  1. Congratulations. Nice boat! I’d just enjoy it as it is for a bit before you dig into it, particularly if it seems to be working well. Love my 14 foot aluminum but perhaps a tad envious…
  2. Just bought my first gas powered auger and went all out and bought a used mustang survival suit. Looking at the long range forecast makes me wonder how much use I’m going to get out of either. Got my first snowblower this year too, used all of 3 times so far……
  3. Wow. That’s the stuff dreams are made of. I can’t imagine a better southern getaway. Love the lack of crowds. Thanks.
  4. Happy New Year to all. 2024 is going to be the best year ever!
  5. I’ve had good luck with my St. Croix Premiers over the years, spinning, casting or musky applications. Bought the majority of them used for around a 100 bucks. For me and my budget that makes them the best bang for the buck. I’d love to get my hands on some of the high end stuff mentioned in this thread but tough for me to justify the expenditure.
  6. Safe to assume you aren’t in Southern Ontario. 20 degrees here. Thinking about hitting the beach…
  7. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’ve owned and enjoyed numerous V8 powered cars and trucks over the years. Last being a 2017 Titan that probably sucked back 20 to 25 litres per 100km . The novelty wore off pretty quick though. I think people often miscalculate their MPG, either knowingly or unintentionally. I’ve never gotten close to the claims I typically hear folks make. But, yeah, they are fun all the same. At the end of the day it’s your cash.
  8. If you’re still in touch with the previous owner you should ask him if he registered the hull numbers in his name. You basically want to find out who those numbers are registered to and file your paperwork as if you bought it directly from them.
  9. Hi, welcome! If you live near Bancroft you’re not too far from Silent Lake Provincial Park. A good spot to fish if you’re confined to shore or a nice place to use your SUP or kayak as it’s a non motor lake. I’ve only ever fished it briefly and caught small smallmouth but it’s my understanding that some decent trout fishing (and eating) is to be had. I’m assuming there’s probably alot of good lakes up your way; I’m just not very familiar with the area. Anyways, best of luck
  10. Congrats on THE MUSKY!!! First fish is definitely an all caps experience! I’m assuming KraTTor is referring to this being a man’s personal triumph thread rather a quality of Mepps Spinners thread. But I have a history of missing the point.
  11. Good to know. Bizarre response though.
  12. Suick Smallish Bucktail (Mepps or Blue Fox) Slopmaster Spinnerbait (probably wouldn’t make anybody else’s list) live bait works well although won’t make the cool list some kind of top water
  13. Unless you know what you’re doing, fishing in Toronto is a pretty tough go. I lived, and fished in Toronto for many years; all the places mentioned by Beans at one point or another, with very little success. I always enjoyed it though, and it made those rare fish encounters all the more special. I never got into salmon/trout fishing but I think that may be your best bet for landing a big fish. Pike are around if you stay dedicated and carp are abundant. You just need a little patience…..and a lot of corn. Crowman pretty much hit the nail on the head, the best advice you’ll get is by talking to guys you see fishing in person. Fisherman may be a little reluctant to talk too much on the net but are often much more willing to share/brag/educate when given the chance in the real world
  14. I too had one of these, a 1.2hp that never worked particularly reliably. Preferred the driveway to any waterbody. A shame cause it was so light. They were also sold as Tanaka . I remember parts being difficult to source and that was 10 plus years ago. I think I just sold mine last year.
  15. Boom! A solid 3 pounder (if you include the weight of my rod, reel and hand) to kick off the season! Best of luck to everybody who happens to be out
  16. Brutal. Hope he manages an appeal and wins.
  17. My firearms instructor would have freaked over where you’ve got your trigger finger.
  18. Zone 20 too, largemouth 3rd Saturday and smallmouth July 1st.
  19. Senkos. Largemouth. Not fancy but it works.
  20. I’d never been in till about a week ago too which is funny cause I live just around the corner. Was looking for Kalins Grubs which apparently they don’t carry but it was almost overwhelming the amount of other stuff they did stock. I don’t recall seeing any Mepps stuff either. Might just have not seen it.
  21. Do the innards of the handle contribute at all to the strength of the structure or is it basically just a void and filled for cosmetics? You could do one inspired by the Rambo survival knife I had as a kid. Had a compass on the bottom that didn’t work, matches that wouldn’t light inside and a wire saw that broke the first time it was unfolded. Or a flask! Booze for emergencies and medicinal uses only naturally….
  22. You ever get a hankering for maybe just one more fish Lew? I know you fished musky with a passion for a long time….
