  1. It is certainly strange that a shared body of water (Canada/US) that in some places is a few hundred yards wide has vastly different seasons. Different by almost 7 months. There are two rules of thumb on the Canadian side: 1) any bass fishing before the 3rd Saturday in June will ruin the population, and 2) if you want a better shot at placing in an Erie bass tourney, get your butt to the US side. That's irony.
  2. By coincidence, yesterday I was mowing the lawn and the mower engine surged a couple times. It's a John Deere tractor and I thought I'd better check the oil...ya never know. I pulled the dipstick and it looked good. While pondering my next move, my cell phone rang and after a two minute chat, I was back to the tractor. I'll start it up and see if it does it at idle, I decide. Turn the key and it fired up like a champ. One second later I'm being sprayed in the face with warm brown oil and there's a cloud of brown fog so think you can taste it. I managed to get my hand on the key and get it shut down but not before I create a 6 foot circle of sticky slick goo. Yeah, don't run it with the oil dipstick on the work bench. Bright side? After I wipe the tractor down it looked like new! It ran fine right after btw. Of course it did.
  3. I just tried the promo code again and seemed to work. Hit the redeem button.
  4. I thought July 1st was Flare Disposal Day!!??
  5. Thanks for posting that...they're not always easy to find and usually $20+ for one!! My orders in too.
  6. Great story. Good for those guys...I can imagine how happy they were!!
  7. I think it's a ROCK bass!! Very cool find thanks for posting.
  8. The small vessel emergency kits are on sale at TSC. $9.99. You can complain about having to show it to the police later. Lol
  9. If only we could get the police and CO's to check where we want, when we want, and only check the bad guys and leave us alone. Silly police...Don't they know any minute we could catch the next world record??
  10. I've had no issues with the marine units. In fact, it's kind of funny...I've been on the Upper Niagara in more than one occasion when there has been a group of boats fishing in say a one kilometer area and watched the police zig-zag through the crowd checking ONLY pleasure craft style boats. Last time it happened I was with my son and I said they won't stop us...sure enough, we got the wave as they passed. There were 6 boats, three were bassboats and 3 got checked. The couple times I have been stopped was on the US side of the river. They are very polite and the last time checked they offered up fishing spots.
  11. Go with the advice you trust. It's your dough and you gotta be happy! Keep looking, you'll find your boat.
  12. I'd have to confirm it but I can't see the dry weight of a 1994 2.5L being that much lighter than a newer 3.0L. I'd be going from 200hp to 200hp and the newer motors are lighter. Plus, it's a Ranger, it can take it! Lol
  13. Good to know Hirk. Ive had it in the back of my mind that it was only a matter of time before it detonates. Still could happen, but it really does run great. I just put a Croxton Laser 3 24P prop on it and can't wait to try it out. Coming from a Trophy 23P 4 blade. I had know idea the 150's would rev that high! I'm pretty sure my 200 revs to about 5750??
  14. 200hp EFI 2.5I'd love to upgrade it to a newer 3 litre but it just keeps on going. Probably a good thing considering the cost of the replacement motor.
  15. Well now you have a decision to make!! Good luck to you. I have a Mariner as well btw, the V6.
  16. Not sure what your point is? If it's got a 115...I'm suggesting he listen to the someone that has seen more than one motor. Just my opinion but that's what I'd do.
  17. I don't think knowing a guy with one motor is much of a trend. If I was buying, I'd listen to the manager that dealt with a multitude of motors. If it's the boat I think it is, it's got the 135hp V6 anyway.
  18. Great boat if you get it at a reasonable price. I believe I saw the boat you're looking at on kijiji. Mariner 135hp.
  19. I wish they would give out 240 prizes of $250,000 each. That would change a lot of lives.
  20. Nice catch of walleye!!
  21. I agree. Diffused light and water movement = active fish.
  22. I honestly own my dream boat. More money would just get me a newer one. I waited 20 years for my Ranger and it was worth it. I still look in the rear view mirror when driving to the lake and smile.
  23. Yeah, an eyebolt basically. I "think" it's a 1 1/2"-16 NF but I'm not 100% sure. Im really good at buying stuff I'm sure is right!! Lol
  24. I'm looking to install a jackplate on my boat and have almost everything I need. What I don't have is a Mercury lifting ring that screws in at the flywheel to make the lift safe and easy. I'd take the boat to a mechanic but once I get the motor off I may have to do some extras like cables, etc. I've seen them online (stateside) but I'd rather not spend $50++ US for what will probably be a one hour job. I've got a 200hp EFI. Anyone have have one I could borrow/rent? Hamilton area. Thanks!
