206 Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 I think even if he dies the shute will open...He almost choked to death on a test jump from lower altitude this is nuts, but technology is wonderful!
danbouck Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Video says he is at 128000' but mission control says 113000' ???
Jigger Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 (edited) Big stones! Cant imagine the thoughts as he stepped out and then off. That is one crazy guy!!! Edited October 14, 2012 by Jigger
Christopheraaron Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Just finished watching for 2 hrs! Awesome! Guy's got guts!
Roy Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Watched the whole thing. History being made. Now tell me that you had dry eyes as you witnessed his safe landing and watched his family and friends as they watched him land. Just great. Thanks for putting me onto it Dave.
woodenboater Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Man, dropping into a half pipe was crazy enough for me back in the day. But to step off into nothing from 120XXX feet is totally off the charts. Hopefully this can lead to technology that can help astronauts who encounter severely adverse situations. It was great to watch his mom's reaction and her immense relief when he came out of the spin and deployed the chute.
Muskieman Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 First ever televised suicide attempt , glad he didn't succeed , that was pretty cool ... Excellent protocol and safety measures , a whole lot better than the Wellenda/Niagara crossing .... Contrats to Felix Baumgartner !
mercman Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Most amazing thing i have seen since man allegedly set foot on the moon. Awesome courage, and emotional landing
Handlebarz Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 I watched it on my iPhone with my son it was cool sitting on the couch sharing the time. Best part was when Mikey said what would happen if he lands on a cactus all I could do was laugh more then a lol. I was very worried when he was spinning then silence and the shot of mission control it did not seem good for that short period.
davey buoy Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 That could sure open a can of worms Paul !!!!!.
ch312 Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Video says he is at 128000' but mission control says 113000' ??? i think they meant the cabins pressure was equivalent to X number of feet while he was at 128k and equalizing the pressure. of course, i could be totally wrong
Rich Clemens Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 i think they meant the cabins pressure was equivalent to X number of feet while he was at 128k and equalizing the pressure. of course, i could be totally wrong I think you got it.
