  1. I dunno who you are asking about but I do know that Jackie Mason is still alive.
  2. Lowe 1258 weighs in at 128 lbs. 12' Lowe utility Check your owners manual for your vehicle. Rack capacity should be stated, prob about 150 lbs.
  3. This outfit might be worth dropping an email to. They carry PolarKraft and Lowe Dunnville Boat Dealer/Marina
  4. Yes John, I have considered your very thoughts more than once. We have invaded the entire world even areas that cannot naturally support human life. We are the ultimate invader and have destroyed nature everywhere and the natural order every place we go....but then I guess that is just natural....for humans.
  5. HH, Lets all go
  6. Lowe makes a jon boat...so does crestliner...BTW, Lowe = Crestliner & Crestliner = Lowe, same company same hull check around for the best price if shopping new. Another point, consider a modified jon rather than the regular flat bow. Or consider a regular hull boat for versatility. Lowe boats
  7. Great! Hope this works out well. Now remember...when that plumber is bent down repairing a kitchen sink drain remember to walk over and kiss his plumbers crack. Sorry, just trying to find a humourous way to say kiss this guy's butt and stay on his good side. Dump the job on the butcher's crew at your first opportunity.
  8. Somedays we really should stick with fishing related topics and keep our own personal politics to ourselves.
  9. All the best on your first day. Keep us up to speed
  10. You can always pop over to Couch, Simcoe or Dalrymple for a little fishing too if you have your own boat. All else fails and it's a rainy day you can even make your day even drearier by popping into the casino to leave a donation behind.
  11. Give it a try. Nothing to lose is there? I went through what you are feeling several years ago. The company and the owner had a reputation that proceeded him like a parade. I took the chance and made a little money, but I was always looking over my shoulder and was always apprehensive which was very unfortunate. If I had let my personal opinions hide themselves in my the far reaches of my mind and memory I would have done better in sales, made a lot more money and would have enhanced my own reputation for succeeding so well under such circumstances. Another possibility is that I could have pursued was to have confronted him with all I knew of his history (after getting started) and see what the results would have been. After all, I really had nothing to lose, right? And I would have gotten a lot off my chest after giving him the opportunity to discuss the situation. It would have not been pleasant to bring the matter forward but at least everything would have been out in the open, I would have some answers that were both truth and fiction but any answers to concerns that put your mind at ease are good. Let go of your feelings and go for it. Like Bobby McFarren sang in his song..."Don't Worry, Be Happy."
  12. Gas prices are one of the great mysteries of our world. Demand goes up a little, the price goes up. Dollar goes down, price goes up. Per barrel crude price goes up, price goes up. Price per barrel crude goes down, price goes up. Price per barrel steady, price goes up. No matter what happens there is always an excuse turned around to favour them. Go figure. No matter how much we carp and whine it's going to always be the same. The big guys got you by the curlies and they will keep pulling. Only thing we can do is quit driving...as if we can do that. There are going to be many changes to our lifestyles in the future as we become more and more conscious of energy costs.
  13. Sitting here now at home, on PH jr's laptop. Thanks for the well wishes. Got a scare though, they were late taking me down to the O.R by 1/2 an hour. Then I had to lay there on the stretcher for an hour in the O.R hall. Problem? Yep. No nurses! Seems that someone told the staff to take off early as they were ahead of the game by an hour and a half. The next shift at 3 would be in and that was the prob. By the time this was coming about I had a companion on a stretcher next to me. We looked at each other in amazement as my surgeon, a plastic surgeon and an anesthetist stood there whining about the situation because they had patients waiting in limbo. You should have been there! My Doc is hollering and cursing using the F word sounding like 3 truck drivers cursing about getting cut off on the highway well as the plastic surgeon and the anesethist. Kind of made me re-think the whole idea of going through with it all. Eventually they got it all sorted out and wheeled me in and before I knew it I was waking up in recovery. By the way, recovery room nurses have little sense of humour...guess they have heard them all before. I lifted the cover, looked down at my legs and said "Hey!" I couldn't figure out why my right knee is so sore. he was supposed to do the left! The answer was a very dry no he didn't. She shut me up with a shot of morphine in the I.V. In the end it all went well. Soon the fishing pole will be in hand...maybe even tomorrow. A trip to Pt. Maitland Pier sounds good Probably should wait a few days though before attempting that though. Take care folks
  14. Well some may remember that another OFC'r brought up the arthroscope subject three or four weeks ago. Well I was scheduled and all set to have mine done on May 21st. only to have it canceled at almost the last minute due to the fact that I came down with the flu however the Doc. was able to book in in for the 4th. so here we go! Luckily I was able to get the boat out this past Sunday for a few hours on the lower Grand R. with my wife. This was the first time to get a line wet this year. The fishing was terrible, we froze in the constantly blowing wind and never had a single bight, not a sheephead, not a silver bass nor even a catfish wanted to play with us and the walleyes were not to be seen. But it was still good to finally get out there, I just haven't had the time or the desire with the knee pain I have been experiencing. So tonight I attempted to practice walking with crutches for the first time, boy it's tougher than I thought! Trying to get co-ordinated and get my massive bulk moving on one leg and 2 sticks! If all goes well maybe there will be time for a few days off to a favorite fishing hole in a couple of weeks before returning to the old grindstone.
  15. Congrats to your buddy Dave, great prize! I would have no problem with the lettering on the hull at all! Why not let the world know how lucky you are.
  16. for the Gov. General
  17. He did a nice job, 20 G's though is a lot for a project, for me anyway, but it did turn out well.
  18. The tale makes me want to ask. If they were being harassed in such a way why did they not offer to call the police themselves? That is if they had a cellphone at hand. The threat of them calling the cops on the harasser would have turned the table on him. Just a quick call to 911 to report that their safety was being threatened just might have sent him on his way. A threat is a threat and if he pulled a knife to cut an anchor line is enough to put anyone's safety in jeopardy. We had a neighbour in an apartment years ago. I went and asked him in a polite way to cut the noise out one evening. He jumps over to the kitchen drawer and pulls out a cleaver and waves it at me hollering something in whatever language. Did it faze me? No. I laughed in his face, shook my head then went back downstairs and called the cops. In minutes 3 cops show up. I asked them to just go and talk to the guy and the sight of their uniforms would be enough to get the message across that you just don't do that on this side of the world. Never had an incident with him again.
  19. YEP However, the drop off location and time must be made public repeatedly so the masses can be prepared. My heart goes out for her family and the thought that this child is no longer with us.
  20. I'd never pay that. My solution would be to move or sell the boat. Something wrong with zoning regs when they won't let you keep your toys close at hand. Best of luck finding a cheap reasonable solution.
  21. It does happen...not all the rides shut down but they do rotate around the park and shut rides down for complete rebuilding. Have seen it several times. Remember telling my son about the one of the rides and when we got there that one was completely boarded up with a sign on the fence. Don't get your tail in a knot Rick, it's only a tire. I'm sure if you were given the opportunity to have had the holiday off you would have jumped at the chance too, just like I did. Now I'm sitting at home with a puke bucket under my chin waiting for the next eruption! Probably it's because of this I don't sympathize. Besides, you'll prob find a better deal after all.
  22. Wayne's reply = You have to keep an ear on sound, turn down the boom box if you got one. so you can pay attention to what is happening under the hood.
  23. Nice prize, if you had won. At least you had a chance and something nice to dream about for a while. But look on the other side...You didn't really want to move to Barrie anyway, did you?
  24. Have a great summer Lew. Enjoy that new boat and soak up all the joy you can.
  25. Good stuff Looks like a good day fishing.
