  1. I dont see why you wouldnt be able to find the reels there, and you could probably save a fair chunk of change too.
  2. I thin Ontario is still safe - but it's probably only a matter of time before they invade.
  3. Then he did it on purpose, just so you'd go back!
  4. I'd have to say it's karma that you got it free - you must have done some good deeds last week! MAybe the cashier had a crush on you (err your friend) and did it on purpose To be perfectly honest, I'd probably keep it - but i'd be spending that extra money at that store for sure. That kinda thing never happens to me though. Usually I get home and notice I've been double charged for items
  5. thats a beast, but this one is said to be over 25 pounds!
  6. What is teh price range you have for a reel? You cant go wrong with a Shimano Calcutta.
  7. Nice, Carter is one of my all time favorite players!
  8. Nice haul, i'm experiencing lure envy now!
  9. The website has never been cutting edge at LBs, and I have had very mixed service from them - but their reels are consistently priced $10+ less then BPS (at least they used to be - havent been there in 2 years), and if you get their member card, you can save some cash as well. Cabelas has the best site and service that I have experienced.
  10. I agree with Weeds - braid is easier for me to untangle. On these deep tangles, I usually just pull as hard as i possible can and 9 out of 10 times it slips out. Mono gets all stretched and breaks easily if you really pull on it. I started using Seagar Fluro a couple years ago for pike and musky leaders and its been great. Its fairly pricey, but I 25 yard spool has lasted more then 2 seasons and a lot of pike fishing! When I spool braid, I take that white sticker thats attached t the end of the line and put it on my reel spool. Even half the sticker will prevent slippage. A small piece of hockey tape would work too.
  11. beauty report as always! beauty report as always!
  12. I SO wish I was in Ontario - GTA pike fishing is top notch. Dont forget your spinner baits and xraps gentlemen!
  13. haha. Lax indeed. Should you be out testing lures or something?
  14. Great vidoes! That ling is amazing!
  15. awesome pics man, I havent been to the auto show in years
  16. I havent used one, but I have 3 other Quantum reels that have been very good to me over the years. Thier new reels seem to be very solid but the Code is one their lower end I believe.
  17. Great job Maureen, I wish I could have been there!
  18. The reel exploded?! Wish I oculd have seen that! On a side note, I got in teh habit if using my thumb alot rather then relying on the drag. Those pesky tarpon destroyed the drag on my Calcutta. You want you drag to last longer, losen it up, especially when you have a fish near the boat.
  19. I havent seen it at 1.10 in months. We are in teh 1.11-1.19 range here in Halifax usually, and expecting a spike for tomorrow. I just waited in line for 15 minutes to fill her up today, luckily I drive a small Civic and I dont use too much gas. The guy ahead of me put $130 into his pickup!!!
  20. Hon picked up a Cardiff a few years back when I got a Calcutta. His reel is doign better then mine right now (although I used mine WAY more, and in saltwater) Despite being plastic inside, its a solid reel and outcasts my Calcutta, plus it has a fast retireve.
  21. Have a great time! You cant go wrong with Xraps or silver spoons. Check local shops for sabiki rigs to catch your own bait and you'll do great.
  22. The best advice I can give for shore fishign is to cover as much water as possible. Spend a minute or 2 in each location adn cover as much water as you can. A spinnerbait is perfect for testing water and it will catch a variety of fish. I like to cover as much area as I can until I start finding fish. Lake Ontario has a lot of easy to access shore - you just gotta put in your time to find the best spors.
