  1. Could be , I only got hit once last trip for the dispensing when picking up 2 different ones for my wife, she is still under 65 so hers are on the company plan, I'm 70 so mine are a mish-mash of gov't and company cause the company one only picks up what the gov't don't. Worst part I guess is all the extra trips when we are trying to reduce exposure to the outside world.
  2. 60 years ago , all the fisherman were bad mouthing Mercs, no serious one would have one of those black, sometimes white POS hanging on their transon. They would not start in cold weather and wouldn't troll, only good for water skiers and speedboat. Johnnyrudes were the motor of choice.
  3. Back to virus related issues, now that the Old Age Security ( that is an oxymoron if I ever saw one ) cheques are out, did any of you other old pharts see the $300 or $500 top up that the kid said was coming ? same amounts here as usual. Taking a killing here on dispensing fees with the drug stores only giving 30 day supplies of all our meds .
  4. I ran an identical boat to this almost 20 years on L. Ontario and Erie, with the newer motor is still in your budget. Unfortunately the border might be a problem at this time. Pulled it with a 4.3 GM V6, a little over a ton with gear and rigging. http://www.centerpointeservice.com/boats-for-sale/1983-sylvan-18ft-center-console-pewaukee-wisconsin-5792742/?print=1&full=1
  5. Still in elementary, probably 12 or 13, can you even get a license that young ?
  6. early 60's here, cable and pulley steering, the throttle you just reached back and twisted the tiller, one speed, flat out 😀
  7. Stay away from any farm raised fish, period. Pancake mix and beer or egg dip then flour back in the egg and then panko
  8. I've seen some of their stuff at Len's Mills of all places, last time I was in there with my wife getting craft supplies
  9. Most of the good stuff is mail order anyway, as far as big box stores, Cabelas used to have a significant edge on Bass Pro who seemed to cater more to those who fished for green fish <- yuck
  10. We used to run into a hatch of those on the Rocky Saugeen many years ago fishing Specs, we would use #16 light Cahills to fish the rise, but it wasn't really necessary as the Brookies are dumber than a bag of hammers , never do get really selective when it comes to food like resident Bows and especially Browns.
  11. Early '80's a treble still counted as 3 when live bait fishing, hence sucker rigs for Musky used a single and 1 treble. Later the rule was changed so a treble was considered 1 hook . A treble was always considered 1 hook for artificial lures but only 3 were allowed on a plug, not sure when that was upped, definitely the rule in the '60/70's.
  12. The old days when the flatfish with 2 pairs of trebles on those hangers/spreaders were illegal too, could not even use 2 trebles on a musky quick strike harness.
  13. I'd say it is a Heddon Dowagiac Minnow , but missing the front hooks. Worth some bucks in good condition with the box. Scroll down a bit https://www.wideopenspaces.com/9-old-fishing-lures-tackle-box-just-hit-payday/
  14. They missed one, disguised as your grandpa's thuddy-thuddy 🤣 http://ericnestor.com/what-the-brickwurx-mfg-lever-action-red-ryd-ar/?fbclid=IwAR3VVjn6_GCwgCuJNtIk2E5HrtYzVNs9fdomCwrIaqcts0HeVkrpKIMtHbc
  15. go for it, there is a few around Long Point. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-motorboat/ottawa/last-one-sold-mud-motor-long-tail-motor-kit/1424311401
  16. Reminds me of the popular sea fleas that were built from Mechanics Illustrated Plans around 1960, we didn't tweak the motors though
  17. As a teen I cut a similar sized place for 3 bucks, that would get you 12 beer and a pack of smokes, doing the math 12 beer is now 20 bucks and smokes are what? $15 , so $ 35 sounds fair.
  18. In '68 dad bought a cottage on Loon/Dudmon Lake in Haliburton for $8800, sold it in the late '80s for ten times that. It has been extensively renovated but I ran across it up for rent a few years ago , would have cost the same $8800 to rent for 4 weeks 🤯
  19. At Port Colborne and Long Point , there are sanctuary areas that don't open till 2 weeks after the regular opener. Been like that for all my 70 years, simple old solution to the problem, don't waste our money on analyzing the problem further, committees, boards, public feedback, just do it. As for preseasonn catch and release only ? I don't think many keep bass even during the open season.
  20. It connects with Baptiste which is quite a bit deeper and at one time even had Lake Trout, with the connection it opens more water than most smaller lakes to an avid boater.
  21. We have only flattened the curve here in Niagara, the numbers are not going down yet, what are these idiots thinking by opening things up so soon , going to end up losing the whole summer if it backfires edit: just speaking as part of the most vulnerable segment of society
  22. My wife is American, she never has heard them called pogos, I have my pogo and pop she has a corndog and soda 🤣
  23. Wonder if Canadian Tire or the new owner of this will get his money back in the buyout program
  24. Be advised , I had a lot of old 50's vintage canning books and hand written recipes, some of those recipes and methods are no longer Ag Canada/USDA approved . But then again I am still here 🤣
  25. Hope it wasn't left all winter with water in it , you need to at least pump some plumbing antifreeze or better one of those squeeze bottles of seal conditioner and antifreeze thought it till it come out the pressure side.
