While admittedly entertaining, I thought the game was a really good display of Junior A goaltending, by both guys! Neither team has the goaltending it takes to go anywhere in the playoffs, so it's just another year of disappontment for this long suffering Leaf Fan! HH

I heard this week that Belgium is considering a Green Tax on BBQ's. You can count on everything we have that uses energy, being considered as fair play by our governments, as a means of revenue generation. The best part is, they will tell us it's for our own or the environments own good! We can argue forever whether or not Global Warming is real, or not. One thing's guaranteed though, it's gonna cost us all where it hurts, in our pockets. Label it green, and they will pay! That's what this debate is really about, like it or not. HH

I can't, through personal experience, help you with this specific course or career path. However I can suggest a few "tricks" to get yourself noticed. -the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Sending letters and emails can help to get you introduced, but phone calls and follow ups to phone calls nets results -Ace all your courses! -Volunteer at any related function you can and kiss babies and shake hands! -asking advice from a group like this is a great way to start -if you can, find out who is highly respected within the MNR, (that goes for any other company as well) and be like their tail. Again, volunteer to help that person so they can then be a reference for you! -ensure that your resume/cover letter are concise, but detail oriented. Ensure that you describe the skills and experience you have, that make you stand out among your peers. Your past accomplishments are what will get you hired. Your love for the out doors and all that is is, is a given! Everyone who applys has the same interest and affections. Also, be sure to include any commendations you've received from pervious employers. -talk to as many people as you can! Now after you've done all that, re-look at the MNR as a career choice! Do your really want a job with an organization that is under funded, that has "surplus" staff, based on the Ministry's ability to field enforcement officers. Do you want to sit behind a desk? Oh and lastly, I'd bone up on my internal politics skills. HH

My thoughts, for what they are worth! Here in Canada, we don't have the population base to support larger tourneys! The vast majority of our population is urban and has little or no interest in fishing or fishing tournaments. Potential sponsors have very little money to spread around Canada, they just don't make nearly as much money as they do in the states. To date, there have only been 4 Canadian anglers attending attending the PWT as pro's, with only one ever winning a tournament outright! The field is usually around 150-200 boats. The cost of being in these tourney's is huge! Proper equipment aside, (Boat etc) each tourney entered, the angler can expect to be paying out anywhere from 3-5 thousand dollars (US) to pre-fish, lodging, fuel, food, etc... . Until a Canadian becomes a relatively house hold name for their success, I can't see the tourney thing taking off. (With all respect to Bob and some others) If you want to create interest, teach 'em young and encourage their participation in the sport. Some will step up, others won't! Kids have so many alternatives to attract their interest. The disposable income required to be a tourny participant has many groups vying their money! HH

Thanks again all! Joe, I'll post some pics of the place when I move in! (IF I ever figure out how to do it!LOL) Perhaps an OFC East end swill may be in order some time in the summer! Everyone bring their boat and we can "practice" backing it in! Give me an idea how big of a boat will fit! HH

Slowpoke, I spose the diving board could be construed as a "boat launcher"!LOL EddyK- I found the process pretty stressful, but I know that the house and as you mentioned, the neighbourhood will be worth it! I guess I will stoke Lew off of my list of potential labourers! Big Cliff, your absolutely right! This house is far superior to the one we "lost" back around a month ago and it doesn't require the 20K in up-grades the other one did! The real estate market in Toronto is absolutely nuts! The house we bought went on the market on Wednesday of last week. First open house was on Saturday and they were accepting offers on Monday! We were competing with 5 other families! My agent told me it's not unusual for houses in Toronto to have 10 or more offers, with out conditions. My word of advice for anyone looking to buy, go in big, with your absolute best offer and go in knowing that if you put any conditions on the offer, you have a very good chance to lose it! Again, a big thanks for all the kind words. HH

Thanks for all the kind words folks! FishnSled, I hope the feeling comes back to your toes real soon! Terry, you bust me up! The house has a two car garage, with one large single door... oh yah, I've already pictured my truck sitting in the driveway, so my boat (when I get it) will have the garage to call it's own! I really can't wait to get in there, it will be the first time in 14 years, that I will be able to store my 7ft one piece rod in a real place of it's own... my current house has a 6.6ft basement ceiling and I really couldn't convinve the wife to let me store it in the bed room! Anyone reccommend a good mover?LOL HH

