  1. The solution is obvious, you need a bigger boat
  2. http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/Library/349568.pdf This is a pretty good reference to Ontario Baitfish.
  3. Probably some kind of Stickleback, would help to see the dorsal fin erect.
  4. Hec, I thought advertising on the boards was disgusting, but then again I grew up with Murray Westgate and " Happy Motoring " as the big sponsor of Leafs games
  5. My wife and I have Kobo Arc's with 32 gb. memory, e-readers with tablet capability. They have been great the year or so we've had them and were on for 99 bucks off the Kobo site.
  6. Back in the 80's the mom of one of my steelheading friends was for a fee making/knitting the best glove that I have used. FWIW those gloves had only the thumb and first 2 fingers were half fingered, the ring and little finger were left full. I had no problem with the design using a float reel and spinning gear during cold weather. The wool was of the best quality of course, unfortunately have not seen the friend in many years and I'm sure the mom has passed. Back in those days I wore the old canvas Columbia Steelheader vest with the wool lined handwarmer pockets at breast height, those gloves and a couple of handwarmers would fish the Niagara all winter.
  7. Looks like a twin to the steelhead in BillM's avatar, originally thought that fish was a coho, I was wrong.
  8. It's snowing in Grimsby :(

RDR there was monster flakes in the streel light at 5 am , luckily it was only for a few minutes.

  9. Lake Ontario is better but still down to when I moved here in 83, I'd say we are still down 18" to 2 feet from the high water of the 80's.
  10. great vocalist from my favourite band of the 60's
  11. Worked them, found that after I turned 50 , 12 hours was a long grind. Another thing was that working 12 hours you don't have enough time to get a lot of smaller jobs , errands , chores done that you usually did before or after work when working 8 hour shifts, so you spent a chunk of your new found days off catching up on things that normally could be done during your work week. Getting off at 8 am on Friday and not having to be back till 8 am on Tues did make for a nice long weekend once a month.
  12. With the right timing you can get them quite shallow during the fall frog hibernation migration.
  13. The Sargeant at Arms position is ceremonial too , thank God he had a loaded gun
  14. I'm finding the more I read about this Abdul Zehaf Bibeau the more I am reminded of the terrorist actions of another Islamic Fundamentalist Gamil Gharbi and his terrorist spree in Montreal almost 25 years ago. Glad today we have the freedom of the internet internet and the Liberal but- kissing media can't sensor the facts in their newspapers so the Liberals can push their aggendas. Hats off to Kevin Vickers, I had always assumed the Sargeant at Arms was a honorary position with the mace , the robes and other accesories of the title, but the man is a true hero
  15. Crayfish will burrow like that in clay.
  16. X2 high winds + light baits + baitcaster + newby = recipe for disaster or a lot of frustration
  17. You're too late, the TSX is already down about 1000 points from the all time high of a few weeks ago.
  18. That's one huge mink, the ones I've seen here are much smaller.
  19. 2 strokes are fine on a slope , 4 strokes not so much. I understand that it is best to go up and down rather than across the face of a slope with a 4 stroke.
  20. Definitely would be a blast, any suggestions for a bombing run ?
  21. I've been wearing Bifocals for the last 15 years, I've always found the EasyClip Brand of glasses to meet my needs for a polarized glass. They are very light weight and fit so close that it is not obvious that you even are wearing clipons. They attach by magnets. This site shows good photos of the brand. http://www.perfect-eyeglasses-guide.com/easyclip-eyeglasses.html
  22. It is far easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission
  23. You'll find that the Ruffed Grouse are better table fare than the Spruce Grouse , especially later in the season. The Ruffs have white meat. An accurate 22 rimfire is a good choice if your shots are close range head shots, less messy too.
  24. I've heard decent things about the Rapala Hydros series of line counter reels, anyone run them ?
  25. look a lot like the "peanuts" that guys use for Lake Trout, usually behind a gang troll or cowbells. edit: if they work for you might want to try some Spin and Glo's as well
