  1. I've had it happen to me more times than I'd care to remember! Most vivid memory is from fishin the Goderich pier for carp. Was with some newbies who were having a hard time tying their line so I moseyed over to help, looked over at my rod, only to see it being dragged into the lake. Grabbed my friends rod, tied on a 3/4 oz pixie spoon I had in my box and started draggin the bottom. Caught my line, my rod and eventually the 5lb carp that dragged it into the water! I think that rod has gone in the drink far too many times... I may be pushin my luck with it! HH
  2. Years ago as a teen, a few buddys and myself were in a 12 ft tinny on Long Point bay. I had just purchased a new "floating fillet knife" and was eager to show my buddys that it did indeed float! I dropped over the side and watched in horror as it sank quickly to the bottom! Turns out it only float when it is out of the sheath! Live and learn! HH
  3. Facts to know about job searching/advertising for employment opportunities; 70% of available jobs are filled by employee referrals 20% by online job boards and newspaper advertisement 10% by employment agencies Sorry for stealing the thread, thought some of you should know. Sounds like a great opportunity to learn some skills, get some much needed hands on work experience and a career path toward an individuals short, medium and long term plans. Good luck! HH
  4. Get him to give you a deal on a weekend during November or December and get out on Quinte and catch some of those mommas! That should help to eliminate some of your "buyer regret"! HH
  5. Congrats on the win! I just watched the video and it was pretty funny! Well deserved! HH
  6. As Biteme says... Pearl White or Fire Tiger! HH
  7. That Carp is massive! Great job! I can see how that would provide many hours of entertainment of such light equipment! Well done! HH
  8. Actually Roy, I was quite content to leave them alone or should I say, I didn't even know they were there until I got stung just walking past the nest! I can't recall the last time I was stung, until this recent episode, but with small kids and a family friend who's extremely allergic to stings, I felt I had to get rid of them. Sure is a lot of fun whackin them with the electric swatter though... guys gotta get his yaw yaws out some how! HH
  9. I had a Yellow Jacket problem a few weeks ago, they had established themselves where my deck meets the house. Being the adventurous type, I bought some wasp killer from CTC and also brought out my "bug Eliminator" electronic tennis racket type bug killer. I ensured that the family was inside and during the day, sprayed the nest with the killer. Some of those little guys, shall we say were unhappy with my efforts and came out at me with a vengeance! With my handy Bug Eliminator at hand, I had a riot zapping them and letting them know that unless and until they start paying the mortgage on the house, they are not welcome! I picked the Bug Eliminator up a BPS... anyone who sees it can't put it down! LOL HH
  10. If ya need any "ballast" on Quinte this fall Terry... just drop me a line! HH

  12. The board has been acting very strange today, for me anyway. Multiple times today, I have had the site time out or just not be available for me to view. Has anyone else had this problem today? Thanks HH
  13. Never go barefoot in a boat! Bugs, hooks all prevent me from even considering it as an option. I like my runners and the secure feeling of freedom they allow me to have! HH
  14. Congrats! I hope health and happiness follow you and your family! HH
  15. Here's a link to a potential solution to stupidity... subtle, but effective and fairly difficult to spot... http://www.catsdomain.com/ Bell sinkers work pretty good! I suggest a quick "waterline" shot and problem should be solved! HH
  16. Nice fish! I was gonna mention the same thing as Misfish... I though smiles were only allowed on shore! LOL Great pics and smiles! HH

  19. I'm off to Erie this weekend, booked into a spot in Pt. Colborne, with pickeral being the target for three days! As we all know, Erie can blow up pretty fast and make a three day trip into a one or two days on the water trip. As I am not very familiar with the area, I was wondering if any of you might have some recommendations for alternatives, should Erie be too rough. We'll be in a 20 ft Tracker Targa, 225 ponies and fully rigged for Lead Core, Dipsey's, boards and riggers. We also wouldn't have a problem fishin bass or perch for that matter, should we run into waves over 5 ft on Erie. Don't want any honey holes, just suggestions. Willing to put a few km's on the truck to get to fishable waters. Thanks in advance... HH
  20. Welcome and great pics! HH
  21. I reckon I'd like to get me some of that thar potatoe Salad....un huh! HH
  22. That sounds like your feeling much better Gary! Great to hear and thanks for the laugh! HH
  23. Well I for one hope your right about Erie being fishable as I have plans to fish it Saturday, Sunday and Monday! The cause of this unusual weather is a low pressure cell that is located high in the atmosphere and has been sitting over that Lake Erie/southern Ontario area for a week or more! If it is indeed the culprit making Erie more fishable, I hope it hangs around a little longer! HH
  24. Your probably right about that Chugger! But unless you have a spinning reel comparable in size to what they were using, I'd take the advice of the experienced musky guys and firstly, buy a new reel, why take a chance of ruining your trip with a busted reel and secondly, have the right equipment for your quarry! Decent spinning reels for pickeral and bass are not expensive, stop at BPS on the way up and you'll be golden! HH
  25. My Buddy still uses a flasher when searching out fish at high speed. They work great at speeds that a regular finder just can't do! I'd keep it and use it as described! HH
