Just noticed a topic requesting a lawyer and it made me think of Kirk. I haven't seen him around for some time and was missing his posts. I checked his profile and the last time he was seen was April/09. Getting kind of quiet around OFC without the long time members showing up all that much anymore.

Hamilton Fishing....Under the Skyway??
pikehunter replied to justwannafish's topic in General Discussion
If they ever finish building the pier you may have a great place to fish, what a fiasco! spectator story project update 2008 What a bargain, a dock for only 8 million dollars -
Yep that's the answer. I have done it many times. Slept in truck stops, rest areas, bush, casinos, campgrounds. Take a cooler, chair, small table coleman stove and a foam mattress in the van after removing the seats as in my case. and in the warm weather tape some screen cloth over your windows or use magnetic strips to keep it in place. I did this while working out of town, vacations and fishing trips. You always have your bed and beverages with you, life can be grand! Do it! It's virtually a mini motor home. And remember thousands of hippies did it in the 60's.

Why? Like I said above, you will get the same Bull at TD. So why go through the trouble? I gather you don't feel that 30+ years at the same bank with a perfect banking record, RSP's, GIC's etc. and a credit score beyond 800 is not a good relationship. TDCanada Trust is the same as the rest. Canada Trust customer relations went down hill as soon as TD took them over.

Same happened to us. Insurance cheque for just over 4 G's from State Farm made out to both our names. Wife deposits it into her account at a branch of TD Can. Trust which is one frequented but not our home branch. They put a hold on it which took over 7 days to clear. We didn''t need the money then so no big deal but it bugged my wife who checked it out about every other day to see if it had cleared. If it was deposited at the home branch then maybe it would have cleared right away? Or perhaps the banks are leery on insurance companies when they are writing cheques out all over the place when settling disaster claims? Don't know why because you would think insurance companies, especially large ones, have their funds guaranteed. Or maybe they don't trust the one cashing it and assume first it is a fraudulent cheque...even if you are a customer in good standing for well over 30 years. Guess we just have to admit it, the banks as well as the insurance companies have us by the short and curlys!

Thanks for posting. This was just a couple of years before my time. My Grandmother lost her house on Hamilton's Van Wagner Beach during Hazel, got washed out into the lake.

Finally... 10/11/2009 Hamilton Harbour

Congrats You really caught a beauty. So now I know why I have never had any luck down there, I have to go fishing in the early, early hours of the morning. Maybe that's what I should be doing when I'm up at this time (3:30 AM) and can't sleep. -
Was it that long ago the Champ was on Q107? Sure doesn't seem that long, even my son remembers it and he's only 19.

The final word on Lake Ontario Trib salmon
pikehunter replied to bigfish1965's topic in General Discussion
Wayne, you beat me to it! Your entire reply was on the mark. Some OFC members don't remember the days when fishing licenses were not required. They were first introduced to help pay for conservation and I can still here my father saying he didn't mind paying 3 bucks if it was indeed to help make fishing better, but has it? Then the idea was dropped and then re-introduced but of course the fee was now higher than the original 3 dollar charge. -
Glenn. Naw, I think he's talking 'bout this... right here and right here too I think Obama had a taste of Beavertail too on his visit to Ottawa. Fried okra yep, it's good, or sliced raw and tossed into a stew as a thickener, Sorry Paul, just figured drier air would be better. You should enjoy the Knoxville area, nice geographically with the mountains. Could always shoot over to Dollywood to see those mountains too

Sorry, you can't move to a state with that many letters in it's name. You would have to change your OFC handle to something like Tennesseefisherman and that is just too many letters in one name. Or even worse is FormerOhiofishermannowinTennessee All joking aside if you do decide on a move to a more comfortable climate I wish you all the best and I'm sure your decision will work out perfectly. But I was just wondering if a drier western climate would be more comfortable?

There is an algae bloom like this every year, this year it seems to be later in the season. Doesn't Lake O experience a similar bloom each summer? I can remember from past years reading about it and the drinking/tap water would have a distinct odour and an off taste too. Funny thing would be that the "experts" always said the water was fine for drinking, no problems, the water treatment plants just haven't had a chance to top up the chlorine content! LOL Probably still does happens in the summer but they have learned to increase the chlorine before it gets noticed, don't know if it was blue green algae or a different type though.

