limeyangler Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Hi all, Cant believe that this is only my second time out ice fishing this year apart from a few brief half hearted attempts at the ice shack. Weather felt like summer….a balmy -20C, but no wind. Got chillier later when a 10kmh wind whipped up from the SWest. 35' to 40' FOW. 1.5" white/pearl YUM LPT tubes on 1/8th Oz jigs. Fish were finicky but every now and then an unstoppable freight train would smash the mini tube. When you saw it coming you had to hold the bait still or it would pull out of the attack and head back to the bottom, they did not want to chase at all today. No trout today, but we'll be back for sure. I ended up with 8 on the ice, about the same got off. Just what the doctor ordered after such a long time off the ice. (best when HD is selected)
irishfield Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Be lots of fat / blood line trimming on those buggers! Great stuff Simon!

mccwell Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 Nice fish, I was fishing this past week and the fish were acting the same way, any movement and they were gone. My Vexilar was solid red about 2’ off the bottom and active all day. That sure makes up for those slow days. Nice post, look forward to more.
Joeytier Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 Hard to miss the lakers when you're layin' intonthe pig whiteys!
