fishindevil Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Well hit the kawarthas last weekend,to try and hit a few smallies using my new shimano crucial 7ft dropshot rod !!! and well we hit probly about 12 or so,and when we decided to switch over to do a few trolls over a promising deep hole beside a weedbed, well i hit this nice musky while trolling a bouncer, with one of my homeade worm harnesses, and well the fight was on !!! i noticed early on that he was hooked pretty good, right through the top of the mouth, and was suprised he didnt break me off after doing a few 30yrd dashes,as im only using 8lb. 100% berkley flourocarbon!!! but he made it to the net,was measured, and a few pics taken, and back to the lake in a short minute, she was 43"inches !!!!...so here she is along with a few smallies that we caught !!! and man is that new crucial dropshot rod awesome !!!...oh ya and she is an entry for team #12 catch 22 ....cheers

jwl Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 nice going on the fish, they get real scrappy when they start to get into the 40's,looks like you had some ideal weather too..can't ask for much more than that
Pigeontroller Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 BOO to the vertical hold Sean!
GbayGiant Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Nice fish Shawn, your getting lot's of big ones this year gotta love those big surprises. I already got us a 46" for Catch 22 put up a couple weeks ago and added a 19" smallie yesterday, we got a good average but really need a catfish and carp and non great lakes trout if anyone can go for them. If you go to the bottom of the page and click on Tourney Entries all our pics are in there, been updating whenever possible. My first musky ever was walleye fishing with a worm harness as well. I think if we made a monster worm harness with a #10 Colorado blade, size 7 hooks tipped with a big Gardner snake it could be deadly all year, lol.
bassboy Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Awesome fish Shawn.......all of them! I cant believe you got the musky on a worm harness!!! WTG! Bill
sharper Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Great catch! I still haven't manage to catch my musky this year yet.
snag Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 (edited) Congrats, That's a beauty. The vertical will cause some grief (pssst hold the sign in yer teeth!!). 8lb. line!!! Amazing. Edited September 9, 2008 by SNAG

b2kptbo Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Have had Muskie take my worm harness and what a ride. Thats a nice one you got, couple good bass as well, WTG...

Bly Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 8LB line and a worm harness.....that must have gotten your heart pumping! Congratulations Shawn. Great way to show how well your harnesses work!
Reef Runner Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Great catch, and on 8lb mono to boot. My first musky was also caught walleye fishing. Hope you got a flak jacket for the vert hold, these musky guyz are gonna be foaming at the mouth. I figure you for a great angler, I'm sure she swam off nicely.
1leggedangler Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Awesome job!! Thanks for the report and pics. Cheers, 1leg

Pigeontroller Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 No foaming mouth here! But someone had to say it!
Guest Johnny Bass Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Nice Musky and some decent smallies!!! More muskies are caught on pickerel and bass gear than musky gear!
