  5. I had a couple of guys fly past me on the shoulder of the 401 last year - I was going almost 140 and they flew past me like I was parked. Crazy video!
  6. nice job! Try vimeo.com if you want high quality sound and video!
  7. nicely done!
  8. I use PowerPro 99% of the time. If I were to use Mono I'd be using Berkley XL. And the powerpro.ca site looks a little wonky too me - not nearly as nice as the regular site think those may be counterfeit??
  9. Thanks bro!
  10. Woah FHR!! Slow down, I'm new at this! I THINK its a 5-6 wt, although the details on the rod are rubbed off. The rod is about 8.5 feet long Fenwick and if the model number on the case (FF858) is correct, its made of glass and around was made in the 60s. I just striped off the old line, and will be getting some new line this week (maybe tomorrow even) I don't know what "taper on it/them? Weight forward, shooting head" means yet. I havent checked out the rivers here, but I'll ask around at the local tackle shop. Most of my fishing will be small back lakes and shallow rivers. Never fished steelhead before, but I used to fish for brook trout a lot when I was younger in small streams and ponds. I have a ton of old flys for trout and salmon, but a lot of them are rusty. I plan to tye my own at some point, I have most of the tools already. Here are some of the flies I have that are labled: Black Drake (size 10), Silver Doctor (size 8), Dusty Miller (size 8), Jock Scott (size 8), Silver Grey (size 8), Moose (size 7), Black silvertip (size 8) And as far as I know, they were all either made/purchased in Quebec or New Brunswick and many are tyed with moose hair. I'll photograph everything else when I have a chance, but here is a photo of some unnamed flies...
  11. lol I actually hit my friend Jon in the back of the head with a #5 Mepps a few years back. He said it felt like he was hit by a baseball bat, and apparently he has in fact been hit with a bat before. He was ok though, but the blade of the lure was folded in half.
  12. Besides my own lures - I'd take a #4 Mepps Black Fury with yellow dots - it catches everything!
  13. Are we non Ontarians still included?
  14. I was planning to start fly fishing this spring, but the reels I am interested in are quite pricey. I was going to put it off until May, but as luck would have it, I was given not 1, but 4 fly reels! Of course they are all 40 years old, but 2 of them are in excellent condition and I'll be out for trout opener here in Halifax on April 1st. Any tips from you fly fishermen? I have already price checked the reels, and none are worth too much (other then sentimental value perhaps) The rod on the other hand, is a beautiful old Fenwick trout rod that is worth more then all the reels combined. Condex fly fishing reel x2 (the rust whiped right off) Emperor 1684 Bristol 65 (this one wont even turn) In other news Rapala is releasing a new beer - Lakemaid Beer
  15. I just got a wii last week too. Al lthe 360 guys at work laughed at me
  16. Theres not way its only a 10 pounder! We weighed a few pike the first year we fished there, and an early May 36 incher was 12 pounds - which means an March 40 incher can mos def be 18 pounds! <---- How big do you recon this one was?? At 45 inches, my guesstimate was damn near 30 pounds.
  17. Toronto pike are not as easy to catch as other pike...
  18. Xraps ar egreat for the less agressive fish, I throw spinners for the agressive ones though! These were my favs untill I started making my own... Chartuse blackfury #5 and the colourful Mepps Aglia are always producers. I use silver blades spinner mostly now, the bigger the better - #8 blades are my fav.
  19. Beauty pike Snag! I cant even begin to tell you how envious I am!
  20. I prefer afternoon for GTA pike. They never bit for me in teh early AM, and after sunset.
  21. Im a righty, but always felt like I had more control holding the rod with the right, and reeling left. I find it very odd that people change hands from biatcasters to spinning, makes no sense!
  22. One thing I'll mention about the Maina rods is that there is a hook holder hole in the trigger that seems to weaken the trigger. Many of the rods at BPS had the trigger broken right off. My partner patched up the hole himself and the rod has been excellent! Anyone else had trouble with this type of trigger with the hole in it?
  23. Scary stuff!! No way I would have taken a brand new jeep out there even if it was 22 inches thick! Gald you made it out ok though!
  24. Good luck , cant wait to see some pike! And as far as I'm concerned, it's not stealing if they don't bother to put security on their wireless
