  1. Joey, I believe that in order to pass a "home inspection", I must have the dryer vented, to code and I believe that you are not allowed to use the plastic piping anymore because of fire hazard? HH
  2. Hey Wayne, maybe Lund's engineers are just to tired from re-designing the fuel system on the ProV and just didn't have enough energy left, to really put their hearts into the design of this boat! I hope they have re-thunk their design change to the Pro V's gas tank, but I doubt it! HH
  3. Hey folks, lookin for some advice here. I know I have to change the venting system on my clothes dryer. I currently have a flexible plastic hose connecting the dryer to the outside. I understand I require a metal pipe these days, just wondering if it must be a ridgid metal pipe or can I use the flexible metal piping I've found at Candian Tire? Thanks all! HH
  4. Blaque, check out "The Pod" for all the sounds you could want an much much more. HH
  5. Here's my take on the point and shoots. I'd choose a few models that I'm interested in, perhaps some of the suggestions you've laready received. I'd then go to a store that sells them and try each one out! My biggest beef with point and shoot cameras is the speed of the processor. In other words, the time it takes between me pushing the "shoot" button, and the camera actually doing it's thing and taking the shot! I find my target has already left, before the camera takes it shot! I'm hoping that the newer ones are much faster than my two year old Nikon. HH PS... Blacks has all of their digital cameras on sale right now and they will price match for three months after purchase.
  6. I'd be alot more upset, if I wasn't so heavily sedated! HH
  7. I know that guitar will match up quite nicely with the 100 watt Marshall Stack you just ordered as well!LOL Neat lookin axe! HH
  8. Pierre Berton's book Vimy is a very interesting read and really talks about how Vimmy Ridge established Canada as a country. HH
  9. Well, you could always "Red Green" it and add duct tape or black electrical tape! Just pretend it's an ice fishin rod!LOL HH
  10. I believe that they do that to the rod seat to increase the sensitivity to the angler. Direct hand contact to the blank is supposed to give you a better feel for light hits and taps. Quantum makes a pretty good rod for the money, heck, you can buy 4 for the price of some of the more expensive rods. I've had my 6.6ft Quamtum jiggin rod for many years, no problems. HH
  11. Guys, our people are there and dying. Let's not let this thread degenerate into a question of whether or not we should be there, but a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrafice in the service of their country. May they rest in peace and may our country take care of their famliy and friends. Never forget! HH
  12. Well, last time I checked, he hadn't won anything! He's not proven and has no real track record of success that would lead me to believe that he has what it takes to be an elite goalie. Elite goalies win cups for their teams. HH
  13. The Leaf's are in trouble for the next 3 years as they don't have a goal tender who can make the big save, when the team needs it most. Funny enough, I think Ottawa is in the same boat. Goaltending and defense with cups, so I have to say that Buffalo has the advantage. Perhaps the youth of Pittsburg can work to their advantage in a long series and you just can't count out Gary Roberts influence during the playoffs. I really hope that this long playoff drought hits home with MLSE and that the higher up heads roll down Bay street and into the harbour. Carp have to eat to, you know! HH
  14. Zib hit the nail on the head! I suffered back pain for years and after an operation in the mid 90's, it has been mainly good and stable. One of the things I learned from my surgeon was that the body steals required elements from itself, in order to perform what the brain tells it. If you don't drink enough water, the body will "steal" water from areas it preceives as being "non-essential", with one of the biggest areas being our discs. Our discs are made up of material which is similar to crab meat in texture. When the body is starved for water, it will draw water from your discs and cause you limitless trouble. The discs become more "brittle" and will quickly degenerate. Keep you fluids up, proper exercise and posture and you will be off to a great start. HH
  15. Hey Lew, you've been given a great deal of good advice here on Dipsey set ups. If I may make a suggestion re: your Spring Quinte trip? Don't bother with Dipsey's on Quinte, atleast not in the Spring! I personally didn't get a fish on Dipsey's last year on Quinte and a guide buddy of mine didn't get one all year on Dipsey's! Your best bet for Quinte, that time of year would be to keep a close eye on water temps, look for warmer water entering deeper cold water areas (bay mouths) and troll these edges. Remember to down size your baits, nothing over 1/2 an oz., with 3/8oz being ideal. Try and keep that bait no more than a foot off the bottom and hold on! If I was going to invest in a rod for Quinte and many other applications, I'd look to Lead Core as a more effective and dynamic method of presentation. As for in-line planers, I only use mono, 20lb. After you've learned how your rod reacts, you'll know if a fish is on, it just takes practice. I've seen too many fish lost on braid as there is no forgiveness. Just rip the hooks right out. Mono, is far more forgiving. (I'm only talkin Pickeral here) I don't leave my clicker on, with a loose drag, to indicate a fish on. I watch my line, MY BOARD, and how they are reacting to the conditions. It takes practice and some experimentation, but you will learn and be a better angler. HH
