  1. somebody gave them a shortshaft outboard rather than long and they found a way to use it
  2. We found out what campground they were staying in, but i was more concerned to get her in the boat and to a hospital. By the time the cops went to their campsite they were long gone. My sister-in-law regained conciousness and was fine (other than usual concussion symptoms - headache, vomiting etc) so it was not pursued any further. Thankfully no long term effects for her, but without a doubt the scariest moment of our lives.
  3. she's a beaut! I hope she dines on a lot of pike out there.
  4. Don't get me started...a moron on a jet ski nearly killed my sister in law. We were towing her on a tube and a jetskier smacked right into her, knocked her out cold in the water
  5. 2013 16'8" Alumacraft Competitor with 90hp 4 stroke Yamaha - tops out at 42 mph
  6. Give Simcoe a couple more years Brian! Great video. The river is never calm like that when I am there. That actually looked quite pleasant.
  7. GBay is for the REALLY dedicated musky fisherman in my opinion. The guy who has caught maybe 500+ muskies already and is seeking a true giant or the next possible world record, rather than just another 42 incher. Since I am still well below 500, I still really enjoy a 42 incher! Crap even a 38 gets me somewhat interested. I hope someday I have more time to fish and caught enough decent fish to change gears and to really seek out that giant. In the meantime though, I want to catch fish so that means the Kawarthas or St. Clair for me.
  8. Another for Bay City Marine. I bought off them 2 years ago (16'8" alumacraft with a 90 hp yamaha)....probably exactly what you are looking for! They don't carry alumacraft anymore I don't think, but they had some Lunds in the same size for pretty much the same price (low 20's). Clarence was great to deal with, no hesitation to recommend them
  9. rig the next one to explode...just don't forget that you've rigged it
  10. Good times!
  11. Wow 21 in a week! Good for you!
  12. beer. lots and lots of beer. Keep an eye on the 3 year old though, drinking beer through a sippy cup is like drinking beer through a straw...hits you harder.
  13. uh oh here we go again
  14. 4 hours away? No way
  15. newbies are my good luck charm. Over the past 2 years I have gotten at least 10 guys their first musky. I don't think I have ever been skunked with a musky virgin on board...now go with my regular fishing buddy? Oh ya, we may get skunked. If you strike out, let me know when you get back. Depending on where you live I may be able to get out with you. After all, you may be my ticket to success!
  16. pretty sure the Head L I am talking about wouldn't have a 45 incher in it never mind 45 pounds
  17. don't tempt me...we loved it there but had other reasons to move. Some day when the kids are grown up and gone I would absolutely come back
  18. Haha...oh you will be welcome to come up for a bit of
  19. they are nearly in your back pocket
  20. Bingo...when I lived in Barrie we would either go to Head Lake if we had a newbie on board and just wanted to get any musky, but if I had a fisherman on board we would go to balsam!
  21. Yes I quite enjoy fishing by myself...every fish is yours, and you don't feel pressure if you have a rookie along and the fish aren't biting. However, there are advantages to having a buddy - safety, extra line in the water, camera/net man and if you have a distance to drive, helps cover the costs. So for me, I am happy either way, as long as I am fishing!
  22. oh my goodness what is this world coming to. We are worried about stressing out bears? Thank goodness millions of dollars are being spent to study this
  23. We are debating buying a cottage on either Head Lake or Rush Lake. I was just wondering if anyone has ever fished Rush Lake before, and if so, how was it. Feel free to pm me. I have fished Head Lake a number of times so know the pros (good numbers of small muskies) and the cons (new lower unit anyone?). I personally have never caught a musky bigger than 42 inches and scrawny like a hockey stick in Head Lake, but feel its a good lake for the family. If anyone has advice or any thoughts (ie you have caught a decent musky in Head lake) please feel free to share.
  24. yes, I have caught a blue-tinged pike before too
