What 'signals' the true beginning of spring?
Rizzo replied to Beavertail's topic in General Discussion
my cat gets outside for the first time in months and brings back a freshly-killed bird within 2 minutes...new record -
opposite at my house. I don't buy too much, the wife is constantly buying shoes, jewellery, clothes etc...and trust me, I regularly point it out. The difference is, when I do get something, odds are its gonna be BIG

...that story cured my desire to go south for some musky fishing. Glad to hear I am not alone sometimes driving a long way and then not doing too well! We always have fun anyways, but the odd fish certainly helps
-
i use em for perch fishing for the kids...but only the lines in the hut otherwise they freeze and don't slide.
-
I used to go to McRae 25 years ago and it was just starting to get busy then....can't imagine the zoo now. If someone has a good spot I would imagine they would keep it pretty close to the vest! How about something in Massassauga Park?

Rob don't let princie know you are dreaming of other boats...they tend not to like that
-
wow...gigantors!
-
oh man I remember as a kid fishing for those things in the intracoastal. Once you found the school it would be literally nonstop til your yellow bucktail jig was destroyed or you got tired of catching them.

My wife fished with me until we got married...the fishing then abruptly ended

Charges laid in Detroit River muskie incident
Rizzo replied to John Bacon's topic in General Discussion
what a wuss...all tough out on the water, really expressed his true opinion. Now the heat is on? Starts to lie. Be true to who you are. You think muskies are a piece of cr@p fish? Now you have a forum with an audience to try and convince us they should be eliminated. Instead, because he might get a fine or other punishment he abandons his true beliefs and turtles like a little schoolgirl. -
Good way to end the season I'd say...tempting fate by trying to get out again!
-
I get it free once in a while for a month...only ever watch Musky Hunter, the rest doesn't interest me. Tried a couple shows and like others have said they are basically an infomercial trying to sell me stuff. Bill Dance is the worst from what I can recall. Him dragging fish back and forth pretending they are fighting, the shameless plugs of products, the staged bloopers...yipes, getting physically ill again just thinking about it. When I watch Bill Dance what goes through my head is "Does he really think I'm that stupid?"

Whats the fish you have always wanted catch?
Rizzo replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
big ol 55 inch musky would be nice -
not sure how big 500 acres is....but I think a Kawartha lake would have 2000 Walleye taken out every week!

First drift of the morning and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

same with musky fishing for me. I get one in the first couple minutes....usually means the rest of the day will suck....so you try to convince yourself you are happy you got one! -

zoinks what a brute -
Well I called him and he wouldn't budge on price, but figured what the heck its basically a new machine (even if it is 4 years old) I would buy it anyways. See a flyer before heading out and see I could get a new Cub Cadet for only $200 more - taxes in (with power steering, a light, bigger tires and of course a warranty!). Either way, $200 is $200 so I still head out for the 2010 (2009?) Ariens...hoping for some kind of sign. Miss my exit and get lost getting there. Sign enough? I'm not convinced. Then when looking at machine I notice one of the sheer pins is busted (now its daylight and I can see better). Buddy says no big deal and wants to put a regular bolt in there...I explain what a sheer pin does. This guy didn't have a clue. Now it makes sense why he told me he's getting rid of it the first time we talked on phone - because it takes 2 hours to do his driveway. I was kinda shocked when I saw his driveway the first visit...wasn't that big. He was prepared to sell me a really poor working machine (even though it was just a sheer pin). That was sign enough....apologized for wasting his time and gonna grab the new Cub Cadet Monday. Thanks everyone for your input

Compact 24 205 cc is all I know
-
...and thank you for the offer to check it over but time isn't going to permit that!

Hi Cliff, we did start it and checked the oil. It ran well and oil was clean. Started first pull. He figures 5 hours on the machine and I do believe it. I was just wondering if the fact that it was a "newish 2010" made it significantly less valuable than a "newish 2013" The fact it had no light is what tipped me off it was not a 2013. I had watched videos of 2013's on youtube before going to look at it. 2011 was the first year with a light, that's how I figure its a 2010 or 2009 (had an emissions label from 2009 on it so I know its no older than that)
-
We agreed on the price before I had seen it. Told me it was new last year and still in new condition (which it is). He was asking 850 I said 800 and then came out to see it. That's when I noticed it was not "as advertised".

you been eating with my mother-in-law again, eh Rob?

Where you going ice fishing this year?
Rizzo replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
probably nowhere...and I will remind my wife repeatedly of that...so when its musky season again she won't have a problem with me getting out a few extra times! -
I agree 100% Steve. Was looking for some feedback here and then was going to call him IF I was going to bring up the price again. Would not do that to the guy tomorrow. These things go for $1200 new. We had agreed upon $800 which I thought was fair for a slightly used 2013. Just wonder if anyone has a thought if that is overpaying for a slightly used 2009/10

man that is rough. I did the same thing last year around this time. It involved breaking ice at the marina and avoiding ice flows out in the lake. Brutal brutal day. we drove 6 hours round trip and probably only fished 3! Caught zip and not even a rip. This year I saved myself the aggravation and put the boat to bed last week!
