's some of his best work lol.
-
You could check out Moosehorn Lodge in Chapleau. Nice cabins on a nice little lake with decent fishing. Wawa area has a bunch of lodges that I'm sure could accommodate you. I don't have experience with any of them but it's a fishy area - check out Whitefish lodge.

Been a long time since I've gotten hooked on a TV show but I really enjoyed this. I was pulling for Paul and Taro but Team Manitoba deserved the win. Aaron and Jay both fished really well and caught some awesome fish with chips on the table. The Konrad brothers are just machines. 38 hours in and they're standing on opposite gunnels of the boat like they were born there.

Cooks bay 2nd line of innisfil street parking
Chuck Enwinde replied to huzzsaba's topic in General Discussion
Parking spots have almost become like fishing spots - but not quite. PM inbound. -
SPOILER ALERT!! Pretty crazy brown that the Konrad brothers caught. The addendum at the end of the show stated that it fell 1 inch shy of the catch and release world record - which is held by Eric Haataja. These guys got some serious chops. Really enjoying the series. Hoping Taro and Paul kill it on Simcoe.
-
In for free baits! Just kidding Roy, good to see you back where you belong - hope you're back on the tiller too. Does this mean Art finally gets a break?
-
North side B. Could be all the people that just tamped it down lol. I can tell you the walk on cooks is not as nice.
-
Pretty sure he's on Prosperous L. And that crack off BBP must be about 100m wide in that pic. At least most of the snow has blown off kemp already.
-
I'm with Bunk on this one. I like Alex. Editor might have done him a favour but cutting a few of the "Oh My Gosh's" out but I think him and Eric have a good shot. I think they'll trump most of Taro and Paul's great lake stuff.

Thanks. Going to stop by in the morning. Really don't like how scarce these are becoming.
