BRP Launches E-TEC Retail Promotion for Boat Show Season
pikehunter replied to craigdritchie's topic in General Discussion
Their website has a savings/maintenance calculator and states a 250 E Tec compared to the equivalent Suzuki reads: 3 years cost, E Tec = $761.67 Suzuki = $2616.43, a saving of up to $1854 compared to the competition. Take it for what it's worth and where the claim is coming from. Probably calculated to the limit but there is perhaps some merit to their statement. -
Just puttin' the coffee on over here and headin' out to the big box soon for another day and a few coins to pay for Santa. Have a good day.

Just buy the bloody boat and get it over with. Let us know next season after you have ran it a couple of times how great a deal it was. You have received good sound advise but like Rick said, you just want someone to agree that it is a good deal so you can justify your decision. Don't know if you have 20 G's burning a hole in your pocket or if you are borrowing the coin, not my business or my problem but I will quote what my father once said to me. "If you have to borrow the money to buy a new car you probably can't afford it but if you insist on going in the hole then at least buy a new one, so you will have some guaranty of quality." In my opinion a boat is much the same as a car, however a car does get you to work so you can make the money to pay for your dreams. I may not have a fancy big boat with a lot of neat toys attached to it but it is paid for, bought it new in '05, boat, motor, trailer, custom cover and a fish finder. I purchased it in the fall with a down payment and no loan but had it all paid for in cash when I took delivery the following April. That was the agreement, a deposit and as long as it was paid out in full by delivery it was mine. Just loved dropping by the dealer throughout the winter with a grand or more cash in hand every once in a while to pay them.

Congrats lew! That is one beautiful property, really like the garage! You're going to have lots of space to work in and store your boat. Now if you're looking for a tenant to occupy the loft above it....

65 grand isn't a lot of money! Crap, you guys should try working in a retail job for a while and catch a dose of reality. Try living on my income and see how it is on the other side. You guys wouldn't last a week in my world. Guess I just got out of bed at 6 AM on a Sunday morning for nothing, oh yeah I forgot, I just love to go in on a Sunday morning to get bull all day long from a bunch of cheap ass....oh forget it, why bother. Catch you all later, have a good day everyone, I'm off to the box again. I haven't always been in this place but changes in life situations training and education in the wrong field lead to different outcomes, sometimes not so fortunate. Those who are in a decent bracket should be thankful for what they receive and not take it for granted. Too bad that some of us do fall into a trap and it takes time to climb out of it. Imagine this, I made more in the 80's than I do now.

It's about time they added some more c.o's. That is quite a qualification list of requirements.

Great news! So glad to hear this Cliff and just in time for Christmas too. All the best wishes for a happy holiday and an early happy healthy new year.

I'm on the same page as Capt Bruce, never could figure out where the clean duds and the food was coming from. Now I know! Thanks for the hard work and dedication to the board Rick and to all those doing the figuring out all the details.

price on garage door opener installed
pikehunter replied to bow slayer's topic in General Discussion
H.D charges 119.00 in the Hamilton area. If the door is over 7' high a kit is required and extension angles if headroom is over 2'. The lowest priced chain drive Chamberlain is on at 175.00 clearout price in this area. -
Both have similar prices, some are identical. Both carry some products which are the same and some are different and can't be had at the competitor. Lowes has geared their store layouts with the female shopper in mind, HD still has the warehouse feel and atmosphere, there is nothing wrong with either concept. Shop at whichever store you feel comfortable with. As for competitive pricing Lowes, HD and Rona all price match and will beat the other by 10%. HD will do it even without proof, the others a phone call or written proof may be required, but with HD it does depend on what the item is and the amount...sometimes even the model and name and manufacturer is important, the best thing to do is simply ask. HD also always offers 6 months no payment, interest or S/C with a consumer card if the total purchase is at least $299 including tax. They do bump it up to one year when Lowes does the same. An example of how low the profit can be on certain items is drywall for eg., on an entire lift the net is under 2 bucks. The difference is made up for on related items. I shop at all 3 stores as not one can carry everything. I do work at one of them, have now for about 2 years after I decided I needed a change from working on the road for commission only. BTW I get no employee discount from the tightwads either (but we did get a 20% off coupon last Xmas...that was our bonus but we had to fork our money back over to them to get a reward, one shot deal with a cap on it too) so I shop where I feel but do reserve the larger purchases for my employer and do have a sense of guilt if I do buy even a light bulb from the other guy.

