For everyday use, you will save money. For towing I don't think it will make much of a difference. I used to have a Chevy Avalanche....bigtime gas guzzler. To tow the boat to St Clair and back would cost me $120. If I just drove the truck to St Clair and back without towing it would cost me basically the same. The truck did not know the boat was even there. When I got rid of the Avalanche we got a Caravan. Awesome I thought! And it is WAAAAYYY better fuel economy if I am just driving and not towing anything. I could drive to St. Clair and back and it might go through $50 in fuel. Less than half the price of the Avalanche...BUT...put the boat behind there and just watch that Caravan suck up the gas....I swear I can see the needle literally moving. Cost to tow with the Caravan to St. Clair and back? Basically the same as towing with the truck...over $100 for sure. Long story short, towing with the truck had minimal impact on fuel economy, towing with the van cut the fuel economy in half. Sorry to burst your bubble. You will see improved day to day costs, but put the boat back there and you will still be opening your wallet big time.
I have stayed there a couple of times. John is a super nice guy. The cottages are a bit run down....but you get what you pay for. They are how shall we say...rustic. Since we are low maintenance people, we have always enjoyed our stays there. If you are going with people who are a bit more fussy and you are renting one of the cottages you should pay more and go somewhere else. The grounds are really nice and kid friendly, good swimming area too. We have been there in July. The floating weeds in that area make trolling pretty much impossible.
opposite at my house. I don't buy too much, the wife is constantly buying shoes, jewellery, clothes etc...and trust me, I regularly point it out. The difference is, when I do get something, odds are its gonna be BIG
...that story cured my desire to go south for some musky fishing. Glad to hear I am not alone sometimes driving a long way and then not doing too well! We always have fun anyways, but the odd fish certainly helps
I used to go to McRae 25 years ago and it was just starting to get busy then....can't imagine the zoo now. If someone has a good spot I would imagine they would keep it pretty close to the vest! How about something in Massassauga Park?
oh man I remember as a kid fishing for those things in the intracoastal. Once you found the school it would be literally nonstop til your yellow bucktail jig was destroyed or you got tired of catching them.
what a wuss...all tough out on the water, really expressed his true opinion. Now the heat is on? Starts to lie. Be true to who you are. You think muskies are a piece of cr@p fish? Now you have a forum with an audience to try and convince us they should be eliminated. Instead, because he might get a fine or other punishment he abandons his true beliefs and turtles like a little schoolgirl.
I get it free once in a while for a month...only ever watch Musky Hunter, the rest doesn't interest me. Tried a couple shows and like others have said they are basically an infomercial trying to sell me stuff. Bill Dance is the worst from what I can recall. Him dragging fish back and forth pretending they are fighting, the shameless plugs of products, the staged bloopers...yipes, getting physically ill again just thinking about it. When I watch Bill Dance what goes through my head is "Does he really think I'm that stupid?"
same with musky fishing for me. I get one in the first couple minutes....usually means the rest of the day will suck....so you try to convince yourself you are happy you got one!
