Got my flu shot Monday as well, along with my semi annual shot for another condition. I always understood the flu shot was a crap shoot, they try to predict what strain will be the most common this season and make millions of doses for that strain, sometimes they get it right sometimes not. Last year I got my flu shot and then a month or so later, I came down with the worst flu I have had in years, funny it was 5 days after I had a full checkup at the doc's, wanna stay healthy , keep away from where sick people go 😁

I've had a Thumler's Tumbler since the 80's, but I use it for cleaning rifle brass for reloading, walnut or corn cob media and a little jeweller's rouge. I would recommend it if you are looking at getting one.

I made license plates back in the late 70's/80's when they were of hot dip galvanized steel 😃, no peeling in those days. Actually the place I worked at would precoat the usually white basecoat on a coil of steel and then slit it to the license plate width and ship the slit coils to Millbrook Correctional for further processing. Retired in 2008 as a slitter operator.

If you want to stay at $1000 don't get a DSLR but a top end Point and Shoot with a wide optical magnification range, accessory lenses will be at few more grand to get the same versatility with the DSLR route.

30 years ago, when I fished the Niagara all winter , had stuff taped up with this to avoid hand to direct metal contact https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/drscholls-moleskin-plus-padding/6000016952930 edit : back to float reel backing , heard of guys getting those thin adhesive backed cork sheets like they use on the back of coasters and precision cutting strips to build up an arbor on their reels , low weight and won't hold water. BTW my first float reel was a Grice and Young back in the early 80's.

Yes, think that is it, right down to the black braided line. We used to set the metal garbage pail lids out on the lawn and practice casting accuracy, by 12 I was pretty good. The lids gave a satisfying clang when you were on the mark. Bought my own narrow spool Sportcast when I was 14/ 1964 picking strawberries. Edit: Inglis made a lot of stuff back then

I think there was a Pflueger model named the Akron back in the day. Dad tournament casted back around 1950, I inherited his wornouts for a while, think he went to a Langley when I got the Wonder Reel. He was pretty good, there was a 1st place trophy for 5/8 ounce bait and a fly accuracy 1st place , won at the Toronto Anglers and Hunter's competition at the sportsman show. Had a good teacher. 👍

Just be sure it is no stretch dacron line, they were getting it online in different colours, some were even neon and they would match it to the colour of their reels so it looks real purty through the ventilation holes. Stay away from any natural fibre that would hold water.

Cortland Micron Dacron in 30 lb was the go to fly line backing back in the day. edit : some guys are buying spools of kite string for float reel backing

A green Shakespeare Wonder Reel, made by Inglis, the washing machine people, it was a hand me down from dad and a steel rod as well, it was hexagonal in X section and I believe it was made by True Temper, the same people that made good quality garden tools. Inglis had a plant in Hamilton and True Temper had one in St Catharines, like to believe it was locally made. You won't find that today.
