  1. You must have been the guy I saw a week or so ago fishing Red Hill between King and Greenhill. I was wondering if you were having any luck. Never tried it but have often wondered about the area as I drive it everyday.
  2. LOL, I just went through the same thing. Couldn't find my boat registration anywhere! Went through the at home safety deposit box, boat receipts, file cabinet, storage box in the boat and finally found a photo copy of the original in my fishing box but is our old address! I knew there was a copy of a revised one with the newer address on it somewhere. Went through the same routine all over again...Then my wife went searching and found the original with the revised address in 3 minutes. My suggestion, let your wife give the search a go, chances are she'll find it.
  3. Sooooooooo then....you are a better predictor of foul weather than the weather channel!
  4. Thanks for sharing your day. You have a great job! Lots of variety in your week giving you lots to do and no tedium and no reason to be bored.
  5. I was wondering the same thing, if or how many on the board have had this done? I'm scheduled to go in on May 21st for the same procedure and for the same reason. The surgeon told me that time off work could be maybe 6 weeks or even 2 months however that depends on how strenuous the patients job is. How much walking, twisting, lifting, time on your feet etc. Since I'm on my feet all day twisting, lifting, walking, stretching pushing, pulling, climbing ladders he told me to expect maybe 6 weeks He did not mention how soon that the pain or ability to get around would take except that I may need crutches for maybe 4 days after. No problem I said....pickerel season will be just beginning! This is really fast for your wife, I thought that I ran through the system pretty quickly, about 6 or so weeks from my first doctor visit to the day of procedure and this was stated by the people I work with. Day 1 family doctor, day2 surgeon and x-ray, day 10 MRI, then booked in for the arthroscope in May. I wish her well
  6. Use marine grade ply for the transom, or laminate up 3/4" and possibly 1/2" ply by using outdoor wood glue clamps and weights till it has set. Then use the old transom as a template to cut it out. Paint with good primer all sides followed by 2 coats of quality exterior paint. Then use stainless nuts and bolts to fasten to the boat. The size of stainless bolts required may have to come from Brafasco or such a place as Home Depot's selection of stainless is limited. The steel plates and hull cracks are going to give you a challenge. Have fun with your project and enjoy the rewards
  7. Parsun Canada web site here website Note the 9.9 is 1599.00
  8. Firstly, did you actually enter any draws at the show? Secondly, never enter "free" draws at home shows, fishing shows, exhibitions, so on. They only want your name for marketing.
  9. Expensive! And the owner is a well, you know.... used it once about 2 or 3 years ago and they charged 10 bucks and did nothing but carp about the free launch at Pt. Maitland and the BBQ launch price. It's all gravel BTW and the dock is too high from the water. Use BBQ or Fishmaster.
  10. Best 1/2 hour sitcom on Canadian TV. It is indeed a sad passing. Nothing sophisticated about it, just simple well written laid back humour with lots of likable characters. No dirt, no sex, no cussing, no swearing just a show anyone can watch. My sister once told me that when she watches it she sees me on the screen and not Brent Butt, maybe that's why I like it there seems to be a lot of me in his character, so I'm told. Guess we are all imposed somewhere on the idiot box. Farewell Corner Gas, looks like I'll be watching you on DVD from now on.
  11. I haven't been out this year yet John, if you want there is a seat in the boat for you if my wife or son doesn't take the offer. Can't say for sure when I'll be going out though, my days off are booked with doctor appointments for the next couple of weeks and if my knee doesn't soon get any better I just may not get out for awhile.
  12. Watch the wind direction. That will decide which side of the bay/harbour to launch at. There is Pier 4, La Salle and the Hamilton side of the lift bridge, the only one with a fee. Yes it can get pretty choppy and the waves in the harbour can be steep even though they may not be that large. I have been through the canal several times. If it is calm and not too many hotdogs running through it in larger or faster boats it is OK. Large wakes from them bounce back and forth rebounding off the concrete piers and it can be a hectic and scary passage. I have gone through it with a 12'r and my 16', both are open bow tinnies. Give it a try and you will see the shoreline from a different more interesting view. Oh yeah, they were putting the barrier up around La Salle Park launch last week so it will be pretty calm in there for setting sail.
