Cleaning fish - The reason for the post.
Headhunter replied to fishnsled's topic in General Discussion
This entire situation is nothing more than a mockery of a travesty! Holy remote taxation! I understand what your doing, but honestly, if I had the time and the money to fight it, I would! I can't help but think that this is going on all the time and exactly how much money is this sort of "enforcement" costing the good people of the north, in tourist dollars?! Ask yourself this question... if you were visiting our fine country, spent a ton of dough to get to a remote site and have the "local authorities" treat you like this.... would you come back and spend your hard earned dollars? If I owned the camp you were staying at, I'd be raising cane to the local MNR office! HH -
Justherb is going on one last fishing trip.

My condolences to you Cliff and all who were affected by this loss! A very fitting tribute as well. HH -
Not surprised by your catch Clive! The Thames will surprise you almost every time out! There are tons of White Bass in and around the Springbank Dam, just toss a minnow and hook, no weight into the turbulence under the dam and you will catch them all day! Also, you'll find Gar, Bowfin, Pickeral, trout, smallies, pike... well as I said, pretty much anything goes! Another spot to try, close to down town is the train bridge on Horton street. There is a very deep hole under that bridge and I have caught pickeral there in mid July. There are also some really nice smallies that hang in that section of the river, all the way up to the Labatt's dam. If your fishin Carp in the Thames, big fat juicey night crawlers are an excellent bait! And if it's carp your after, the train bridge in Greenway Park and down stream to the big river curve holds tons of huge carp and suckers. It's a nice quiet area to spend a nice summer day! Let me know if I can be of any other help! I grew up fishin that river! HH

Thanks for the kind words folks! Moving is not fun, but the rewards are worth it! Tony, glad things are workin out for you on the move. I keep reminding myself that the main causes of divorce are money problems and moving! My wife and I agreed early one that we will not argue during the move... atleast not with each other!LOL Gerritt... so you are heading up with the boss to "Camp Sleep Deprivation?" Have a great time! It's a beautiful place, try and not spend too much time exploring the lodge and boat house... that could take you the better part of the weekend! While your there, see if you can find some fish as well! The Ontario record rainbow caught last year by the couple pickeral fishin is only 5 miles away from the boss's camp... lots of water to fish, maybe too much Set up the minnow trap when you get there and try drifting the main channel out in front of the camp... some nice smallies cruise out there! Take care folks! HH PS... the pool is open and ready to accept swimmers... I've already started to take the hooks off of some of my cranks... so I can test them out in the pool... strictly for tuning purposes!

Just wanted to wish all a great weekend. I'm off till next Tuesday, moving into my new to me house on Thursday. I hope everyone who gets out and enjoys the weekend is safe, surrounded by good friends and loved ones and hooks into and lands, the fish of their dreams! Myself, I'm unloading trucks, storage containers and trying to find a bathroom in the new house. Looking forward to reading all the reports next week! HH

Thanks Folks! Keep them coming! Appreciate the insight and time it takes to post! HH

Hey folks, I'm in the market for a 2nd car, with gas consumption and family safety being the keys to this buying decision. My Jimmy just isn't fuel efficient enough to drive back and forth from my new house, into town. I've been looking at the Subaru, specifically the Forrester. Does anyone have any experience with these vehicles? I've driven one of my friends a few years ago, seemed like a peppy car, very stable. Any thoughts on these vehicles? Good or bad, let it fly! HH PS... If you have a 4 cylinder vehicle that's in good shape and your interested in selling it.... PM me!

Wow, he's a natural G! Great pics, will be worth their weight in gold in a few years! Thanks for taking the time to post! Great read, but better pics! HH -
Yup, just as Tony said! We all learn from our experiences, each has there own preferences. Give'm a go and you'll like them alot... or, hire a guide for a day on say Lake Erie, watch them like a hawk and repeat! As I run Offshore boards, I have changed the main clip to the locking kind and have yet to have a fish dislodge the board... I can see how it would happen with churches. Don't forget Lead core off of the boards... HH

Thinking about upgrading your BBQ?

Saw one similar at the home show, it was around $12,000.00! Really sweet unit, but man for that price... just to cook at carp/turbot? HH -
Hey Blaque... no need for beads or anything else... I run 20lb mono, tied to a snap, not snap swivel, and my lure! That's it! Simple to do and very effective. I personally don't like to run braids off of boards for Walleye's... I like the stretch that mono gives when the fish strike, I believe I land more fish with mono that with braid, of course I'm only talking board fishin, I'm not talkin Dipsey's! Braid is necessary for dipsey's, amoung other things! You also, may want to consider picking up a copy of "The Precision Trolling guide". It will outline all of the techniques discussed and also provide you with depth charts for most of the popular cranks available. HH

Just remember when running multiple boards, say three per side, to run your most shallow running bait on the outside board and deeper for the middle board and deepest for your inside board. That way when you hook a fish on the outside board, you won't have to reel in the other two boards on the same side. We usually run the lead core lines off the inside board... they tend to run baits deeper. I recommend a minimum 8ft rod, heavy action... Shimano TDR rods are good strong rods and pretty cheap, under $40.00 and can be had at BPS for under $30.00 when they go on sale. As Tony mentioned, be sure to match the clip to your line. After market clips are available for the Off-Shore boards and you can rest assured that they will not let go! Once you start planer board fishin, you won't go back to straight trolling! Good luck!~ HH

Hope you have a great trip FnS! Don't worry, I've gotten over my disappointment but still hope you have a great trip and catch lots of fish etc.... Have fun and be safe! HH

Planning 1st trip to the Might FRENCH RIVER **need some advice**
Headhunter replied to addy79's topic in General Discussion
Another potential option would be Georgian Bay Fishing Camp. It is located very close to where the French enters Georgian Bay. Plenty of water to fish. HH -
What the hell is wrong with these people???

Yet another example of how this communist government in Toronto has dragged some very sound and dedicated people through the mud! As Tony said, if there was any money in it for them, they'd have all cars in Toronto waving a sticker. I'd make the call to my council member, if I didn't know it would fall on deaf ears! She's one of the leading communist's there are! Keep the faith folks... we are supporting the right people here... eventually it will become "popular" to support the troops... I hope they know that we do support them, it's those imbeciles at city hall that don't have their priorities right! HH -
Hey all... just issued by environment Canada, severe weather watch for most of Southern Ontario! Here we go again! http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/re..._e.html?onrm126 Take care if your heading out on the water or highway! HH Edit... looks like ya beat me by a minute dsn!

I'm sure that your customers will appreciate that ride on some of those "slightly" rough Erie days! Should be a stable ride! HH

Don't worry.. the repercussions won't happen until you get back and they will be much easier to deal with, after a week away! HH

I can feel the excitement in your post! Congrats to you and your family... get your sleep while you can! HH

Can';t tell you how angry reading post's like this make me!!!! Lazy, no good for nothing people who aren't willing to pull their own weight, burns my ba-doop-doo! Consider the east end of Toronto covered, I'd take a great deal of pride in nailing them! HH
-
Nice report Terry and good catchin! Don't worry about the shirt comments... none of them have a tie that will go with it anyway! LOL (You could borrow Irishfield's thought!) HH