Say what you will about unions. Sooner or later many of us will be working in a Walmart because that's the only jobs that will be left! Working environment at that company is the pits. Low pay, crappy hours, lousy shifts and morons for managers (well some at least). Not only that but full time is considered 28 hours a week...not 40 as you would expect. This gives them the advantage of cutting back on hours in the fall of the year and after the Xmas season is said and done. They can still consider an employee full time so they can avoid many problems associated with cutting back. Do Walmart employees need a union to stand up for their rights? I would say yes they do, if you disagree then go ahead, try working for them. I tried it for a month, full time too, got in a disagreement with an idiot manager who had her head stuck up in a cloud and told her to stick it. Just wasn't worth it. I did it for a change from what I had been doing figuring it would be interesting to explore and investigate the company from the inside and found I didn't care for it even though I had a lot of respect for the late Sam Walton and how he made his company the largest in the world but no body knows what anyone puts up with until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Too bad the union didn't win as it would certainly have looked good on Walmart.

Home Depot actually comes through!
pikehunter replied to fishing n autograph's topic in General Discussion
They are good with their returns policy, as a matter of fact...too good sometimes but in the presence of new competitor that hails from H.D's home land they are truly aware of customer service...now if they would only put more staff on the floor! I know I could use the help some days! Lew, I'll do your painting if you'll come to Hamilton to finish my drywall -
I hope that you are not diagnosed with ALS, lyme disease or anything milder would be better. I wish you the best. But does anyone else also hate reading symptoms for almost any disease? After reading the links I am almost convinced I have lyme disease And every time I see that heart and stroke commercial on TV I feel I'm in the middle of having a stroke!

Creation of more Conservation Officers.

Argue all you want about salaries and wages. There is only one fact I know for sure and that is I am very highly underpaid! Wish I had become a cop 30 years ago when it was easy to do so, particularly easier too when your wife was the regional police chief's daughter's friend, boy was I ever dumb. -
How old is it? Is it an aluminum framed door? If so time for a new one. If your townhouse has a board of governors or directors you will likely need permission and they may already have a program in place for replacement doors with a local contractor or they may dictate your options. There are several good quality energy star rated vinyl sliding doors available, one of the best is the Novatech Imagine door, just google for it but it doesn't come cheap and is bulky and there are other good quality sliding doors out there too for less $'s. Another option is a good garden door made from a pair of insulated steel doors that look like french doors but you have to have the space for the door to swing inward. A decent sliding vinyl door will set you back $650 +. A good garden door set up $1000+ and don't forget related items such as foam, shims, screws, caulking, trim etc. if you DIY. If installed by a reputable window and door installation company expect to pay $1600+ for a slider or $2000 plus for a garden door all inclusive. If the budget is tight right now then use removable caulking available in the paint department at HD or a plastic shrink film kit also available at HD in the hardware department in the weather striping aisle. If you do seal the door with caulking you may create a hazard as you will be closing up an emergency escape route. Need any help or questions drop me a PM and put my 20 years experience to good use for yourself, I have nothing to gain financially by assisting.

last time I had heater core issues was with an '89 Corsica, I couldn't believe the stupidity of engineers burying it under the dashboard! Yes it did cost a good chunk of change to have a shop do the work. My first experience with a heater core replacement was so simple! It was a '71 Ford Custom 500 with a 302 motor, predecessor to the recent Ford 5 litre. The whole job cost me 15 bucks! Just had to pop the hood, undo 2 heater hoses into the firewall, remove a few screws, pop out the core and take it into the rad shop that used to be at the corner of Brant and Grahams Lane in Burlington. Get it recored, pay the dude 15 bucks and take it back home and replace it. Ahhh so simple...why are cars so complicated anymore My hats' off to you for accomplishing such a PIT job.

Your replies are correct. It must suck to be born on Christmas day. My brother's son was born Dec. 25 also, he said he always felt ripped off when t came to recognition and gifts when he was a kid. Now you have to pay for a fishing permit good for only 7 days....happy birthday.

Blimey! You really are a Limey! Great video, loved all the scenes and such a good ending too.

Figure out how many times you drive in any given week, how many times you've driven above the posted limit and how many times you have exceeded the limit by a huge amount and take another look at your ticket. You will soon see you got off easy. We all speed, all of us, even those who don't admit it. It's only a matter of time before you get nabbed and you have to pay for your own stupidity. That said do what you can to preserve your points as it's a small step to the next time you get hit and loose a couple more, then look out. Been there, done that got the T-shirt to prove it. I try to be smart about speeding but I'm usually running late when heading to work and push my luck a little too far, if I don't smarten' up I too will be in your position once again.

Great link, I would love to have a garage like those shown..as well as my own collection of personal favouurite cars and trucks. Anyone remember this movie? garage scene Best scene was when the Ferrari shoots through the glass wall but I couldn't find a clip of it.

EXACTLY what I was thinking! Ever since I read the first reply that referred to this being due to the recession. Come on people think back and remember, this was supposed to happen years ago when the GST came into effect and it is what the federal government desired then, and what Prime Minister was in power then? Yep the one we all love to hate MULRONEY! This was planned long ago but no one brought it into effect till now and it is a day that those in a business that does not have to charge PST now is regretting. I can remember before GST and after how our business took a hit and when did the GST come in? Yep during a recession. carp all we want the politicians will do as they please.
