  1. all I know is last year with all the rain French levels were as low as I've seen fo the opener...MNR said the walleye had spawned early (pthhhh)...by the end of the summer rocks I didn't know were there suddenly appeared, actually beached my boat on a "new' rock last summer...I'm thinking this could possibly be the worst year ever if this March is ant indication, I will be down to just a couple of honey holes as the rest will be above water...scary
  2. went down this afternoon, not as busy as I had experienced in past years. All quality rods on sale were picked bare...very little to choose from, was gonna buy a reel but the line up at the counter was at least 1/2 hour to get served, the usual guys were very helpful and the usual guys were huddled together in groups of 3 or 4 pretending not to notice that people were looking for help...did not come away with a good feeling at all...can we please get some competition around here for them, I even eaves dropped on what must have been a managers comments about the lack of product on the shelves...was very dissapointed today
  3. I fish up and down Georgian Bay and always wondered what would happen if the government would sell off waterfront around the French, Key, Magnatewan, Moon etc...those are the areas I know and I'm not an owner born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I always felt that these areas are artificially high to do the suppression of crown properties
  4. government never manages anything well...I could see a "fire sale" of properties to raise revenues, they never manage anything properly and and I have to think they're sitting on a gold mine her
  5. Crown land in Ontario has artificialy pushed water front properties for years now. The Mcsquinty government is now in dire straits. Will they start to sell off their properties, and what will happen to waterfront property values if they do? The cottage market could crash, Georgian Bay could all of a sudden be not that valuable....I see that train a comin
  6. i have a 14 ft Lund wide body and a 20 HP yamaha on a fairly remote part of the French....do need insurance?....What do you guys do?...Have never asked anyone about this but am wondering
  7. couple of years ago closed the trunk on a rod, didn't want warranty, my stupidity...they sent me a new top half free, awesome company
  8. was driven by them on my way out this week-end, their huts are way too close to shore(almost seems like you've just left the shore) was told they never move their huts all season, we were taken out approx 5 kms past their location and put on fish. What they are best at is advertising on the net
  9. have often been told I reel set up is backwards but I cast with my right, reel with my right, it just feels right...to me
  10. I have a trailer on the French...no locks...with thousands of dolars of gear in it, don't lock the doors of my home...if I ever get robbed, it's time to move, that's the way I'm going to live, and that's the way it should be
  11. stayed at south shore camping and ice condos, very nice people, nothing but good things to say about them, mentioned your kind words Sneak-e-Pete. The huts were on fish as this was their 4th location this season. with 3 out of 4 of us fishing pretty regular all week-end we caught some fish despite the weather this week-end. Caught 2 nice white fish 2 1/2 and 3 lbs. 2 nice walleye both in the slot and plenty of perch(we stopped counting. Would definitely recomend this outfitter. No unexpected charges (we were given a free upgrade to an 8 man hut) all minnows were supplied free of charge, they checked on us 3 times a day and offered to take us out to their day hut if we were unhappy with our results. No surprises we all caught fish and a good time was had by all. We asked about next year as we were leaving...they are already booked for all of January
