  1. For a grad starting out it isn't a bad wage.. it's Monday to Friday for the most part and it involves meeting and networking which will lead to better opportunity in the future. And the cost of living and proximity to good fishing makes Peterborough a decent place to live
  2. What will they feed these fish? That itself will have an impact on some other species....
  3. It's not ok for anyone in this country to work for minimum wage when you are working in conditions such as theirs.... flown in for up to 4 weeks at a time with 14 hour days.... the job was to haul 200 tons of samples and load them into airplanes by hand... they had no way of getting them out in a timely manner in case of injuries, there was no isolation pay, and the camp conditions were deplorable... we don't live in a third world country here....
  4. Cliffs was the one who tried to force their native employees to work for $140 a day. That's for a 12 hour+ shift.. they walked off the job. We don't hear about this stuff on southern ont. Its an amazing fishing area and it would be a shame for them to destroy it...
  5. Lines are drawn in the sand with respect to Suzuki.. it seems that the conservative types discount anything to do with him and global warming...
  6. The worst part of it was having to work 13 hours Saturday night instead of 12.. otherwise an hour makes no real difference to me because I work nights and days in the same week. I spend half my days off feeling like a truck hit me
  7. When I hit New Liskerd it starts to feel like I'm up north.. Not many guys I work with have been past Algonquin...
  8. Wired would be the way to go. I'm planning on going with ip cameras wired with cat5 cable which provides signal and power so you don't have to run co-ax and power separate. You would need a hub and a computer to go with it. You could also access them with a smart phone....
  9. Being more of a lurker than poster doesn't help... Due to work, home projects, side jobs etc and the fact that my wife hates fishing sidelines my ability to go fishing... The fact that I'm going moose hunting in 2 weeks burns her ass as well.. Lol. I might even get some fishing in for an actual report.... Shore fishing spots in a big city?? I see both sides of it but most people who live and fish in the city know the spots so they aren't much of a secret...
  10. Driving in Montreal can be interesting to say the least.....
  11. It might only be worth $2 grand or so but I'll give you $4 !! This is definately a buyers market..but then again you will also save on the bigger boat...
  12. Anyone ever use one for tracking blood? Do they work?... I picked up a flashlight of the same brand (which is a Home Depot exclusive I believe)and it was an LED tactical with 493 lumens... The light output is unbelievable and it was on clearance for $15 batteries included.. The package says its good for 1400 feet..
  13. Can't say I know much about the fishing but if you are in a dingy(especially one of the cheaper Can tire ones) powered with an electric motor, wear a life jacket and make yourself visible.. Lots of big, fast boats running around there....
  14. I would trust a lake O fish before I'd trust a basa or Tilapia from the grocery store.....
  15. WOW, beautiful photos!!! Keep fighting the good fight!!
  16. After the first 3 shots something may have clicked in his head??.. Did adrenalin take over? Something went on in his head and I bet he won't even be able to recall it well.. You really can't judge him by his profile picture because a lot of us have pictures of us out there that might leave the impression that we are mentally unstable...
  17. The former owners of the Jelico store were real characters.....
  18. Fished the area 2 years ago.. Amazing spot..the pike tend to have thick backs to them. We ended up catching a couple of whitefish in the mix along with the pike and trout... Moose hunting in the area this fall!!
  19. By far the best lobster in the world comes from around St Pauls Island in Cape Breton. We were in Bay ST lawrence and asked at a food trailer where to get lobster. They directed us to the wharf to ask the guys unloading the boat and said to expect to pay $4 a pound. They offered us some big ones but we picked 3 prime ones in the 2 lb range. No charge when we asked how much!!! PEI lobsters grow faster and are more plentiful so you should be able to negotiate $4-5 a pound...
  20. For that price you should be getting a 3500 lb axle and larger wheels included
  21. My Acadian relatives in Nova Scotia pronounce it poo tin ....
  22. I wonder if someone had them in a live well until they started to go belly up? Then threw them back with the hope that they would recover...
  23. Emily is a nice park... You might even be able to rent a canoe to get deep into the weeds for bass...
  24. Heading that way Friday but we have no room for a big cooler to bring any home live...we do however have room for a butane stove and a pot so we can cook some up on the beach ...
