Watching a little of the TO Rock vs Buffalo Bandits, there should be more games televised , can't believe John Tavares' uncle is still playing at 46, he is a legend, you got to be tougher than nails to play that game.

Beer and wine sales in Ontario NF well kinda!

Don't most larger grocery stores already have a wine kiosk in them ? I really don't think it would be any different with beer, separate kiosk, no putting a 24 in the cart with the regular groceries. -

What 'signals' the true beginning of spring?
dave524 replied to Beavertail's topic in General Discussion
yesterday, opened a few windows after turning down the thermostat, heard a redwing and a grackle this morning, i'd say we are at least getting a preview. not going to pack up the snowblower yet though. -
Best use ever for Beehive corn syrup was when mom made peanut brittle

Thanks to google have it sorted out........quote: "On March 12, 2015, Michael Andlauer announced that he had acquired the Belleville Bulls, and that they would move to Hamilton's FirstOntario Centre for the 2015-16 season and become the Hamilton Bulldogs. The current Hamilton Bulldogs, an American Hockey League franchise, was concurrently sold to the Montreal Canadiens and will move to St. John's, Newfoundland for the 2015-16 season as the St. John's IceCaps(the current, True North Sports and Entertainment-owned IceCaps, which are affiliated with the Winnipeg Jets, will move back to Winnipeg on an interim basis).[1]" all very confusing

I'm confused , isn't there already a team called the Hamilton Bulldogs ??

If you are going early spring I would go with a south shore charter, come June the north shore.

With the dollar low look to an increase in manufacturing jobs as well, recently saw Arcelor/Mittal/Dofasco is going to hire about a thousand in the next few years, more with the spinoff jobs those will create. Labour here became cheaper compared to the US with the 79 cent dollar.

I saw on another from an icebreaker went from Port Colborne to Fort Erie, a couple of days ago. Lake Ontario looks to be totally open across to TO except for the mounds the wind has pushed up here around the pier and the mouth of the Forty. Oops : I know you are west of there but he probably cleared the mouth of the Grand for flood control purposes, they usually do and came from points further west.

Seems like the Raptors may have caught whatever is ailing the Leafs

They call muskrat stew , marsh rabbit stew just to make it sound more appetizing.

I ate snapping turtle soup a few times back when I lived in Port Rowan in the early 70's. Never was in on the cleaning or the prep, I do remember veggies ( celery and carrots ) and pot barley in there, no noodles. But there are probably as many recipes as there are cooks but it was tasty. So was marsh rabbit stew, but you need to know a muskrat trapper for that one, they are only legal under a trapping license. I recall them saying there is seven different kinds of meat on a turtle.

The sad thing is if he was a remotely still a danger to himself , he would probably still be closely monitored.

I believe New York has a early spring season, lots of big smallies 6+ pounds in the Niagara and Eastern lake Erie.

Being the last to open I always found bass opener to be kinda anticlimactic.

I like using some fine corn meal in the mix, at one time I ate quite a few catfish, them I did straight cornmeal and seasonings after an egg dip.
-
That huge Italian catfish appears to have been caught on spinning gear and there were other videos of big Eurocats , all appear to have been taken on spinning gear, I would think a musky would not be a problem.

At least they haven't sunk to the lows of supplying clothing to upscale yuppie type clientelle like other formerly hunting and fishing outfitters like Abercrombie and Fitch, L.L. Bean, Eddie Bauer and Columbia to name a few offhand and totally forgetting about their roots.

Built a lot of those too back in the day, spent a lot of time and money at Lorne Green's rodbuilding shop back between 1975 an 2000, what Fenwick built those 9 foot Riggersticks on were 9 foot 10 weight fly rods blanks according to Lorne. He marketed another heavier rod as a " Kingstalker " his name not Fenwick's , what that was was simply a 9 foot 12 wt. Fenglas flyrod blank. Back then most rods marketed as steelhead rods were West Coast design and far too heavy for Great Lakes streams, seems most of my early steelhead builds were on fly blanks too. I would think anyone looking to build a riggerstick would still do well to look at heavy wt. fly blanks for that slower action desireable in a rigger rod.

I read it after the fact on Lake Ontario United or Spoonpullers, there was a issue with the drag and one of them has an updated drag system. I never had an issue, actually kept it on the light side and palmed it like a float reel for additional drag. I see Rapala Canada has several 10 1/2 foot models that might fill the bill for a traditional mooching rod over the counter. http://www.rapala.ca/products/classic-trolling

Oh on the reels, I used a Mitchell 782 , it was a mooching reel in the 80's that had anti reversing handles. There was 2 different interrnal designs, one had a red band on the spool another had a gold band and honestly i forget which was better.