Yep! And just see how fast you can get blown into the rocks or shallow water when you concentrate on unhooking the fish you just reeled in. When alone in a tiller the bow can whip around pretty fast! Doesn't matter how tight you set the tiller control, that has nothing to do with the bow of the boat. No advise other than constant realization of what is happening all around you and in your boat. Even with a bowman in the boat with you if it's windy your going to get blown around as soon as you take your hand off the tiller or loose concentration. It can make for a real tiring day on the water, and who said that fishing wasn't a work out?

Nice! Thanks for the evidence to prove that there are actually some fish out there.

So? That is typical of any car/truck. Give it a break. I too put a new rad in my wife's/son' Honda, and a grand into the front end last year then 400 bucks last week for a catalytic converter and pipe. Things wear out. Your dad's Caddy though, why so much maintenance and was it covered under factory warranty?

Yep, you got screwed good. Hope it was worth the price! Just started a Google search and found this: Yamaha parts I don't think the renter is the one that gave it to you, it's more likely Yamaha parts that is enjoying their time with you. I just looked up one upper cowling and it was expensive. You may have to bight the big one and pay up, after all you admitted that all was OK with the rental package before you set out. Same goes for car rentals, go over it with a fine tooth comb and make sure imperfections are noted and signed before accepting it. That said, who would think of checking the motor cover for a secure fit? A lesson to be learned by all of us, even if it's our own outboard, do a check list before winding her up. I hope you fare well with this.

Congrats on your new vehicle. Don't knock the domestics, you get a lemon so you make lemonade. You can get a lemon in any make, foreign or N. American. Don't you see all those import dealers all have packed service bays? They have them for a reason. My sister in law just got rid of her Benz and bought a new not used Escape, the Benz was costing too much for repairs. My 1997 Ford Aerostar, knock on wood, has been the best car I have had, bought it new and it now has over 300, 000 K's on it. Have I spent much on it so far? NO! And it's an Aerostar! That's not exactly a cream puff! And the repairs your old truck needed were mainly routine service items, all brakes, tires and exhaust wear out, it's normal. And don't carp about the 4x4 repair, aren't they known for problems? Enjoy the new ride all the same, it looks nice in the pictures.

The bottle is a problem, could try cutting the thin plastic film out of the opening which makes it jet out of the orifice like a rocket. I think that Heinz knows this was a mistake and that could be why everywhere you go that huge problem bottle is on sale for $2.99.

Misfish here's the story. The picture was taken at in Boca Raton Florida 1961 or 1962? when I was a little guy, that's me looking on in amazement as my father held up the king for the picture. It was probably taken at a the motel owned by my fathers friend where we stayed when we first moved to Fla. My father was astounded by deep sea fishing and loved fresh water fishing as well. I can remember going on several charters with him and my mother and he would drive us down to the docks almost daily to see the catch come in on the boats. I posted this picture as a memorial on the passing of my father 2 years ago come October 1st. He loved fishing and if he was still here today and computer savvy he would have loved OFC . My memories of moving to Florida at the age of 5 and the short time there are among the best memories I have, even though they are a little sketchy and get a little more vague as the years flow past.

Don't you just love the way they pull this off? If that's what it's worth then that's what it's worth, pay up the 10 G's that's what you paid your premium for so that is what you should get. The insurance co. is doing the same on my sewer back up claim, 40 % of the replacement cost but if replaced then 100% but I have to pay up front and submit the receipt. So much for the full replacement value which I'm paying for. And they wonder why the customer gets worked up. Good luck with your search. Before you commit to a purchase make sure that they will approve and will pay up the full amount. My neighbour was told by her adjuster she could spend $4000 for a new furnace. So she gets a new furnace and A/C put in and pays $6000 out of her own pocket, the $2000 over was for the A/C which she never had before but was aware that this was not covered and had to pay for this part of the deal. The adjuster comes back with a cheque for $2000!!! stating that since she didn't order it through the insurance companies disaster clean up contractor that is all they will give her. So beware! You don't want fork out 10 grand and get kicked in the butt from your insurance company. Confirm with them first for purchase approval.

Old one but a good one. Thanks for posting it to revive my memory.

I'm a little surprised that an Impala is rated at such a low capacity. I assume it probably has a lot to do with front wheel drive and no frame. I saw a Toyota Matrix at the boat launch Saturday with a trailer behind it.

Thanks for posting. Enjoy all the time you can with him. I can remember good times fishing with my father, I consider him to be with me on most outings in the boat he got to see but never got to fish from.

Yep! Rotten Yankees, oughta stop every one of them from crossing the border! You would never, ever catch a Northerner, a European, an Asian or any other foreigner doing that. Too bad that they didn't lock them up and throw the key away!
