  1. Generator, water filter, machete, malaria pills...
  2. In a way(ok, a small way) I feel bad for Kessel because he's in a no win situation. If he goes out and has a 40 goal season, the crowd will be all over him for the reasons quoted above. If he lights it up along side Crosby, it'll be Crosby who gets the credit, which to a certain extent is true. Hell, I could score a goal if Crosby banked it off my a$$. Kessel's super talented, he just needs to play on a line that can carry his weaknesses.
  3. I'm quickly becoming an old stocky Canadian.
  4. I also have an older Ranger. Mine is a '94 with the VS hull that has the built-in 15" setback. It's one hand on the wheel and rock solid at 63 mph.
  5. That musky didn't see the Ralala coming. It's still trying to figure out how a 3" minnow kicked its butt.
  6. This is great info guys. Very much appreciated! Finding a boat will be the tricky part now. He'll buy in the fall with no issues so that's good.
  7. At the risk of starting a peeing contest...I've got a question. Are the new Legend boats any good? My boss is looking to buy a boat. He wants aluminum, 18'-20' feet, 150hp range, occasional fisherman, two young boys so some waterskiing.. That's the basic criteria. Surprisingly, a used boat is tough to find. I found a couple 20 XCalibre Legends in the $25K - $30K range but I'm not sure of their quality, resale value, etc. If he wanted a Ranger I'd be more help! LOL Personally, I'd play it safe and find a Lund or Crestliner but that's because I know little about the newer aluminum boats. Opinions? Thanks Dave
  8. Your logic would make the solution for poaching simple too. Not popular though. The discussion is not stupid, just some of the content. Best wishes for your father Moxie.
  9. I saw this on Facebook yesterday and it's sickening. Imagine how the guys feel who put all that time and money into the other tournaments they "won"?
  10. For years I had a 14' aluminum with a 35hp Merc tiller. That little bugger flew. Didn't seem to matter how many people you had in the boat either! Lol I have to admit I love the stability of the Ranger at top end. I think the tinny felt faster though.
  11. Let's plan an OFC weekend up there...we could choke that area off with so many boats they'll be portaging seadoos to get past your place.
  12. Ranger 487VS with a 200 EFI Mariner Magnum. 23P 4 blade Trophy Plus prop. 64 MPH with two people. I could go up to a 25P 3 blade to win some top end but I like the bite of the 4 blade on Erie.
  13. One big fish can be luck but consistency is more science than a crap shoot. The fisherman on this forum that consistently catch musky don't do it because they're lucky.
  14. Musky was mentioned a few times. I'll be giving them a shot this fall as well though Lake Erie bass fishing is hard to pass up. I usually winterized my boat the first week of December!
  15. Don't go with straight braid for drop shotting. It's a finesse presentation and unless the water had visibility of less than a few inches, I wouldn't consider braid...probably not even then. Stick to fluoro, make sure it's fresh, and make sure it's not your knots that are the issue.
  16. Great video thanks for sharing it
  17. That's cool. Nice to see. Now only if the ring necks would come back.
  18. When looking for quality over quantity, don't hesitate to upsize your baits and slow them down. Trade the jitterbug for a spook, throw a black spinnerbait with a #7 blade, or a jig and worm combo with a 8" black worm.
  19. Meh...I hate reality TV...they just taped a Senators practice.
  20. You and Wayne are in a category that nobody should ever experience. Your ability to endure and succeed in spite of it makes you both stronger men than me. You will be rewarded. I'm with Gerritt, if things get ugly, shoot me a message. Dave
  21. Post your mileage for the Dodge guys
  22. Putting livewells in the back isn't stupid. When they're up front, the fish get absolutely pounded and the survival rate drops. Remember, it's a bass boat, those livewells are for keeping fish alive. Not the pass me a minnow crowd.
  23. A guy could pour a pad and make a quick garage out of one.
