Killarney Provincial Park Camping this weekend
Headhunter replied to 007's topic in General Discussion
Take the rods, but leave your serious catching expectations at home!LOL Definately bring them, however I'd be very sure that I connected with the park authorities before I wet a line! As Gerritt mentioned, it is some of the most beautiful country in this province, but the park lakes offer very little in shore fishing/boat fishing opportunities. HH PS... there are rumours of Musky that frequent the main channel in Killarney! PSS... you really can't say you've done Killarney until you visit the fish n chips truck, right at the end of the highway, beside the government dock! Mmmmmm... perch! -
Congrats on your "catch of the summer"! Best to you and your family! HH

BAY OF QUINTE MERLIN PARK WEEKEND OF NOVEMBER 17 2007
Headhunter replied to BITEME's topic in General Discussion
Cottage number two is now booked for Headhunter and FishnSled! Awe, such a lovely view as well! Just hope Wayne's new ride doesn't take up all of the dock space! HH -
Rule of thumb to consider re eating Lake O or and fish from any body of water... if it has the celsius/fahrenheit scale stamped on it's side, you might reconsider keeping it! HH

Sounds about right to me to! Count me in! HH -
It's funny, but you can always tell in these types of threads, who are "employees" and who are "employers" based on their responses and their perceived pains! Just an observation! HH

I've already had my one week off this year! LOL May get a couple more days here and there before the new year! Actually, I have not had two consecutive weeks off in 18 years! Just can't afford that much time away from business. HH

Hey Rick, I have an old (5 years) Canon Mini DV camera. You down load from the camera using "Fireline" and save it just like anything else. I haven't really looked at what's available out there lately, but you can't go wrong with Canon or Sony. The miniDV tapes are not cheap and do have the inherent challenges that any tape format provides... bad sectors, dropped tape means lost info and eventual degradation on the tape signal by playing it over and over and as well, the tape will stretch every time you re-wind it. I guess that if I was once again on the market for a video camera, I'd initially focus on the ones that have internal memory or burn straight to disk. Not much help I know... good luck. HH

I've heard that if you spray them with a hose, really soak them down, they won't be able to lift their tail, with the weight of the water on it and therefore won't be able to spray you. HH

Shmorgishborg Today On Long Island Sound
Headhunter replied to FishHeadRic's topic in General Discussion
What a great report FRH! It's all new to me and I can't seem to get enough of it! Thanks for taking the time and keep'em coming! I find it fascinating! HH -
Yup, just a bit down stream from the train bridge is a small feeder creek that is used to control the water levels of the coves. Since I was a boy, that creek has held soft shell turtles, painted turtles as well as some massive snappers! Nice pics, thanks for posting! HH

Thanks for your efforts Joey! The picture looks great and Lew, you deserve it! BTW - I didn't know Paul had a fore head!! LOL Congrats Lew! HH

Here in Canada, you think you own the land, but you really don't! Case in point, the government ( the Queen) can and will expropriate your land for a new say, airport, road etc... so in reality, you really don't own the land! HH

Each year is different, but they usually begin staging around the gap area from mid September and will continue to move in until January. Last year we found that the majority of the fish had passed the Picton area into the Belleville/Trenton area by the end of December, with very little success in January. Ideal times for the Picton /Adolphus Reach area, November and December. Each year is different, ya gotta hit the water and give 'er a go! HH

No, it wouldn't work, but it would a great start! HH

GCD... then I'd be a bald headed chicken plucker! HH
-
Thanks GCD... still seems wrong to me! I'm 6ft, 3inch tall, but would be 6ft 6inches tall if my hair is standing straight up... I wonder if I should change the info on my drivers license to reflect the possibility that it may stand straight up if I get pulled over by a cop one day! LOL HH

Thanks guys! Now it leads me to ask, is pinching the tail really a proper measurement of the fish? I don't suppose the fish are sitting around on the bottom of a lake, comparing size and pinching each other's tails, now are they? Shouldn't the fish's measurement be taken as the fish is simply laid down against a ruler? I don't get why they are "pinched" Thanks for your patience! Roy, I see that you wrote the regs, but I still don't get why they are pinched! HH
-
I didn't want to hi-jack the "Size does matter thread" but I do have a question regarding "pinching the tail"? I have never come across this as I don't really keep alot of fish. Can someone enlighten me as to how and why this is done? Thanks, HH

Re: 407 fees... most out of province vehicles are not charged for using the 407, only us in Ontario are bearing those costs! That being said, I believe that the consortium of thieves that runs the 407 have begun building relationships with other provinces and states to allow them to charge out of province drivers their ridiculous fees for using the highway. As others have stated, baring any real accident on the 407 or 400, you should be fine and rather un-eventful coming through the city. HH

If your company has a H.R. department, that should have been you first stop. HR is trained to deal with these things and will go to bat for you, assuming you are a valued employee. If you have a history of "tummy aches" well, you've cried wolf too many times. Again, assuming you have an HR department, I'd let them know what has transpired, to ensure that it's all properly documented by them... so you've covered your behind for the future. As for your current manager, I'd sit him/her down once your back to 100% and ask him what he thinks you could have done differently, in order for him/her to understand your situation more clearly. Should that discussion not net you any results, again consider talking to HR and or you manger's boss. PS... it never hurts to have your resume up to date!LOL HH
