Another option for you would be to purchase the Precision Trolling Guide, Dipsey version. I'll give yah a pretty good idea, but as Raf says, nothing is exact and you may have to play around a little to be confident in presentation. Just google "Precision Trolling Guide" to learn more. HH

Yup... just saw the thread... PM sent! HH

Done like a nice fish dinner! HH

Actually, we do it as soon as we decided we are going to keep 'em. Slit the throat, drop 'em in the "dead well" and your good to go! Just remember to clean out the dead well before you go out again as the blood does stink if left for a while! HH
-
Simply slit the throat just below the gills and let them bleed out. Tastier fillets, without any of the blood still in the meat. HH

Absolutely, without a doubt... Lard is king! The doctor can go pound salt! HH

Teenage Head!LOL As I have a real personal problem with "speech impediment rock" I simply can't get past Neil's tone deafness! He's a great song writer, but his voice and pitch leave just too much to be desired! Turning into a Finger Eleven fan as I was just given their new album and it is really quite good! HH

Help attaching leadcore to Power Pro and/or mono
Headhunter replied to ilario's topic in General Discussion
Correct... lead core is very much speed dependent. Running that much line out (10 colours) and a dipsey... you had better have a pretty stout rod! HH -
Fantastic report... got me ":pine'in" for a trip up north! Thanks so much for taking the time... as many already mentioned, great pic and I felt I was with right there with you! (I wish!) HH

Help attaching leadcore to Power Pro and/or mono

10 colours out off of an in-line board and you've got pretty much the same result as the dipsey. BTW - I've got about 100 -150 yds. of 30 lb backing on my lead core reel... but I hear yah! Maybe take a look at a large capacity Penn reel for this application... since your using lead core anyway, you don't REALLY need a counter reel. HH -
Help attaching leadcore to Power Pro and/or mono
Headhunter replied to ilario's topic in General Discussion
My Lead Core set up uses mono backing... 30lb test to be exact. I to, use the super glue trick! As Lead core linesvary in strength, I use the 30lb mono with I believe around 34lb (?) Leadcore. Pull about 2-3 inches of the core sheath back, and cut the lead. Insert your mono into the sheath and super glue the entire joint. Let it sit for about 5 minutes and your done. As mentioned above, Lead core strengths vary and you may have to experiment with various strengths of mono to get the best fit. FYI - I have never had this application break! Trout, Salmon, Pickeral... none have broken it and it lasts as long as your mono lasts. It reels up into a level wind perfectly and is flexible enough to use in sub zero temps! You can also do it while out on the water as it's really pretty easy! HH -
Yup... what musky Matt said... if the burner is pushed up too far into the valves, the bbq is being starved of air flow and your just burning propane as opposed to oxygen and propane. Try moving the burner away from the valves and the try adjusting the oxygen breathers to get a blue flame! HH

Just speculation but I don't think Lake Erie's temperature range would support Atlantic Salmon? Just a guess though? HH

Congrats Clive! That's a good Pike for that water! The Thames is really an amazing fishery, considering what it is and where it is... yah just never really know what yer gonna get! And you've really only concentrated on one small section! Keep up the good work! HH

Fish Saginaw Bay! Walleye heaven I understand! HH

NO licence required TJ... it's a "put and take" resource! HH

Just pop open a man hole cover, drop a ham sandwich down the hole, fells like ice fishin, and get ready for a "CHUD" to grab it and run! (CHUD - Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller!) They put up on heck of a fight, but are not recommended table fare! HH

Thanks to all who responded, here and through PM's! I think I've got 'er solved at this point, but I do reserve the right to come back and beg for help! LOL HH

Hi folks! I have just moved into my new to me house, it has an in-ground pool and I'm having some concerns about the pump/filter system. If anyone out there has some knowledge in this area, I'd sure appreciate a PM! Thanks in advance! HH

Wow Gary! Last message I got from you sounded like you had things back on track! I guess with a weight loss program like that, who the heck needs Jenny Craig? Take'er easy, leave your ego out on the lake and get better soon! In reality, you've really only missed two weeks of the bass season... they'll be there when you get there! Take care and do what the doc and your loved ones tell yah! I hope to read about your successful outing soon! HH Oh yah... Happy Birthday!

Congrats BBR! Advice will come at you from all directions, fast and furious. Here's the only thing I will say to you... cherish the times you spend with your little one's. I know it seems like they're never gonna grow up fast enough and that you will have to change many of the things you've been doing, to accomodate the new family. They grow up fast, much faster than it seems when your living through it! Cherish these times, you don't get a 2nd chance! HH

Hey Clive... if you happen to spot some gar, try this... tie on a medium to small size treble hook and hook up a small float about 6-8 inches above the treble. Wrap as many minnows around that treble (they don't have to be alive) as you can and toss it out to them. They will drag it around for a bit... when you think you have an opportunity for a hook set, let 'er have it! Found small count down Raps to be the ticket in the deep pools you'll find for pickeral. Also, floating jointed Raps almost always caught us smallies... just cast in and around anything that is making a current break and you'll find them. Sorry I didn't know that Springbank Dam is wide open... been 25 years! LOL HH
