  1. Hope to have something to tell you when I get back. Probably fish 9-5 or so.
  2. spend spend spend don't worry about how to pay it back. Sound like a lot of Canadians' philosophy these days? No wonder Justin won!
  3. well that was annoying...even at lowest volume
  4. Some of those floating set ups only float for 20 seconds or so. ..found that the hard way
  5. well good luck whatever you fish for! keep us updated. I hope to get out there as well towards the end of this week.
  6. Great Caesar's ghost what a fish! Nicely done. Probably tasted like an old boot though.
  7. I would disagree with that (the career suicide part). When I was on a one year contract I also was given an offer elsewhere. I asked the boss to have a chat, told him quite openly what I had been offered and that because of the full time nature at that other job I was going to have to take it. My boss didn't want to lose me, offered me full time right on the spot with better pay and benefits. If you are a valuable employee they will want to keep you. Mind you, I busted my butt at that job...there was no spending time on OFC while I was at work! Every available second I was working, skipping lunches, staying late, arriving early etc. If you want to stay at your current company, give them a chance to at least try and keep you. If you don't even want to be there just take the other job. Personally, I did not want to blindside my employer and just take the other job. I was honest with them, they were honest with me. I ended up staying there 10 more years and only left because I was offered a General Manager position elsewhere
  8. thanks for the update. Mouth of the Thames is truly a gong show. I refuse to participate in the carousel of fools (even though I have heard of ridiculous quantities of fish being caught some days). To me, catching is only a part of the entire experience, a little tranquility is nice too. Only severe winds and the inability to fish elsewhere could convince me to fish the merry-go-round again.
  9. ditto...cleaned the gutters, raked some leaves..thought about fishing
  10. What a gorgeous day out there, let us know how you did once you get home!
  11. I thought RC meant Roman Catholic...and no, I am not
  12. cringe....and that's why I troll when I have newbie's on board. Back in my pike days one of my yahoo buddies beened my off the forehead with a 5 o diamonds. That was bad enough
  13. go get em! I went last week or I would jump all over this. $50 to go fish L St. Clair can't be beat.
  14. oh ya...I have hooked into a couple mighty sheepheads. Give a good account of themselves. I love it when musky fishing and a rod goes off and some poor chump loses his turn bringing in a grunting sheephead....good times
  15. even though I never tried it while I lived there, I imagine the whole Barrie shoreline could produce smallmouth. Lots of rocky breakwalls.
  16. She's a beaut! Congrats on being rewarded for toughing it out
  17. watched a canoe come flying off a car once...and then splinter into many pieces
  18. Personally I was hoping he was going to troll with it
  19. think he ever unhooked the poor beast?
  20. dang...knew I shoulda gone to Thames! Nice fish.
  21. Just wanted to give a bit of an update. We got on the water around 8:45 am, cast for 10 minutes or so at the mouth of the marina (Belle River) then set up to do some trolling. We ended up getting 4 before noon (3 were just under 40, and one was 44) but at noon conditions changed. Sun came out, the water laid down and the fish shut off. We stayed til 3, only having one more rip for our efforts but that fish didn't hook up. Was good to get out there though!
  22. Thanks Bob. We will give it a shot and see what happens. Start right from the launch and head further out if nobody is in tight yet!
  23. Haven't got out fishing much this year, and haven't been to St Clair since early July (hurts just to type that). Fortunately, I am heading out to St Clair tomorrow. Was wondering if anyone knew if the shad were congregating at the river mouths yet or are temps too warm still. Will affect what kind of gear I bring tomorrow (ie trolling vs casting). PM's always welcomed too!
  24. Wow one heck of a jackfish. Beauty
  25. Good call Lew. I bet if you drove that item to the address they requested there would be some teenage boys in the house across the street pissing their pants.