Well, after three months of lookin and one failed offer, my wife and I bought a new to us house last night! I will finally be out of down town Toronto (the Hood) and into my own personal piece of heaven! I'll be moving at the end of June, (weekend after Lakair... I'm still coming! ) and will be living in the Kingston Road and Lawson Road area. Some of you may recall I tried to buy a house back in January, but came up short. I learned my lesson well in this very hot Toronto Real Estate market, if you wnat it, you have to go for it! This one does have a pool and if I recall correctly, I believe I promised Joey and few others that I would have a pool party if I got the house. Guess I'll have to plan for a group of people who can't decide whether to swim or cast their lures across the pool to see how their crank baits are runnin! Thanks to all for their previous words of encouragement. Now I've got two things to look forward to in June! HH

I live 5 minutes from there! Not surprised by the garbage at all! No excuses, but if you consider the number of people who use that area, travel past or through it, then add the winter months and the city's in-ability to clean during the snowy months, I'm not at all surpirsed by that! As I said, no excuses. HH

Quick pickled egg story... I was with a bunch of guys on a ice fishin trip to Quinte. We arrived the night before and began partying pretty hard. We brought 5 dozen pickled eggs with us, I ate 13 along with a dozen beer (Labatt 50) and a few Ceasars... well the next day in the hut, I was not a very popular guy. Also learned that day that wearing my floater suit in the hut exposed me to really nasty aromas! The stench would billow out the front of my pants and creep along the hut floor! Never seen those guys move so fast... HH

A Newfie makes his first ever trip to the main land on business. As he had some time to kill, he decided to take a tour through a local mall, to see what's what. He found himself in the biggest grocery store he had ever seen! Walking the aisles in sheer amazement at the quantity and quality of the goods offered, he then stopped in front of the meat section, staring in awe at all the meat available. He noticed what seemed to be the most popular item being sold were these tube like things the people were calling "sauce-ages". As they seemd to be all the rage, he decided to buy a pack and take them home, to his wife as a surprise. Upon arriving home, he hands his wife the "sause -ages" and tells her "honey, I'm goin fishin, I'd like you to have those there sauce-ages cooked up for me supper" and off he goes. In the evening, he arrives home and sits down at the dinner table and calls to his wife "honey, I'm ready for my "sauce-ages"! His wife brings in the plate from the kitchen and sets it down in front of him. He looks at the plate and only see's a puddle of grease and a small pile of skin. "Honey, what happened to my "sauce-ages", asked the Newfie? "Well, once you cut the head and tail off, then gut them, there's not alot left to cook!" said his wife! HH PS... sorry Misfish!

No joke Terry! I heard it on the news the other day. They may call the charge a "excessive conversation tax" just like the debt reduction tax. HH

Happy 11th aniversary of your 29th birthday! HH

Thanks for all of your replies! To those who provided specific information, I thank you! To those who commented on my sanity, appreciate the concern, but I'm not stupid, just curious! I'd like to get out this weekend and that's why I asked the question. I won't go if the conditions are bad, you won't see me on the news (unless I win the Lottery?LOL). I was just hoping to get some up to date conditions info, to save me the drive up, just to turn around! Thanks again all! FNS... I hear the boat calling you!!!! HH

Reminds me of something that my Dad did, a couple of years ago. He has been fighting grubs for years and finally got so irritated, that he took the Roto-Tiller to the front lawn. After only going a few feet, he noticed that there were grubs everywhere in the turned up soil. He quickly ran out to the back yard and got his 20 chickens to follow him to the front yard. Once they spotted the grubs, they would follow my old man around the front lawn, gorging themselves. Once he completed the lawn, he noticed that the chickens were not following any more, as a matter of fact, they were all just laying on the turned over dirt, breathing heavily! They had eaten so much, they couldn't walk! He had to carry them by hand, back to their coup, where they rested the rest of the day away. He got some mighty fine eggs from those Hens and even better chicken dinner! HH PS. The grubs came back the next year!

Thanks Tony... not what I wanted to hear, but better to know than find out the hard way! HH
