I havent heard any one mention Nissan? They look like a go anywhere kind of truck? Personaly I like the ride of a Z71 suspension .4x4 is prety much a must with all my tools driving every day to Toronto and north of hwy 9 and further north or east on weekends in the winter pulling a sled and all the stuff plus my tools usualy. Or would a 4x4 diesle van be a reasonable option? Any comments pros & cons much appriciated. Don.

When you fish by hand(no rod or reel) at 40-110 ft the heavy line is much less prone to damage or tangles when you have 90ft of line under your feet you need the heavy line. The leader I think is a no brainer?

What Gerrit said. Looks to me like there could be a few problems and this looks like its been going on for a while. probably should be fixed before the ground starts to freez. I wouldnt be in a pannic to get this fixed or you probably will end up doing it again in a few years. It looks like there is no quick fix. I like the look and suspension with the colorado. I just worked with a guy that had the colorado Z71 4 cylinder (its a big 4) He was very happy with it but did mention that a new full size would cost him about 60$ less per month?? Its year end time for the auto dealers so insentives will be sweet for those looking at a new truck. WORTH taking the time to check out. Any body checked out or have the ecoboost that ford is pushing??

Quick tip..... Be safe play smart. # 1 float suit #2 GPS / CELL minnimum.. sleds are by far best on the hard water( carbides and studded is a MUST) As far as cheap transportation an old air coolled is a safe bet.

If you use braid in the winter stay away from using your hands to bring in a fish. It will cut your hand in the blink of an eye on a suprise run. It hapened to me 4yrs ago and I wont use it nor recomend it for people that dont use rod and reel. Personaly I dont feel that braided is more sensitive if any thing it is more unforgiving with respect to ice fishing. I want the line to stretch because the excitement of a hit causes most people to set the hook as if they were holding a 10ft fly rod.They pull the hook out. I like to use a 8 pound mono lead (5ft)and 12-17 mono line. Fishing for lakers and whities on Lady SIMCOE. Good luck. tight lines and cold hands

Just buy what feels comfortable and be prepared to spend time getting familar with it. I have both and they are about 4-5yrs old wouldent trade them for any thing.