  16. While admittedly entertaining, I thought the game was a really good display of Junior A goaltending, by both guys! Neither team has the goaltending it takes to go anywhere in the playoffs, so it's just another year of disappontment for this long suffering Leaf Fan! HH
  17. I heard this week that Belgium is considering a Green Tax on BBQ's. You can count on everything we have that uses energy, being considered as fair play by our governments, as a means of revenue generation. The best part is, they will tell us it's for our own or the environments own good! We can argue forever whether or not Global Warming is real, or not. One thing's guaranteed though, it's gonna cost us all where it hurts, in our pockets. Label it green, and they will pay! That's what this debate is really about, like it or not. HH
  18. According to the Precision Trolling Guide, The Pointer 78DD will max out at 7ft, with 100 ft. of 10 lb mono. Not much below 13ft on any of the the others listed in the guide. HH
  19. I can't, through personal experience, help you with this specific course or career path. However I can suggest a few "tricks" to get yourself noticed. -the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Sending letters and emails can help to get you introduced, but phone calls and follow ups to phone calls nets results -Ace all your courses! -Volunteer at any related function you can and kiss babies and shake hands! -asking advice from a group like this is a great way to start -if you can, find out who is highly respected within the MNR, (that goes for any other company as well) and be like their tail. Again, volunteer to help that person so they can then be a reference for you! -ensure that your resume/cover letter are concise, but detail oriented. Ensure that you describe the skills and experience you have, that make you stand out among your peers. Your past accomplishments are what will get you hired. Your love for the out doors and all that is is, is a given! Everyone who applys has the same interest and affections. Also, be sure to include any commendations you've received from pervious employers. -talk to as many people as you can! Now after you've done all that, re-look at the MNR as a career choice! Do your really want a job with an organization that is under funded, that has "surplus" staff, based on the Ministry's ability to field enforcement officers. Do you want to sit behind a desk? Oh and lastly, I'd bone up on my internal politics skills. HH
  20. My thoughts, for what they are worth! Here in Canada, we don't have the population base to support larger tourneys! The vast majority of our population is urban and has little or no interest in fishing or fishing tournaments. Potential sponsors have very little money to spread around Canada, they just don't make nearly as much money as they do in the states. To date, there have only been 4 Canadian anglers attending attending the PWT as pro's, with only one ever winning a tournament outright! The field is usually around 150-200 boats. The cost of being in these tourney's is huge! Proper equipment aside, (Boat etc) each tourney entered, the angler can expect to be paying out anywhere from 3-5 thousand dollars (US) to pre-fish, lodging, fuel, food, etc... . Until a Canadian becomes a relatively house hold name for their success, I can't see the tourney thing taking off. (With all respect to Bob and some others) If you want to create interest, teach 'em young and encourage their participation in the sport. Some will step up, others won't! Kids have so many alternatives to attract their interest. The disposable income required to be a tourny participant has many groups vying their money! HH
  21. Thanks again all! Joe, I'll post some pics of the place when I move in! (IF I ever figure out how to do it!LOL) Perhaps an OFC East end swill may be in order some time in the summer! Everyone bring their boat and we can "practice" backing it in! Give me an idea how big of a boat will fit! HH
  22. Slowpoke, I spose the diving board could be construed as a "boat launcher"!LOL EddyK- I found the process pretty stressful, but I know that the house and as you mentioned, the neighbourhood will be worth it! I guess I will stoke Lew off of my list of potential labourers! Big Cliff, your absolutely right! This house is far superior to the one we "lost" back around a month ago and it doesn't require the 20K in up-grades the other one did! The real estate market in Toronto is absolutely nuts! The house we bought went on the market on Wednesday of last week. First open house was on Saturday and they were accepting offers on Monday! We were competing with 5 other families! My agent told me it's not unusual for houses in Toronto to have 10 or more offers, with out conditions. My word of advice for anyone looking to buy, go in big, with your absolute best offer and go in knowing that if you put any conditions on the offer, you have a very good chance to lose it! Again, a big thanks for all the kind words. HH
  23. Nice one! Animals and kids, they have radar for this type of thing! HH
  24. You can reach Normark Canada at (905) 571-3001. HH
  25. Again... thanks to all for the kind words! Joey, you might want to bring that cooler! Keep it beside the pool! HH
