  1. I'm thinking maybe ask your neighbour to come and show you how they work, tell him you're having trouble with the guns. At least that way, judging by how he reacts, you'll have some idea whether he intentionally or unintentionally burned you.
  2. Heats always been my go to for muscle aches/pains/sprains and worse. Never realized I could've been doing myself more harm than good. Huh. Well, hope you feel better.rest is good for sure if you can get it.
  3. If you rig them with an o-ring or bit of tubing you get a little more use out of them but ultimately you'll lose them either way. You normally get some notice of impending failure as the worm typically develops a tear after enough casts or a fish or two.
  4. I remember selling a few used super shad raps that had saltwater hooks on them. The guy I was selling them to told me he didn't think you were allowed to use those hooks freshwater fishing in Ontario. Any truth to that? I think I looked into it but can't remember what I found out.
  5. If you could bring your homemade hot tub to a boil would that effectively sanitize it? Naturally you wouldn't want to be in it.
  6. I imagine the action on the lure would be quite different. I just meant similar more on the basis of length and profile.
  7. I've had some success with the Rapala super shad rap. Not one of the choices above but looks pretty similar to the Rapala gliding rap you've got pictured there.
  8. I guess Upton just doesn't fit in with managements strategy. Kind of a shame, speed on the base paths makes for more exciting ball games. And crazy slow? Yeah, that's part of baseballs charm. Nice to catch a few ZZZ's during a game.
  9. I'm kinda psyched and somewhat optimistic. Swapped up my cable package so I could pick up the games. I'm disappointed to find they've released Upton, one of the only base stealing threats they had last year. Osuna is also going to start the season on the disabled list. But, still, nice to have the ball game on the set now and then, really makes it feel like spring/summer.
  10. Surprising to hear about the moose hunting success. I've been hearing a fair bit lately about some significant declines in moose populations.
  11. Sounds like a great trip! I'll be in Mexico for a week in May but don't think I'll get the chance to do any fishing. Always a good time regardless though.
  12. Cool. Are you lucky enough to be down there pretty much the whole winter?
  13. Yum. Smoked fish, apple juice, soya and spices sounds awesome. Got me craving something salty. I'm envious.
  14. I'm thinking of taking a day trip down to Prince Edward County. I've spent a huge portion of my life down that way as a child and then a young man. A lot of camping, beer drinking and chasing girls as a teen (good thing for me the chase is better than the catch) and now I continue to take my family there that I have one of my own. I've caught a few pike while camping in the summer in a few of the rivers down that way. Providing I find open water are they still likely to be found in fairly shallow water; I won't be taking the boat, just casting from shore along the river. Just waiting for a sunny day above zero and a chance to get off work. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks
  15. I've always liked to think March 1st is the first day of spring. So we already there! Apparently the meteorological calendar, based on average temperatures or something agrees with me. Already seen robins, grackles, skunks and plenty of green grass. Springs here! Well, for the moment....
  16. That sucks. I'm guessing even if they write it off it probably won't represent the actual value of the truck. Having been fortunate enough to never had to file an insurance claim I wouldn't know but either way, Terrible.
  17. When did Ontario licence plates become so crappy? I've had plates that held up fine for ages but notice that my wife's, which are only just over 2 years old, are missing several digits. I've seen a lot of vehicles driving around with similarly defective plates. Wondering if I'm on the hook for replacement costs and even a possible ticket if she drives it as it is. Not that we ever drive on it but I imagine it might make the 407 a free ride.
  18. A lot of work went into putting that report together. Thanks for the read. Makes me wish I'd tried my hand at fishing when I was Cuba.
  19. Yeah, very cool. Mind if I ask what you're using as far as rod and reel? That's a beefy looking stick!
  20. Interesting. So fuzzy yet still not at all cute. Takes a special kind of menace to pull that off.
  21. While I agree that a new vehicle typically makes for a poor financial investment I think that the rate of depreciation, depending on the vehicle, is often somewhat exaggerated. Lately I've been dreaming of buying a new truck but also looking at newer used ones and the depreciation isnt as much as you would think or hope for.
  22. I tried the lake about 6 years back in the spring for pile. I think I fished the south west side, couldn't find any signs of life whatsoever. No perch, sunfish, minnows and no pike. Always wanted to give it another go but never made it back there.
  23. That looks absolutely awesome. Cool report. Looking forward to more.
  24. Very hard too lose someone so close. Sorry for your loss.
