  1. As I understand it, the current debt for each person living in Ontario is $22K and rising every day! HH
  2. Hmmm, let's see, an entrepreneur who has his finger on the business world takes the government to task on their new tax grab and folks are complaining that they don't like the guy. Not saying I am a fan of his, but from a business perspective, he hit the nail right on the head. It's not like we have any history with our current government wasting OUR money on projects administered by the public sector! LOL Sorry you guys don't see that. HH
  3. Fees will be going up every year to "match inflation" including fishing licenses, camping fees etc... virtually all service fees we currently pay. HH
  4. Couldn't have said it better myself! Funny, months ago when it was released that we are going to get cap and trade, I was told by my MPP's office that the consumer will not see an increase as a result of the program, then we find out this! I still can't figure out how my paying more for fuel, is going to save the planet. HH
  5. When this topic came up a few months ago, I contacted my local MPP to find out what this was going to mean to my bottom line. The MPP's office told me that there should not be any increase to the consumer as the tax was going to be at the manufacturing level and not at the pumps. Seems they have managed to monetize that price right onto the pumps. My question, is there ever going to be an end to this governments appetite for cash? I already know the answer. How long can we afford to live like this in an ever increasing tax structure? HH
  6. Next years free agent crop is pretty thin. The "best" free agents available are EE and Jose... I wouldn't ba at all surprised if they both get what they want, but not likely in Toronto! The only way Rogers can "step up" is to increase the payroll as close to $200 mill as they can.. otherwise, 2017 will be a re-building year. HH
  7. It is a bit labour intensive Chris, but the advantage is that you can can make a bunch put it in the fridge and use it as you need. HH
  8. Bautista's contract demands, as best guessed at this time, are certainly going to give the Roger's folks fits, as they decide where to spend their money. Obviously the concern regarding his age and what his age will be when the contract ends are paramount to the discussion. If I were to be running the team, I would just let all this slide for at least half of the season and see where they are as we near the trade deadline. At that point, they should know if the team is in a position to contend to the AL East. If they are contenders, sign Jose to what he wants, Rogers will more than make up that money in the final months of the season. Should they not be contenders, it may well be time to re-think the team and look into trading pending free agents for prospects. The team will have had two years to prove that they can win with this group of players. HH
  9. None taken! My response was intended to be some what tongue in cheek... For me, I have had the occasional piece of moose and I'll admit that I did not receive the loin as pictured above, but what I did try, needed some work done on it to make it palatable to my tastes. And I agree with your assessment of lesser cuts of meat, I typically buy what ever I can get at a good price and do the cutting and pounding myself. After all, Rouladen is by design, a great way to use up what ever you have on hand. HH
  10. What can I say, I must be a heathen... HH
  11. I'd cut those pieces of meat length wise, hammer flat so they are consistently an even thickness. Spread Dijon mustard on one side, and add a slice of pickel and a generous slice of onion and a 1/2 slice of bacon. Roll them up and use a toothpick to hold the rolls together. In a hot pot, add oil and fast fry the rolls, until browned on the outside... be careful not to over crowd the pot. Remove browned rolls and keep rotating them in and out until they are all browned. Once browned, de-glaze the pot using red wine or beef stock, be sure to scrap all the brown bits stuck to the bottom of the pan, that's where your flavour comes from. Once de-glazed, add the browned rolls back into the pot, add a pound of mushrooms, a 1/4 cup of red wine and enough beef stock to almost cover all the rolls in the pot. A bit of garlic wouldn't hurt here either! Bring it to a low boil and then put it in the oven at 275 degress for about 3-4 hours. Carefully remove the rolls from the pot and add enough flour to stiffen up the gravy. Put rolls back in the pot to absorb the gravy. Serve over mashed with seasonal veggies.... Rouladen! When done, you should be able to cut the meat with a fork. HH

  13. How'd that musky taste Geoffy? LOL HH
  14. A couple of points... -we did not start the war in Syria and we were not the ones killing innocents in that country. It has a history of killing it's own, as a form of ethnic cleansing, look it up. Yes we (the west) stepped in in an effort to rid the region of it's demonic leader and well, the best laid plans are obviously not working. But to say that we created this mess, is just not true. The Arab spring gave the region it's first taste of freedom, which left a bad taste in the mouths of those who oppose it. ISIS doesn't care for freedom. -our federal budget comes out next month, with a projected DEFICIT of $90 Billion and likely growing. How can we afford to leverage our own children's future by continually spending, while our economy falters, badly? I think that's what the OP in this thread was getting at and with that in mind, I have to agree with Big Cliff. HH
  15. If you decide to go two piece, be sure to buy the pants a size or two bigger than a regular fit. I did that and the bib on the pants almost reach my neck, allowing for lots of movement and heat retention up my back and front. When temps allow, you can take off the jacket and still be covered or you can un-zip the bib to allow cooling. It also allows you more range of movement. The down side, should you go in the drink, is that a two piece has a shorter window of survival, about 7 minutes less, then a one piece. HH
  16. It was 85F in San Francisco on the weekend and just a beautiful day at Pebble Beach/Carmel... and I get back to this crap! HH
  17. Someone dropped a banana in the water... HH
  18. The School Bus restaurant is no longer a school bus. (in Killarney) They have converted it to a full blown restaurant and fish shop. It's hit and miss as to what they have for offerings as it depends on what the fisherman catch that day. Expect perch or whitefish. I have a friend who has a place on the North Channel, 5 miles out form Killarney and spent a week there this past summer. A big plus 1 to ensuring that you have what you need, before turning off hwy 69. The general store has some basics, but fresh fruit and veggies are few and far between... and expensive! HH
  19. Not as in this case where the weather was so bad that they couldn't see the front end of their truck! HH
  20. GPS and compass are great, but they won't show you the pressure crack you are about to drive into. HH
  21. Welcome back to the fold Matt! We Leaf fans missed you! LOL HH
  22. Gotta give the new leaf management kudos for getting rid of a ton of salary in the last year! HH
  23. I'm having problems understanding why things un-folded on that streetcar the way they did. Sure, he was obviously distressed, given what he did on the streetcar before the cops arrived. But when the car was empty, cops everywhere, they stood in the doorway, with the doors open, demanding that he comply with their orders. Seems to me to be pretty obvious that he was under the influence and as such, he should have been handled differently. Why not simply shut the streetcar doors (you can do that with the switch under the sign at the front of the car) and wait for a supervisor with a taser to arrive and taser him? Surely the number of cops at the scene could have easily over-powered this kid, but instead, he gets shot 9 times!!!!! Either the cop was messed up himself or his training was woefully inadequate. HH
  24. This made me LOL! I like the way you think! What Dara said^. HH
  25. I just can't seem to figure out how Chris ever got a hold of 1/4 of a beer!!!!! HH