  13. Thanks for posting some great shots of Lake Erie's ass. We had a free room for one night at the Fallsview several years ago. The view was similiar to that...that is it would have been if we hadn't been fogged in for 2 days!
  14. The law is the law, simple. If you had been caught by a C.O you wouldn't be writing your tale here. You would be saving it to tell the judge. I kept an oos bass when I was a teenager, didn't get caught but I'll never do it again. It is a story to tell at another time as to what happened and how I almost got hung. Next time, maybe not so lucky, be thankful.
  15. Yep, prop rotation is the main reason. That and prob something that dates back to ancient mariner times. You will notice that all tillers, consoles and even large cruisers are rigged this way...that is except for centre consoles. reason why
  16. So then: 500 for the hull, 400 trailer, 100 motor, best offer = 1 grand. If he balks, walk!
  17. The whole passport idea to enter the US is a bunch of crap, and actually you really need a passport to "return" home. Not saying you will get into the States without one, but that is the principle. As far as I'm concerned I don't need one. I will just keep my funny coloured money here at home in Canada. I'm not going to invest 200 bucks for passports for my wife and I just for day trips or the occasional southern vacation...they don't want my money I'll keep it at home. At least that is my current opinion, that could change on a below zero blustery winter day next January or February. And to think I once had a US green card!
  18. 30 or so years ago there was a rainbow stocking program, put and take. Can't say about recent times. They used to stock a lot of ponds back then including the Campbellville Community Pond....or so it was called back then and it was free!
  19. As Gerritt said. Take your measurements and ideas to the deck design desk at H.D or any other lumberyard and they'll set you up. Go midmorning weekdays, the weekends are not a good time to do it.
  20. STAY AWAY FROM THE SURGEON! Did I say that loud enough for all to hear? Mine started in 1980, both wrists operated on at the same time. In 1999 it all started to come to a head once again after years of having livable symptoms. Fortunately this time I was able to start a compensation claim. Approval to have surgery again on both hands was granted. I never had anything done with the left this time, and I never will let them slice the left open again. However I had three more surgeries performed on the right over a period of years, from a carpel tunnel release to 2 neurolysis operations (slit the outer layers of the nerve and tissue removal for a total of four on the same hand) physio therapy and wrist supports. After 6 years on comp I am still in constant pain, have numb fingers and hands and have little sense of touch in my finger tips, I have dropped and broken many coffee cups. You know what the Doc from Comp told me to do in the end? DON"T GO NEAR THE SURGEON WITH A TEN FOOT POLE EVER AGAIN! BTW, wrist supports do offer some relief as they are designed to pull your fingers up a little and relives some pressure on the nerve. Get yourself a support and wear it particularly while sleeping as it is natural to sleep with your wrist bent downward and this multiplies the symptoms.
  21. Yes he did say it was a great vehicle. Don't understand how this has turned into a rant? Guess it's a my Daddy's stronger than your Daddy syndrome. Or my political party is better than yours, or whatever. We should all be happy that a board member has gone out and bought himself something to be joyful of even though he is surely going to miss the old truck. Congrats on the new car.
  22. Good video, thanks for posting. Looks like an old tradition that has survived for a long time. It's not my cup of tea but each to his own, not my position to say good or bad as it's happening in another country and not my business. Betcha the P3ta crowd stays along way away from those guys for fear of getting their asses speared. Hey great idea! a P3ta season!
  23. Zeb seems to have some authority issues. I keep going back to the original post from HF and I have yet to see anything racist or prejudiced in his story. He is stating a fact of how this guy lives and giving a comment that is probably held by most. Give it a break Z. Good on ya HF for getting back at him. Revenge is sweet, you got your just dues and now it is time to let the scumbag work off his debt. If his tale of his charge is indeed true then he may not be so such a bad character. Another 16 hours of working with him and you can decide if he is an OK dude or not. Maybe you'll become good buddies in the end. And you could as well be just right, if it smells like dogsh_ _, looks like dogsh_ _, tastes like dogsh_ _ then it's dogsh_ _!
  24. Yep what goes around does indeed come around. Glad to see this low life has to do some community work to pay his debt to society. Do what you feel is best, but remember that he accused you once of something and will do it again if given the chance. But make sure he gets his dues in a discreet manner and can't pin anything against you. Sneaky revenge is so good.
  25. Great job to land! Enjoy your summer and you will have many memories to last you forever.
