I'm off to Erie this weekend, booked into a spot in Pt. Colborne, with pickeral being the target for three days! As we all know, Erie can blow up pretty fast and make a three day trip into a one or two days on the water trip. As I am not very familiar with the area, I was wondering if any of you might have some recommendations for alternatives, should Erie be too rough. We'll be in a 20 ft Tracker Targa, 225 ponies and fully rigged for Lead Core, Dipsey's, boards and riggers. We also wouldn't have a problem fishin bass or perch for that matter, should we run into waves over 5 ft on Erie. Don't want any honey holes, just suggestions. Willing to put a few km's on the truck to get to fishable waters. Thanks in advance... HH

Well I for one hope your right about Erie being fishable as I have plans to fish it Saturday, Sunday and Monday! The cause of this unusual weather is a low pressure cell that is located high in the atmosphere and has been sitting over that Lake Erie/southern Ontario area for a week or more! If it is indeed the culprit making Erie more fishable, I hope it hangs around a little longer! HH

Your probably right about that Chugger! But unless you have a spinning reel comparable in size to what they were using, I'd take the advice of the experienced musky guys and firstly, buy a new reel, why take a chance of ruining your trip with a busted reel and secondly, have the right equipment for your quarry! Decent spinning reels for pickeral and bass are not expensive, stop at BPS on the way up and you'll be golden! HH

My Buddy still uses a flasher when searching out fish at high speed. They work great at speeds that a regular finder just can't do! I'd keep it and use it as described! HH

My biggest pet peeve is the following; My buddy and I studied a number of Topo maps of an area we were interested in exploring. We found a small lake, just off the beaten path that we decided to try out. It turned out to be a really fine Largie lake, but at just over 2 football fields in size, there is a very good chance to completely devastate the lake by keeping limits every time in. Admittedly, we did keep a few for dinner, but there was a guy who came in every day we were there and took home his limit. We tried to speak nicely to him, he told us to go Broke Back Mountain each other! (Had a very difficult time stopping my buddy from aniholating him!) Not much else we could do without breaking the law, with the real fear being we would get charged, we just walked away. Since he was local, I'm guessing the lake has been killed off! HH

The Baptist Newfie..... A Newfie walks into a Toronto bar and orders three mugs of Moosehead. He sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more. The bartender approaches and tells the Newfie, "You know, a mug goes flat after I draw it. It would taste better if you bought one at a time." The Newfie replies, "Well, you see, I have two brothers. One's in Come by Chance and the other's in Cornerbrook. Before I left home, we promised each other that we'd drink this way to remember the days when we drank together. So I'm drinkin' one beer for each of my brothers and one for meself." The bartender admits that this is a nice custom and leaves it at that. The Newfie becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way. He orders three mugs and drinks them in turn. One day, he comes in and only orders two mugs. All the regulars take notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss." The Newfie looks quite puzzled for a moment, but then a light dawns in his eyes and he laughs. "Oh, no, everybody's just fine," he explains, "It's just that me wife and I joined the Baptist Church and I had to quit drinkin'." "Hasn't affected me brothers though." Hope you enjoyed! HH

Hey folks, Looks like we have some storms moving through again. Chatham, London and the north shore of Erie have storm watches in affect and the Ottawa area has storm warnings. If your heading out tonight, keep an eye on the sky! HH

Still remember watching Red Fisher as a kid and yes, I to have an autographed copy of his poems kickin around somewhere! If someone really would like to create a unique fishin show, they should gather up all of Red's old shows and put the sound tracks back in them! The talking over the video from the lodge, that the show always employed, always left me with the question "I wonder what they were really saying?" I bet it would be hilarious, but probably R rated!LOL HH

That's a sweet lookin ride that'll handle most fishin situations you'll find yourself wanting! Congrats and kudos to Steve! HH
