  1. Welcome... finally someone to keep Brian in line! HH
  2. If fishing is your goal, I would re-consider Killarney! Although a very scenic and beautful park, not much in the way of fishing opportunities. And I do agree with Gerritt... Killbear is stunning as well! HH
  3. That blows that "Theory" right outta the water! HH
  4. Get well soon Cliff! Glad they caught it and your well on the way to a solid recovery! HH
  5. I too have been there and done that... same size pike, almost the same lure, difference being I had to cut mine out of my finger! Lost all feeling in that finger for quite a number of years! Look at the bright side, last year up at Massasaga, my brother sat on a 12 in musky lure he had forgotton he had set down on the boat seat! He had to stand up in the boat all the way back to the camp site and lie down in the back of the truck as my sister -in - law drove them to the doctor! Two trebles lodged in his rear end, the doctor in Mac Tier was laughing the entire time he was removing the hooks! An me without my camera! HH
  6. In a somewhat relate vein, I recently saw an interview with the former founder of Greenpeace. This gentleman was born and raised on Vancouver Island, in what was essentially a lumber camp. His desire to "save" the planet, stemmed from his experience as a kid, watching the natural beauty of the forest being destroyed by the lumber companies. He did however, take part in the re-planting of the area, which at the time, was a pretty new concept. After joining forces with some like minded people, they formed Greenpeace. He did not visit his home on the island for quite a number of years. His relationship with the now huge marketing machine that became Greenpeace began to disintegrate after he realized that they had no solutions to the problems they were attacking, only complaints. He broke ties with the organization and decided to head home to the island and regroup. Upon arrival, he was amazed at what he saw... areas that had been completely clear cut, are again healthy, growing forrests that could be harvested within the next couple of decades. He is now an advocate working with many of the largest lumber companies, helping them plan for the future, within this re-newable resource. Sorry for the long rambling, but I feel that, getting back to the question at hand... properly managed, it's a re-newable resource that carefully nurtured, can be available for many more generations to come. HH
  7. The lure at the top in the centre is a Spin i didy (SP), red and white. I have that lure in a frog pattern and have had it since the late 70's! I actually purchased it at the London Sportsman Show after being told by Red Fisher that it was a great lure at a really good price! Well, I must admit that it has caught fish for me, but, at the time, I could have caught a fish on a cigarette butt! Nice collection Johnny B! You might want to consider taking them in to a guy on Queen Street, just east of Parliament for an appraisal. HH
  8. I think they made a very good choice in choosing you to represent them! Like any business relationship, you get out what you put in! Best to you in this endeavor! HH
  9. The up side of the chalk outline, is that you can always sweep it up and gulp it down, to try and control some of that nasty after beverage heart burn! HH
  10. Take 'er easy Bob and get well soon! HH
  11. As Luvtodrift stated, there are many opportunities in the area, none that are really that great! The river in Port Franks has a decent smallie population, same can be said for many of the rivers (creeks more like it this time of year!) in the area. If GaryV spots this thread, he might have some more options for you as he lives just down the road from the Bend. Good luck! HH
  12. Yash Cliff, growing up in London, I spent many a May 24 weekend at the Pinery... they tell me I had a good time, I'll take there word on it! HH
  13. You can fish the river/pier right in Grand Bend for Perch, the various rivers that enter into the Lake are all no more than a 1/2 hour drive from the Bend. Where exactly will you be staying? Grand Bend itself or one of the many other spots in the area. Ipperwash PP? HH
  14. Nice boat Tony! You might want to consider getting Wayne to take a look at it before you take delivery.... HH
  15. Interesting... I didn't know that Sturgeon were so aggressive as to remove a pinky?!! Nest time she should try bait instead of digits!LOL HH

  17. A great tried and true recipe! I use my roasting pan instead of tin foil, makes it easier to remove the birds from the grill when their done. Also, just a tip, but ensure that you use a liquid, what ever it is in the can at room temperature. Taking a cold beer out of the fridge and using it will slow the cooking process and reduce the amount of moisture transfered to the bird! HH
  18. Sweet report and great pics FnS! You gott'em dialed in this year! HH
  19. Not sure about this, but are you allowed to have two fishing licenses under the same name? Great report, lookin forward to your new camera so we can really see some of those fish! HH
