  1. Good times!
  2. Wow 21 in a week! Good for you!
  3. beer. lots and lots of beer. Keep an eye on the 3 year old though, drinking beer through a sippy cup is like drinking beer through a straw...hits you harder.
  4. uh oh here we go again
  5. 4 hours away? No way
  6. newbies are my good luck charm. Over the past 2 years I have gotten at least 10 guys their first musky. I don't think I have ever been skunked with a musky virgin on board...now go with my regular fishing buddy? Oh ya, we may get skunked. If you strike out, let me know when you get back. Depending on where you live I may be able to get out with you. After all, you may be my ticket to success!
  7. pretty sure the Head L I am talking about wouldn't have a 45 incher in it never mind 45 pounds
  8. don't tempt me...we loved it there but had other reasons to move. Some day when the kids are grown up and gone I would absolutely come back
  9. Haha...oh you will be welcome to come up for a bit of
  10. they are nearly in your back pocket
  11. Bingo...when I lived in Barrie we would either go to Head Lake if we had a newbie on board and just wanted to get any musky, but if I had a fisherman on board we would go to balsam!
  12. Yes I quite enjoy fishing by myself...every fish is yours, and you don't feel pressure if you have a rookie along and the fish aren't biting. However, there are advantages to having a buddy - safety, extra line in the water, camera/net man and if you have a distance to drive, helps cover the costs. So for me, I am happy either way, as long as I am fishing!
  13. oh my goodness what is this world coming to. We are worried about stressing out bears? Thank goodness millions of dollars are being spent to study this
  14. We are debating buying a cottage on either Head Lake or Rush Lake. I was just wondering if anyone has ever fished Rush Lake before, and if so, how was it. Feel free to pm me. I have fished Head Lake a number of times so know the pros (good numbers of small muskies) and the cons (new lower unit anyone?). I personally have never caught a musky bigger than 42 inches and scrawny like a hockey stick in Head Lake, but feel its a good lake for the family. If anyone has advice or any thoughts (ie you have caught a decent musky in Head lake) please feel free to share.
  15. yes, I have caught a blue-tinged pike before too
  16. ....but more importantly...did you catch any muskies? Getting yelled at sure gets forgotten quickly if the youngster boated a brute (my apologies if you mentioned this already)
  17. Beauty! I have the opposite happen to me...incidental walleye when musky fishing
  18. probly carp....deep water carp
  19. Have debated the same thing and decided against the kicker. I get out maybe 10 times a year, and troll about 6 hours each time out. Thats only 60 hours a year, pretty sure the Yamaha (90 hp)can handle that. Speed not a factor as I am fishing for musky. When I looked at the costs to get a kicker, get it installed etc etc it just wasn't worth it. I
  20. We were at Pigeon a few weeks ago...I catch a musky a few hundred meters from the beach. Quickly place it in the livewell and bomb back to show the kids who are currently swimming. Naturally dad lets it go just outside the swimming area. THAT was hilarious, like a scene from Jaws with kids scrambling out of the water.
  21. Wish you were going to Carolina's! We are heading there in a couple of weeks and based on the number of shark attacks lately there are plenty around!
  22. remember him well. Such great characters back then
  23. good for you! As a kid in Toronto I remember heading down there. don't think I ever got bass tho...just panfish and the odd giant carp
  24. Used to fish there a lot. I found the musky fishing had slowed considerably about 6 or 7 years ago, haven't been back since. Perhaps the population/pressure has improved!
