  1. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 I hope that soon you and your family can find comfort knowing Jen is in a place of peace. That kind of strength and love must be rewarded. Prayers to your family.
  2. The smallies on the Upper Niagara feed like kings and because they live their lives in current, they're amazing strong. I've had 3lb fish that I was sure were huge.
  3. I have a cover on mine 100% of the time when trailering.
  4. Me too. Sorry guys...The door opened a crack and I jumped through it! I get passionate about Canada, kids and safety.
  5. What surprised me was seeing 28-30 lbs. EMPTY. Geesh, pack them full of ice, beer and fish ( in that order) and they'd be a ball buster to lift.
  6. Gee I hope so. My aunt could get points playing with Sid. We'll wait though and give Kessel the credit. LOL
  7. Off track for sure but...I like the rest of you have all had things broken into and stolen. But if I measure that against the severity of the gun crimes in the US AND now Canada, I can honestly say I don't care. I'd donate the entire contents of all the thief's against me 10X if it would save the life of one innocent person from one of the THOUSANDS of murders and accidental deaths every year. I own guns and commit no crimes but am glad that neither of you or anyone else is allowed to carry. FishNAutographs, frankly speaking based on your profession I'm shocked that you would say that. You do realize that everyone else would get a gun too right? And that you can't be with all your loved ones 100% of the time to protect them? And that you would always be the fastest gun in the west? Maybe if you served in Detroit, Chicago or New Orleans, you wouldn't be so quick to hand out guns. Chicago Times 2014: "Chicago Police reported 390 murders through Dec. 20, while the Cook County medical examiner’s office reported 410 homicides, including 16 fatal police shootings, during the same period. There have been at least 10 additional homicides and one fatal police shooting since then." Those 410 murder victims all had the right to bear arms. A lot of good it did them. And it doesn't appear that anyone is "thinking twice" about breaking and entering...instead, they armed up to the situation. People can pretend all they want that they're big and tough because they have guns; truth is, the criminals feel the exact same way so if it's a shoot out you want, you can have it. Ridiculous. The idea of modelling our laws to mirror the US and then expect to not suffer with the same level of crime which is rampant in US cities is nothing short of asinine. Here's how US cities as compared to entire countries on gun murders If it were a country, New Orleans (with a rate 62.1 gun murders per 100,000 people) would rank second in the world. Detroit's gun homicide rate (35.9) is just a bit less than El Salvador (39.9). Baltimore's rate (29.7) is not too far off that of Guatemala (34.8). Gun murder in Newark (25.4) and Miami (23.7) is comparable to Colombia (27.1). Washington D.C. (19) has a higher rate of gun homicide than Brazil (18.1). Atlanta's rate (17.2) is about the same as South Africa (17). Cleveland (17.4) has a higher rate than the Dominican Republic (16.3). Gun murder in Buffalo (16.5) is similar to Panama (16.2). Houston's rate (12.9) is slightly higher than Ecuador's (12.7). Gun homicide in Chicago (11.6) is similar to Guyana (11.5). Phoenix's rate (10.6) is slightly higher than Mexico (10). Los Angeles (9.2) is comparable to the Philippines (8.9). Boston rate (6.2) is higher than Nicaragua (5.9). New York, where gun murders have declined to just four per 100,000, is still higher than Argentina (3). Even the cities with the lowest homicide rates by American standards, like San Jose and Austin, compare to Albania and Cambodia respectively. Be careful what you wish for people.
  8. Easy to get angry at theft. You stew about it for weeks later fantasizing about showing up at just the right moment. Probably better it doesn't happen that way though. I feel bad for you Chris.
  9. You could always buy a Kawartha Lakes bassboat.
  10. You guys are both correct. Pete, nice of you to give her the heads up. She may not have realized she was not visible in the sinking sun. Besides, if she gets hammered by a boat, being in the right wont help much. When I used to ride motorcycles we used to say don't worry about being right, worry about staying alive.
  11. You take him up on his offer to help. It'll save you a ton of mistakes and money.
  12. I did a lot of taxidermy many years ago. I even competed in the States but I stuck to mammals as my speciality. That's what you'll find quite often, some guys are great at birds, and others fish. They are completely different in approach and require a huge element of natural art. As far as fish go, it's all in the paint. A mediocre mount looks fantastic from 6 feet away if the paint is good. But bad paint is always a bad looking fish. The good news is, you can use your first mount as a practice fish. Paint that thing 10 times if you want. When you get good at colours, technique and blending, more on to other fish. The tough thing about fish as well is, there're all different! You can get super good at rainbow trout and then paint a bass that is not the right shade of green, etc. it's a good hobby for fun if you have the time and aren't working on someone's trophy. Good start.
  13. Being a bit heavier may help with a smoother ride.
  14. His opinion hardly justified a personal attack.
  15. You just solved that pesky dinosaur mystery.
  16. Bringing in more experience up front sure can't hurt. Lemaire missed the playoffs 7 times in 17 years and 4 of them were with the newly formed Wild starting in 2000. That's a good run.
  17. I like the 2hp stir stick!
  18. I'm sure if the OP thought for a second it was left on purpose he'd have left it. I was thinking the same thing as Mike B., I would never get that far away from a marker I dropped. Regardless, the meatheads in the other boat didn't have enough brain cells between the three of them to recognize an honest mistake and the fact there was a kid present. Live and learn. Forget about it, we're knee deep in morons these days.
  19. This weeks vacation is over and I spent it renovating our bathroom. Feels good to get it almost finished but boy do I need to go fishing.

    1. misfish

      misfish

A week? You should of called super drifter.LOL

  20. I like the colours on that fish, good job!!
  21. Nice going Pete! If I spent a week at LOTW and came home to go salmon fishing, well, let's just say I'd be bunking in the garden shed.
  22. Great work guys! Given the conditions, you guys did amazing. Thanks for posting the pics.
  23. I'm glad they're stricter with regards to boating safety. If something goes wrong, it's not like you can pull over to the shoulder and wait for help...or get out and walk home. Netminder, thanks for the reminder and being big enough to put yourself out there.
  24. Sounds great. I'll be fishing it for sure.
  25. Looks like a great event Jay. Why the Chippawa launch? That's 26 km run just to the mouth of the river.
