Go fishing with it . But I would put it to the test first. Put out a big lure(muskie bucktail) set the drag lite then start pulling on it as if you were setting a hook(watching to see if the drag is letting go smoothly) if so tighten the drag untill it doesnt let go. Then hit some weeds and put the drag to work! If all is good start looking for the big girls and have a blast. Or take it to a good reel repair guy(your local tackle shop could probably help you out ) Or meet up with me mid September.

I always freez fish in water . It keeps the frost off them. When you thaw it put it in a strainer with a damp cloth on top in the sink.

Can we get back to reallity. A licience is desinged to controll people from breaking laws . It is also desinged to inform people of the laws. A fishing licience is the only licience that I can think of that anyone can buy regardless of knowledge. AS for children fishing.The current system does not allow them to fish without being in the presence of a leagal adult with a fishing licience. If we as schooled anglers have trouble inturpreting the regs how can we expect some one that cant tell the difference between a sunfish and a bass to act responsably? The rules and basic knowledge of how to use the regulation handbook should be manditory. In My Hummble Opinion...

IMO!!!! Everything is late this year the water is still colder than usual and I dont think that the bass are done spawning yet . The lake I grew up on didnt have any bass beds on May long wknd and I hit several Pike on top water bass plugs?? that is a first in about 20yrs. Judging by the post on OFC it seems to be a trend throughout central Ontario. If your your going to target certian fish please use better judgment when it comes to late spawning.... Let them be!! this goes for all bass guys as I will probably leave the shore lines alone come bass opener this year.

Ya theres JERKS out there on both sides of the fence but I think the proper way to handle any CO is to be honest. The plain fact is if you are not blatenly breaking any laws you will walk away . CASE in point. 2 winters ago my cuzz and I were on a mission to catch some nice Lakers. We hit the jackpot one day . On the way out we got stopped. We showed our fish and then the younger Co decided to check every bag we had with us about 4 . When he decided to check one of my bags (garbage ) I told him that there were old lines and bare hooks as well as tackle that was exposed he needed to be careful rooting around because not only was it full of hooks and empties it was the junk that we didnt leave behind over the past 3 days of hard core ice fishing. He ended up with 2 hooks in his hand and we walked away...

Thanks for your replies. My comment towards Fishlogic last nite was out of line and I apologise for it . I have since taken a second look at the advice that was sudjested to me and found it to be useful as a good starting piont for my day trip to Scugog. Thank you. I have been thinking that top water lures may be the way to go on such a shalow lake. Has anybody fished Scugog late spring for muskie? Does live bait work? And what is the average size for each type of fish?

That realy sucks. lesson of the day is to put tackle in the back seat of the cab or at the verry least the front of the box. I had my tackle box stolen out of my boat along with my first quality rod when I was about your age talk about a pissed off young man.. On the bright side your still young . Speaking for myself I think I have given away most of what I have bought and kept only those that work. I am not a rubber guy...

Heading out with my cuzz next week but we seem to see things different. I want to go out looking for Pike and Muskie and he seemes to be focused on Crapie and eyes. This is a maiden voyage of his boat that his father passed down to him seing as he has retiered from a fishing carier that would make most drop to thier knees and worship. This boat hasnt seen water in 10yrs. (watertite) set up. So Im looking for a little advice as to where the big girls like to play seing as I wont have all day to focus on them and it would certainly be nice to get some slime in the boat again. You should take him out fishing in your new boat. It would make him happy and you would gain a little bit knowledge about the water he fishes? Sounds like a good day to me.

Awe crap i cant stay quiet any longer. With foam there are 2 types opnen cell and closed cell. open cell will absorbe water closed dosent. the sprayfoam that we buy is open. The foam that liecenced insulators use is closed cell it does not absorbe water. but it is toxic during aplication thats why the general public cant apply it. SO My sudjestion to you would be to find a local guy that is willing to work with you on a cash basis. Closed cell is used for insulating in homes. For the life of me I dont understand why boats that have foam in them are always heavyer comming out of the water than going in? (open cell) There are reports out there that closed cell shrinks when used for home insulation but the actual truth is that it is the wood used in building a structure that shrinks and causes the structure to setle.
