  1. Yeah, I can see how you might have to shut down a few high traffic areas but, if people can give each other 6 feet in any of the many stores and workplaces that are still open, not to mention city streets, they should be able to do the same in the great outdoors.
  2. I would’ve thought going for a walk in a CA or provincial park would be one of the safer activities you could do at the moment. Plenty of elbow room at this time of year. I was going to try and do a little fishing in a provincial park later this week. Guess not.
  3. Is that a bobcat or a lynx? Never been fortunate enough to see either and I wouldn’t know the difference if I did. Very cool though.
  4. Cool video. Been a few years since I did any ice fishing. God, just looks so cold though.
  5. Been thinking along the same line for years. Wondering where everyone has been catching jumbo perch that completely dwarf the biggest largemouth I’ve ever caught
  6. Nice to see you are back, always enjoyed your sense of humour
  7. I’ll throw a Toyota on the list. My 93? Toyota 4Runner. All in all it was incredibly reliable, comfortable and capable. It also drank fuel like a race car (worse than my late 70’s 3/4 ton suburban or over carbed 77 camaro) and provided some of the most anemic acceleration I’ve ever seen. Passing on a two lane highway was I’ll advisable unless you could see for miles. In retrospect I’d say it was a great vehicle with a garbage motor. Reliable though.
  8. Did it happen to go flat during a cold spell?
  9. Has he made any attempt to deny that his comments were aimed at immigrants? You’d think that be the natural response of someone who felt they’d been misunderstood. I would of thought he’d have had ample time by now.
  10. 8 foot bass raider. My first boat. Strapped it to the roof of my Mazda 626, no roof rack, just a couple pool noodles and ratchet straps run through open windows. It was secure though, think I actually bent the doors had it clamped down so tight. Couldn’t figure out why it was slow, me and a 200 pound buddy propelled solely by a 1,2 hp air cooled game fisher. Raised very few fish.
  11. I’d have to agree with the post title. When in doubt, Senko it out! It could in part be just a confidence thing for me. I know Senkos work so I use them and have invested far less time using others that didn’t catch me fish in a short span of time.
  12. You guys telling me yum-dingers out fish senkos?! Get outta town! Sounds like a whole new thread.
  13. Grab yourself a pack of yamasenkos. Somebody might have to correct my spelling on that. Or google it and how to rig them up, wacky style I think. It looks ridiculous and you’ll think the hook is way to big but it works. Closest thing to a magic lure I’ve ever found and beginner friendly, plus won’t break the bank. Don’t buy a cheap knock off version, they just don’t work the same. I’d convinced myself that a lot of spots didn’t have bass till I started using them.
  14. I defer to Lew, the man knows his stuff. Still have some of his old Suicks, tangled up in my musky ball. The ultimate lure, maybe 50 treble hooks intwined. A bit like a Rubik’s cube, a lot like the hellraiser cube. The potential pain involved in unraveling it is huge.
  15. Musky baits already cost a fortune. I can only imagine how much they’d be if they were ultra realistic. Musky (in my little experience) don’t really seem to care how a bait looks, more how it acts. Probably bass too but what do I know. I do see where your coming from but I think probably the majority of hardcore musky fishermen are indeed a little older and more likely to go with what is known to work already. Pretty sure you could find some highly realistic musky lures if you looked hard enough, just don’t think they are huge sellers and would probably set you back an arm and a leg
  16. Well, read this thread and was almost worried it might be like shooting fish in a barrel but squeezed in an hour this morning shore fishing the Otonobee river. Bass weren’t biting, none caught or seen. Mosquitoes were much more obliging and showed up in droves.
  17. I have very little experience catching walleye, although I have fished Nipissing once before, many moons ago. Dressed Mepps black fury 3 with a worm was landing walleye if I remember correctly.
  18. Thanks for the heads up. Splurged on a new spinning reel. Daiwa Fuego LT. I think with the free shipping and 10% off it would be hard to beat.
  19. Holy smokes!! Wow, dude, I caught my first carp with, and thanks, to you! Back when the world, and ofc, were young! Grass was geener, mountains taller and children kinder! Before I even had one of my own. Been many years! Thought of a telescopic rod hadn’t even crossed my mind funnily enough. I’ll pm you some contact info and we will figure things out. Thanks!
  20. I’m thinking that’s probably still to open ended a question and I should provide a little more info. Would love to be able to fish a Florida pond for bass but be able to chuck something out into the ocean surf for whatever. Possible?
  21. Been ages since I posted although still frequently check out the board. Was hoping to get a few opinions regarding a good travel rod. I know that’s a vague question , kinda like asking what’s a good multi purpose do it all rod, but all the same I’ve been lucky enough to be on vacation a few times recently (Florida and Mexico) and found myself without a rod. I’d love to have something that would qualify as carry on baggage, although I could check it providing it wouldn’t lead to too much extra hassle at the airport. I could always make a hard case out of pvc piping and take a rod I already own I guess. Anybody been through this?
  22. I've got to be the only guy who ever got a bad pair of the Baffin Titans. Mine leaked (both I think) within a very short time of getting them. They were definitely warm though prior to the leaks. If I ever needed another pair I'd still consider them, I'd just be sure to keep my receipt for the first time in my life. It's also worth noting that these are big, cumbersome boots, not light by any stretch of the imagination.
  23. Nicely done! Still looking for my first grouse ever, haven't even cracked the gun safe yet this year. Just feels too hot but hoping to get out soon. Trees are starting to get some nice colour, makes me feel I should be out. Looking forward to a crisp morning and some spare time.
  24. If I were a betting man (which I am) providing the bolt pattern and centre hub match up up you'll be fine. You can typically go a little lower profile with no trouble, going bigger is a often somewhat trickier as it leads to rubbing issues.
