  1. What a great report FRH! It's all new to me and I can't seem to get enough of it! Thanks for taking the time and keep'em coming! I find it fascinating! HH
  2. Yup, just a bit down stream from the train bridge is a small feeder creek that is used to control the water levels of the coves. Since I was a boy, that creek has held soft shell turtles, painted turtles as well as some massive snappers! Nice pics, thanks for posting! HH
  3. Thanks for your efforts Joey! The picture looks great and Lew, you deserve it! BTW - I didn't know Paul had a fore head!! LOL Congrats Lew! HH
  4. That Brown is a monster! Great pics, thanks for posting! HH
  5. I'm not really the very emotional type, but wow, that caught me off guard... thanks for posting it... all I could think of was my own daughter and well... enough said! HH
  6. Burlap, a brick and a long toss of a short pier! HH
  7. Here in Canada, you think you own the land, but you really don't! Case in point, the government ( the Queen) can and will expropriate your land for a new say, airport, road etc... so in reality, you really don't own the land! HH
  8. Each year is different, but they usually begin staging around the gap area from mid September and will continue to move in until January. Last year we found that the majority of the fish had passed the Picton area into the Belleville/Trenton area by the end of December, with very little success in January. Ideal times for the Picton /Adolphus Reach area, November and December. Each year is different, ya gotta hit the water and give 'er a go! HH
  9. No, it wouldn't work, but it would a great start! HH
  10. GCD... then I'd be a bald headed chicken plucker! HH
  11. Thanks GCD... still seems wrong to me! I'm 6ft, 3inch tall, but would be 6ft 6inches tall if my hair is standing straight up... I wonder if I should change the info on my drivers license to reflect the possibility that it may stand straight up if I get pulled over by a cop one day! LOL HH
  12. Thanks guys! Now it leads me to ask, is pinching the tail really a proper measurement of the fish? I don't suppose the fish are sitting around on the bottom of a lake, comparing size and pinching each other's tails, now are they? Shouldn't the fish's measurement be taken as the fish is simply laid down against a ruler? I don't get why they are "pinched" Thanks for your patience! Roy, I see that you wrote the regs, but I still don't get why they are pinched! HH
  13. I didn't want to hi-jack the "Size does matter thread" but I do have a question regarding "pinching the tail"? I have never come across this as I don't really keep alot of fish. Can someone enlighten me as to how and why this is done? Thanks, HH
  14. Re: 407 fees... most out of province vehicles are not charged for using the 407, only us in Ontario are bearing those costs! That being said, I believe that the consortium of thieves that runs the 407 have begun building relationships with other provinces and states to allow them to charge out of province drivers their ridiculous fees for using the highway. As others have stated, baring any real accident on the 407 or 400, you should be fine and rather un-eventful coming through the city. HH
  15. If your company has a H.R. department, that should have been you first stop. HR is trained to deal with these things and will go to bat for you, assuming you are a valued employee. If you have a history of "tummy aches" well, you've cried wolf too many times. Again, assuming you have an HR department, I'd let them know what has transpired, to ensure that it's all properly documented by them... so you've covered your behind for the future. As for your current manager, I'd sit him/her down once your back to 100% and ask him what he thinks you could have done differently, in order for him/her to understand your situation more clearly. Should that discussion not net you any results, again consider talking to HR and or you manger's boss. PS... it never hurts to have your resume up to date!LOL HH
  16. Great report Terry and funny enough, you didn't mention a thing about all the "Terry clones" you took the pic of... no wonder you keep going back! HH
  17. I bet you could get a big pile of meat from that catch! What's the proper holding technique for taking pics? HH
  18. Fantastic offer Cliff... very generous of you! I wish you th best of luck in your new "career" and hope it amounts to everything you want it to! HH
  19. Awesome report and pics... looks like you guys had a great time, despite the adversity... thaks for taking the time! HH
  20. Interesting... a first for me that's for sure... just wondering if it's still swimmin? HH
  21. I hope not Roy! Thanks to all who have replied here and via PM's. My goal was not to start any bickering, just poll the group for their ideas. Thanks again all... some good stuff here! ... especially the Gobie Chartering! LOL HH
  22. Be careful with the Cerwin Vegas! They are typically a significantly more efficient speaker than most on the market and as such, you will have sound balance issues if your not running Vegas on all speakers. I'd stick to the Paradigm (That's what I have) or PSB's (both manufactured in Canada) As for the Panasonic vs the Denon... two different classes of applification so power ratings go right out of the window! The Denon is a much better machine. Same class as say a Yamaha or Marantz. For the money, if you can find a dealer in your area, check out the Onkyo surround reciever... excellent sound and really good power supply built in... that's the main thing that usually goes first in audio equipment. HH
  23. Interesting point Raf... and you may be correct. I'm going to run this thread past him and see what he says! HH
  24. Advertising here was definately brought up in our chat, however experience has taught him that advertising on fishing sites like this do little to increase business. Folks that frequent here are far more likely to go out on their own than hire a guide. It's like trying to sell Bibles to the choir! Appreciate the thoughts folks... any others? HH
  25. A good friend of mine has been guiding for a number of years and he and I were talking about how he can potentially increase the number of charters he does per year. We talked about advertising in magazines and bantered back and forth which publications should be considered. Any ideas which publications you'd consider a good investment for his advertising dollars and why? Thanks all! HH
