  1. Going up to stoco lake tomorrow around tweed onatrio. Looking for a chance at a giant lunge. The muskie in the kawarthas are fun and plentiful but i havent got anything over 40". Just wondering if anyone knows some spots, lures and locations on stoco and could give me a bit of help. Thanks in advance! Peter
  2. I have always been a bucktail kind of guy while muskie fishing but have never given suicks or sledges a try. yes I have used bulldogs, cranks etc. but many people have been saying that suicks and sledges have been there go-to lures for fishing skis. ii have a couple of each but they have barely hit the water. just wondering if you guys can give me tips as to which colors work best in the kawarthas, where to fish these jerkbaits and how to fish them. thanks! Peter
  3. hey guys I have targeted muskie on most of the kawarthas, but have never tried balsam. buckhorn is my go-to kawartha muskie lake but I have heard that they are some big ski's in balsam. im not asking for hotspots but is there any advice you guys can give me for tagetting ski's on this lake? I know black/orange is a good color combo for all the kawartha lakes. Any certain lures that have produced for you? certain depths or areas to look for at this time of year? also where is a good place to launch on this lake? thanks for the help Peter
  4. does anyone know any good lakes that have pike and walleye in them? looking to go about 2 hours away from Toronto. Rice lake is always my favourite for walleye, tried it yesterday with some success, but unfortunately no pike in rice lake. not asking for any hotspots but if you know any lakes that have both pike and walleye in them, it would be greatly appreciated if you shared. thanks Peter
  5. hey guys, i know its a bit early to be asking but i ju have aquick question. me and my dad want to tr bay of quine for our first. we have been there in the summer 1 or 2 times but never ice fishing. we know ice conditions on BOQ can be dangerous so i was wondering where are the best places to walk out from with a decent distant to a spot? we do have a porable hut, flasher, etc. but no snomobile just our two feet. any certain depths too look for? also any hot lures in BOQ? ive heard ofjigging raps and pimples tipped with minnow heads work. not looking for any hot sotsor secret lures, just some advice to get us out there safe and maybe get a few walleye. thanks Peter.
  6. hey guys looking to continue on with the tradition on finding an ice fising place to stay for 2 days with mydad. we have tried nipissing for walleye and pike many times and want to try somewhere different. we are looking for: mainly walleye, as well as other species 4 or less hour drive from toronto/ bolton nice lodge or resort with good food ice hut rentals OR a short walk to the spots because we have our own huts just wonering if you guys could reccommend any places. maybein the parry sound or sudbury area? or aywere else? sorry i edted thispost, if everyonewas cnfused wth the replies tha is because i asked for a laker and whitie spot, but i fis simcoe alot so its kinda spointless speding 2 days at a lake for lake trout thanks. Peter.
  7. amazing lake for largies and pike, in the summer months ive caught over 80-90 bass in a day. not lieing. there is a good population walleye, gar, smallies and even some months people catch salmon. pretty much aything from lake O is in west lake because it conncts to it. ive been up a couple times this year and the water is very low. not many hazards in that area but be careful due to th water level. you can launch right the reel thing fishing pro shop in wellington. i believe this is the west lake you are talking about because that would be quite embarrassing for me lol.
  8. hi guys i have fishing muskie for about 2 years now and just had a quick question. i have a st croix premier muskie rod, its an 8 foot heavy action rod and it is faily thick. i have it paired up with what is supposted to be the smoothest and best reel on the market; the shimanho calcutta 400 TE. i find that when i am pulling in double 10's and other baits it feels like i am reeling in a rock, it is so hard to reel in, is this normal? the reel is silky smooth when nothing is tied on but when pulling baits its so hard. could the stiffness of the rod have anything to do with this? maybe a lighter rod would make things pull easier? the calcutta 400te is an excellent reel and not sure if i should be having this proble. so maybe its the rod? any suggestions? thanks. Peter.

  11. well the week at brennan harbour flew by and it was awesome. we arrived saturday at around 1 pm and already the hosts were great they got an atv with a trailer and brought all of our luggage up the the cabin. i will make this report short becauise i can go on forever but let me just say, fishing, food, hosts and service is amazing. ive been looking for a lodge like this for years and after trying many different lodges i found the perfect one. the weather was garbage and the owner james even said they had never had weather like this before. in 7 days we fished a total of 12 hours and caught abotu 20 walleye, 20 pike, 25 bass, 1 muskie and lost NUMEROUS amounts of fish including another big muskie. we met people up there who have been going to brennan horbour for over 8 years. believe it or not we were the only cabin there from ontario everyone else travelled from the us to keep coming back here year after year. the week was considered "slow" according to alll of the cabins and the host but i was thiinking to myself boy im having a great time! and this is considered slow? i can imagine when its on fire. everytime boats went out on the lake, including us, fish were always caught or brought back. worms harnesses were recommended but everyone caught on them except us. our most productive baits were spinnerbaits, xraps, and jigheads with nightcrawlers. the muskie was caught on a chartreause spinnerbait. we had met up with a guy who comes every year just for the pike and muskie fishing and he also did amazing! well i will sum this up quick, fishing was amazing especially because it was a "slow" week and we only fished 12 hours, food is outstanding, hosts and service is incredible. i highly reccomend it to anyone, you will not be dissappointed. here are some pictures of some fish, and our boat and the area from our cabin. i took way too many pictures and dont feel like putting them all sorry and we only took few pictures of fish because i dont think i would have any memory left on my phone lol hopefully you will see this muskie picture on the brennan horbour resprt books they have in the main lodge. sitting on our deck just a quarter of the surrounding area the boat we had fishing the muskie, he was a decent guy, we saw one bigger hit our lure at the boat and he actually smashed and hit the boat aswell, i wish i brought my muskie tackle realeasing him overall a spectactular time! probably going to head up in september and maybe next august again! cheers, Peter.
